    "no system is the system"
    Love it. This is something I usually say (and apply for myself, as I am only a very amateur player): if you're playing against a better opponent, create chaos.
    There is no point trying to play finess with someone who has much more finess than you. That's trying to beat them at their own game.
    Of course this only works up to a certain point. If your opponent is also a recreational player but has more experience than you, this will win you some games. But if your opponent is a very advanced player with great dexterity and control, with the ability to regain control of the ball very reliably, well, better accept your fate.

      We must be about the same age-I won a city wide doubles draw tournament in 1977 and I won my high school singles tournament the same year as a freshman-the seniors were unglued that a freshman won. I wish I still had the butcher block quarter million dollar table I bought with my busboy money. I'd practice making shots every day after school in my parents' basement. I could make bank shots as a forward which was rare at the time in the city I played in. Great game-glad to see how it's progressed as a sport since then.

    Hi Vincent, Will here... I really like this one. Some thoughts. Number 2 Take Your Time. If I did this properly then I would be twice as good a player as I am. I can't emphasise how important this is, and how hard it is to do in practice (at least for me). Number 3, I agree so much with the idea of having no system. Being able to mix up a whole variety of shots, passes, clearances and unexpected actions makes it very difficult for the opponent to cope with you. If you want to play a system, you have to be perfect with it. It doesn't work well for me, I can say that. Number 1, this one is interesting. I have recently developed a mathematical model for analysing matches and from my method, defence is at least 75% of the game. For weaker players it's even more.

    • @VMFoosball
      @VMFoosball  3 роки тому

      Thanks Will. Glad that this video resonates with you, especially taking more time on each of your rods - as it has a psychological effect on your opponent, such that they will rush their shots/passes as well.

    VM I love your videos. You break the game down into its technical form. Many people approach foosball differently, and for me it has always been more like an analytical puzzle versus an artistic dance. I am sure people can debate little points here and there about your approach, but I think breaking anything down into its simplest form brings clarity and reason for certain actions. I think it is okay to play the game differently and for different reasons, and even those styles can win as well, but my brain is wired to think more like how you present it...thanks... good stuff!

    I am a pull shot shooter , what is a good pre-shot routine ?? Also, what can I do to take more time on my pull, I seem to be too anxious when the goalies bait ?? What can I do to force myself to take more time ?? Which of your videos do you recommend for my forward game ?? Thank you for your academy !!!

    • @VMFoosball
      @VMFoosball  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Tony, thanks for your comment.
      1) Pre-shot routine
      Basically, I would do some random tic tac on the 3 bar to get yourself warm-up first, make sure you get the feeling of the rod. Then you could start do some slow pull shots would be more than enough - the idea is to get the feeling of the shot without consuming too much energy.
      2) Take your time
      Discipline, discipline and discipline...when you feel anxious, take a deep breath in and control your breathing, or take a time out.
      3) Videos that might help you - More videos are coming, stay tuned.

      hey tony practice by over correcting the problem. (during practice) gain possession on the 3 set up, sit dead still, and then count one missippi ,two missippi, ect. all the way to 15 Mississippi sumtimes even 20 then explode on the hole. learn to love and live for the dealiest shot of all , the fifteen second straight.
