In "Curb" he can take it next level because he's a New Yorker (known for being direct) in Los Angeles (where people are known for being fake-nice).
I think knowing that Larry David created Seinfeld together with Jerry Seinfeld and that large parts of Curb are improvised changes how the show hits you. Also: it takes some time getting into it. I used to find Seinfeld super boring back in the day. Then I watched it a second time and now it's my most favorite show ever. I've seen all 9 seasons like 10 times. I think it's the same with Curb.

Larry David provides the theme and situation for the actors. The actors then create their own lines based on their interpretations of the characters they are playing.
Y'all are missing out on some of the best comedic writing of our generation, well worth watching, beginning from season 1 episode 1. If you're having a bad day, sit down watch an episode and your day will get better..
I am 69 in London and have only really liked about 5 USA Shows and this is one of them. Extremely clever and plenty of foreshadowing. Larry is worth 800 Million Dollars due to Co-Wring Seinfeld,in particular. Around 14 Series so far and still of real quality. The Therapist episode with Steve Coogan was hilarious...

Most of your shows seem to be copies of British shows like All In The Family and Sanford and Son to The Office to VEEP and Shameless. Our comedy panel shows are acknowledged as the best in the World but most of them have no laughter tracks which might confuse most Americans who won't know when to laugh

I disagree with Larry’s politics wholeheartedly, and he takes shots at the Right constantly, and yet I’ve still watched every episode of Curb. As long as the comedy is witty, I have no problem with the premise.

I think cringe in this context isn't the same as how we think of "internet cringe" nowadays. Cringe is also a style of comedy so I don't think these guys were necessarily saying the show itself is cringe but the delivery and tone is meant to induce cringe. If that makes sense. Kind of like The Office or Parks and Recreation. Edit: I said cringe too many times and now the word looks funny to me.

You’ll never be able to appreciate Curb Your Enthusiasm with clips. Most shows have an A storyline and a B storyline. Curb has A,B,C and D storylines that all come together in a genius and unexpected cringe inducing crescendo. It’s a symphony.
it felt too contrived to me when I watched the first season. Most of the time it was immediately obvious where the B storylines would end when they're introduced.
Sad thing was Larry David lost his mind and started yelling at Alan Dershowitz in a grocery store for not hating Trump enough. Dershowitz: “We can still talk, Larry.” David: “No. No. We really can’t. I saw you. I saw you with your arm around [former Trump Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo! It’s disgusting!” Dersh: “He’s my former student [at Harvard Law]. I greet all of my former students that way. I can’t greet my former students?” David: “It’s disgusting. Your whole enclave - it’s disgusting. You’re disgusting!” Lost any respect for him over that.
