To all our friends suggesting Paula's dice curse may just be the result of mathematical probabilities, we appreciate the reassurances... but, we're still pretty convinced she 's got a die curse! 😀
Tis nothing compared to Wil Wheaton's dice curse.
Thanks for covering the solo mode of this one. Liked the looks of it initially but it’s really helpful to see it played solo in action to determine if it’s a good fit. Looks fun!
Glad you enjoyed Karl!
I love the Table for 1 concept! Keep them coming.
More on the way!
I second that, these are great!
Ditto!!! Brilliant idea. Thank you. Xx
Just received my game a few days ago. I'm so glad I came across this video to teach me how to play better than just reading the manual 🙂 I'm sufficiently hyped to start my first game tonight! 🔥
Am I the only one who feels like this game is very reminiscent of "One Deck Dungeon" without the cards? Instead of spending 3 cards as "time", you're spending a life for not dealing damage here
Have a great time playing!
My grandma would love this game.
Elle manges-tu des peppermint? :)
That's a lot of doubles! If you were playing Tin Helm or Iron Helm, it would be a very short video.
I appreciate you guys doing all your videos! I learned so much. Rodney's how to play videos are sooo helpful and your Table For One videos are a ton of help for solo players like me! Thank you!
So glad you've been enjoying this series!
Not only do i learn the playthroughs of games i really like, it keeps viewers entertained as well. Especially on moments where players might have analysis paralysis. Keep up the great work!
Excellent playthrough!
So glad you enjoyed!
I've now watched this solo play, and many Twitch streams of this game. It keeps moving up the wishlist!
Hopefully it will be available soon!
Love these solo videos. Merci!!
Thanks for joining in Trent!
Lots of doubles in that game but Paula is a Jedi and used the fours 😉
hahaha
14:46 You forgot to sacrifice the point on the damage track. Otherwise a good playthrough. I look forward to picking up this game.
Good catch David!
haha I spent so much time TALKING about the sacrifice that I didn't actually do it. D'oh!
I absolutely love this game 😄 great play through!
Thanks Rich!
thanks!! and yeah, it's a fun one!
Always enjoy Table for One, Paula!
I'm so glad!
Another very funny table for one episode. I love your playthroughs, Paula. You are my hero…👍🏻
So glad you're enjoying them Michael!
Can't wait for this one to ship to Canada! Been on pre-order for so long! 😁
Hopefully not too long now!
Thanks for another great Table for 1, Paula! You ARE a true hero!
Thanks Gurn :)
Many people misconceive probabilities on dice for anything beyond 2d6. Yes there were a lot of doubles 24/32 or 75% of the rolls had at least one double. But the odds on that happening on 4d6 are 156/216 or just over 72%. It would have only take one less double to move from worse than average luck to better than average luck just in that regard. Where your luck was really bad is the number of two pairs you rolled (18.8% instead of the average 7.4%) and of course the quad which should only come up once in about 6 full games this length.
Are we questioning the dice curse with math? Tsk! Tsk!
yeah the number of two pairs was kinda nuts. But you're totally right about the odds of rolling 1 double on a d6 when there are 5 dice, of course
@@WatchItPlayed Glad to see such positive replies from the channel and Paula. After posting I feared that could have been taken much more negatively than I meant it. I just don't know many people that enjoy solo board games but not math. I will remember to honor the curse more in the future :)
Was about to post the same - thank you.
No negativity perceived! 😁
Cool game. I don't think I've heard/seen this one yet. Really enjoying Table for One, even for games I don't own!
Thanks! This one is pretty new, I think it's either just now released or is about to...
If it's not yeeting dice off the table it's getting really unlucky on the rolls itself... I'm wiping away the tears from all the laughing... 🤣😅
I'm telling ya, I'm cursed!
Those dice though… boy do they like to match. Good fun to watch though!
It's Paula's super power!
Wow, so many Glen Gary Glen Ross references. Keep up the good work
Looks like a real fun solo mode. thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching! I do enjoy this solo mode a lot
Awesome game - can’t wait to teach the kids how the maths work too 😎👍🏻
Hope you have a great time playing!
Thanks for a great video, Paula! Looks like you had fun. You’ll get Derek next time.
You'd think he'd be easier, that eyeball makes for a great target!
Don't feel cursed Paula. The odds of two dice matching when rolling four 6-sided dice is 65.28%!
Do you have to start in a start space? Reason I ask is if so, isn't it impossible to harm a monster on the first turn as all are at least 3 strikethroughs away from any start space.
It's been a little while since I've played, but you should find the answer here: ua-cam.com/video/vUlsnAKvfCk/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared&t=213 -Rodney
That was fun to watch :)
Thanks!
Love Table for One! 👍
We love that you love it!
I thought it was funny that you would get so upset over your doubles rolls, but then I would be like, "But those numbers are exactly what you need!!!"
I just had a thought. You could use something like bingo chips to cover rooms so you wouldn't have to use so much lead/ink crossing off entire rooms. You would still need to cross off boxes for damage, scoring, etc. I also feel like it would better visually distinguish which rooms you've been to.
Wooden cubes would work too!
@@WatchItPlayed Also, I ran some probability simulations on rolling 5 dice resulting in at least one pair. I got at a probability of around 90% with 100 rolls. So Paula wasn't just particularly cursed, its just how the math works out. *Note: If you exclude the black dice, a.k.a. roll 4 dice resulting in at least one pair, the probability is around 70-73%*
@@kevincornell2811 Let's not ruin the fun with facts.
@@WatchItPlayed Ah whoops!🤭 I mean Paula was super unlucky like holy moly. Those roles were beyond cursed 😱
@@kevincornell2811 There we go! :)
Paula should try Yazhtee or Monopoly in the future. She wouldn't be complaining about free turns in Monopoly until she ends up in jail, or rolling pairs and/or four of a kind in Yazhtee. I hope she does Yazhtee for Table for 1 in the future.
Very cool game! I'm in!!!
Glad you enjoyed Lee!
Is there a Table for 1 BGG microbadge? I would like that a lot.
There isn't, but it would be fun if one was made!
I played some games after this and now i think i have a dice curse as well
It IS contagious. Sorry!
Very punishing game, i've played it solo on every board and i've never gotten anywhere close to killing every monster, its hard enough to always spend both pairs I dont really think the forced damage EVERY turn was needed. There is a normal ramp up in difficulty from marking off spaces as you no longer have those as options. But you never get to experience that solo, as its just get lucky early or die. There is no real choices to be made. I feel like if they are going to add a timer to the solo it should be at least double what it is base. Unless the point is to never "beat' a level and just bash your head against a score board trying to get higher than your last.
Ontop of that you arent supposed to score if you die, and you have to beat the game to not die, so you can't even "beat your score" cause you can't beat the game :D
It is very challenging!
Have you heard of the game Bag of Dungeon ? I've been thinking about getting it, its supposed to have a good solo mode.
I haven't heard of that one! -Rodney
That’s a fun one! The second installment is being developed via kickstarter.
looking for it now.
Should be releasing soon!
Is this ever releasing?
Shipping delays have held it up some, but yes!
Should have been playing Yahtzee with those dice rolls :)
Good point!
Oh Paula, why would you choose a dice game to solo? Why did Rodney make you do it?!?!?!
There really needs to be either a certain number of turns before you start taking damage if you don't hit a monster, or have it be your 2nd non-green space marked off to make this solo mode worth a darn imo. This map was better than the other one I've seen played because you could get right to the monsters, but it's still a guaranteed turn 1 you're taking a damage with a likelihood of turn 2 taking a damage. Multiplayer, as you showed on Twitch, is a fun game though, but as a solo gamer, I'd never buy it.
Also, has Paula ever played Craps in Las Vegas? And if so, how fast did everyone at the table demand she be replaced as shooter? I'm guessing not, simply because I'm betting that the Vegas casinos would fight over her as a cooler instead of her having 20 hours of weekly Twitch videos, multiple podcasts, multiple weekly recorded videos on YT, and I'm too tired to continue. Given her acting ability and some wardrobe budget, she could pull it off. Only downside is you'd have to stand for 8-12 hours per day. And no cat supervisors. Okay, now I see why.
I think of the intro damage as being factored into the scoring for solo mode - since everyone will have that same challenge at the start... it's kind of an even start for everyone? But I can appreciate some might still not like that feeling at the start of the game. -Rodney
At first I also kind of bounced off the idea of having to take damage right away but when I stopped thinking of it as "damage" in the solo mode and instead as "round tracker" it made it feel less like a punishment. But that will certainly be a different feeling for everyone!
And yeah, no cat supervisors is pretty much a deal-breaker for me ;)
Woot woot! Another Table for One.
For sure!
When you were going over the names of the monsters and said "Necromancer".....for some reason I thought you said "Nick-Romancer" which made me spit out my milk. Has this joke been made on DxM? If not, why? Best of luck with the dice next time!
Nick-Romancer needs to be a thing now.
okay writing this one down for the next DxM recording...
