In this video we teach you how to install the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium. The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium was launched in the summer of 2022 and is a wifi smart thermostat that allows you to remotely control it from your phone.
The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium is unique in that it has both Alexa built in and a built in Air quality sensor that can monitor the air quality in your home.

Great video 🤘 my system had all the same wires except an additional Brown wire…my old Honeywell thermostat had it on W2 as a “neutral” wire but wasn’t sure if it needed to go to a different location?

10:59 For mine, it didn't detect a wire in G even though it was there and I made sure it was secure. It allowed me to manually say it was there... ? Like if you don't detect it, why is me saying "Trust me" ok?

Your C wire is simply a wire to complete the circuit for power. Typical thermostats have a 24v AC power wire and a wire to heat, a wire to cool and a wire to "fan only" - that's 4 wires.

Shouldn’t you trim the wires tips so the sheathing is close to covering the bare wire so the bare tips don’t short out against each other..?

Hi I would like to install this ecobee thermostat, however, I took a look at my existing thermostat, it contains more wires that is not exist in your video explanation. Would mind helping to explain this. I have Tc wire, To wire. H wire, and O wire that’s no include in your video.

What if when we remove our old thermostat it only has (2) wires hooked in, the red and white ones??? Now what do I do, do I need the c-wire adapter?

For those with a heat pump instead of furnace...Orange wire goes in OB! I learned this the hard way when it would only blow warm air when it was plugged into W2. On my old thermostat the orange was in W1 and white in W2. That configuration won't work. For this thermostat to work, white needs to be in W1 and orange in OB. Everything else this video is showing is the same.

@@christopherlynn8377 Unfortunately not. In fact, very shortly after this happened to me my outside fan motor died. The AC guy, who charged me just shy of $1,000 to fix it, said it was just a coincidence. Needless to say, I've returned the Ecobee. Not worth the money or time.

Make sure there is no power to the wires. I broke the transformer and am spending 650 to get it fixed. If it's not broken, don't mess with it.

There are multiple thermal stats in one room I have 3 one premium and rest regular I hooked two out of three up but they do not turn on
Hi, I have a question for you. I have the ecobee smart doorbell and I live in a two storey house which I rent the second floor and on the first floor is a hair salon. My landlord went from oil heating to electric baseboards, so now I have a thermostat in each room which is fine. Finally my question, do you think I could use the Premium thermostat just as a screen to see who is at my front door? I have a button buzzer for the front door so I thought I could just power it up throught the old oil thermosat and set it up with my ecobee smart doorbell and just use it like that. thanks for your help

Great video! Your old thermostat had a short black wire connected to RC and RH. You don't need that wire to your new thermostat?
Just bought 8 of the ecobee 3 light TBH big update but also a big price difference !
But most gas and electric companies give rebates for it. Just got $100 instant rebate from my gas company. Electric was only giving $50
How come the old unit the red was connected to RH and the new unit RC?
Better than NEST? Do you have to use any kind of schedule? I see yours is saying XX temp until XX time
1000% better than a Nest. Nest is garbage and the Ecobee Premium is by far the best choice.
You almost fried your thermostat and AC with a red and C cables crossed, trim the cables to avoid short circuit.
Could you clarify further? Are you suggesting to trim the copper wire enough, so there is no exposed wires in contact with anything after inserted into the blocks

Saw this for 110 brand new free shipping on ebay. The latest model is 250 dollars and not any better except it might have a better speaker. Able to play Spotify but why on earth would I need my thermostat to do that...??

Hello, I am upgrading my existing Ecobee thermostat to premium.
Question how do I remove the existing ecobee thermostat from its wall mount?
Grab the top and bottom and just pull towards you. It pop off

This is an awesome video, straight forward, the only thing I would add is there is a mounting plate in the box just in case the previous thermostat mounting needs to be covered or painted, Saves tons of time and hassle to just use the back plate.

How would i know if i have a furnace or a boiler? I live in AZ all we have is the ac unit on the roof and a hot water heater in the wash room which would i choose? Or does it not apply?

Hello, great video. I recently bought this ecobee and wired everything as is. Prior to this ecobee I had the Google nest thermostat and I returned it. The problem is, I don't have the c wire and the nest thermostat seemed to work fine without it. But the ecobee does not power up after connecting my ac back up. I have unwired everything and rewired and still nothing. Any suggestions?
Mine is not tuning on ether after powering on the AC, what did you do to fix it ?
Ok, so I have one rc wire but it was located in the rh location
I don’t think the power was off on your existing control as the display was still, active!
It’s battery controlled, I’m switching from lux too.

Just replaced my Ecobee4 yesterday with Ecobee Thermostat Premium! got it for $185 plus $65 for 2 extra Smart Sensors!!
I am not sure if there is a real benefit of the Smart sensors but I would have used existing Room sensors for the Premium!
As long as the support wires are there, the replacement/upgrade was seamless! No problem complain!
I like the Air Quality ..bigger screen!!
