  • In this video I will be engraving on all sorts of metal using the new xtool 1064nm infrared laser. This laser is capable of engraving on copper, steel, aluminum, zinc, titanium, brass and more. You can easily engrave all metals with just a few clicks of a button. This IR laser is extremely powerful for only being 2watts but don't let that fool you. A traditional blue diode laser is only capable of engraving on stainless steel but this new IR laser makes DIY engraving all metals very simple. Watch the full video to see the settings I use and to see all that this laser can do. If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up and hit that Subscribe button for more.
    If you'd like to see something engraved or made, leave a comment and let me know.

    Hey everyone, if you’re looking to engrave just about any metal out there, I highly recommend this IR laser from Xtool. I love this thing and I’ll be engraving a lot more with it down the road 👍🏻 I hope you enjoy and have a great rest of the week!

      I wouldn’t say deep like a fiber laser would do but enough to feel it with your fingernail if that makes sense. I’m sure with numerous passes you could make it deeper but how many I’m not sure. I’ll have to try and see

    Ooof. IR lasers. I was partially blinded in my left eye by an aircraft equipped with an IR laser jammer when I was stationed at Offutt AFB in 2001. It only took an instant and was permanent. Even though your device and the jammer are vastly different in power and frequency, I don't think I'll ever own a laser engraving system despite how cool it works. Excellent video demonstration. 👍

The color of the graphics is red-yellow, I tried changing the laser power, dpi, speed and it's still bad. Your graphics look very good, there is a clear contrast. When engraving text, it's OK, the letters are dark, but the photos of faces come out bright and practically invisible. Can you help me and tell me how to set parameters in the program? I have Xtool and Lightburn. Thank you in advance for your answer.

    • @ainttakenanyshit
      @ainttakenanyshit 4 місяці тому

      The only laser you will see is the "positioning" laser, and the IR laser that does all the work is "invisible". To check the MAIN laser IR focus, go to "MOVE", set the laser power for ~ 20 %, hit "FIRE LASER" for just a BRIEF moment, check the spot diameter and the height of the laser at that test. Repeat for different focus heights. This will engrave a spot with the MAIN IR laser and the visible laser is just for alignment and its focus will change with height also. Rinse and repeat....

    So, you figured the the "focus leg" did not provide optimum focus. How did you arrive at that conclusion? Did you perform a "ramp test", or, did you fire the IR in the "move" command box for a second or two with a nominal power setting - ~25% - then measure the burn spot? IF you though that the visible laser spot you see, (used only for positioning), had/has the same focus spot as the IR laser, then, that may be a wrong assumption. I would fire the IR laser at about 25% power for one second, at different focus heights, and then determine which height gave you the smallest IR beam burn... BUT, tell us ALL how YOU did it............. Thanks....

I have an ortur laser master 2 pro and would love to get this. Since my other option for metal is a $7,000 fiber laser. I know ortur is supposed to be coming out with their own infrared module eventually, but not even an estimate on a release date.
