GOTDAAM! Talk about UNSUNG...MOTHER'$ FINEST was the meanest funkiest hard rockin band ever...Sly & the family stone on steroids! Great music lasts 4ever!🎤🎼🎵🎹🔥🔥🔥🎶
Yes, and years later, everybody and their second cousin fawned over Living Colour. A respectable band, but they bloody did NOT invent funk metal, the Muthas did it years before !
Tight and POWERFUL! These cats frickin' blow the ROOF OFF!!! I have a new favourite lead vocalist. What a strong voice Joyce has. I can think of no other that does it like her. B.B. Queen is a KICK ASS drummer. Hell, every member of this band is great so what is wrong with radio. I only played or heard of this band while I lived in Warner Robins, GA back in the early 80's. This band should be in the Rock and Roll HOF. What is the wait????
One of the. Most. Underrated. Band. EVAH… First time I heard "Iron Ages", it gave me goosebump. Then Living Colour came 'roud and were hailed as the FIRST fusion band. What the bloody buggery bollocks ?
Baby Jean was bad ass...mothers finest always rocked the house seen em many many times never a bad show or disappointment. This band will go down in Rock n Roll history. They loved Atlanta Ga too. Mo the guitarist was from Decatur Ga
Echt ?
The title is: Illusion (come on over). Just got a hunch to check their gigs and found out they are here (Leeuwarden) in two weeks. Luckily enough I got the thought and the ticket and will go ;-). Saw them play in NL-Leeuwarden, very good gig. And very approachable band members: easy to talk to after the gig when they joined their fans in the lobby, for a photo, talk or signature. This is one of the many songs that sticks to your head. Very powerfull singing, guitars+bass and drums. Besides a link to Satisfaction also one could have been made to Van Halen You really got me (base loop) in the middle part.
Underrated. Just like the best of America's offerings. They all had to play elsewhere and blow the minds of the best in Britain and beyond. But hey, who cares when you can go to Vegas and see Celine, Shania or whatever shows up to titillate the masses. As a Canadian, I find myself embarrassed for both countries. Geez. Never thought I'd say THAT.
Talking about a late reaction (hahahaha...) but I think I may have the rest of the gig somewhere laying around... Still interested Mark ? You have about 3 years to answer so don't hurry ! Muhahahaha !
Joyce Kennedy is the best,,world class,, George Duke found out about her,,, never understood why they didn't make it bigger than they did, probably because they were in such a more sophisticated league than all the other commercial crap on the radio that was selling. I don't think they were really caring about too much of the commercial end of it kind of like the Grateful Dead, the producer said you got to come out with some kind of hit, so they did a song and it was a hit and then they went back to playing good music again.
Agreed all the way Scott! Been a MF fan all my life although I am more into traditionnal heavy metal. I have always admired Joyce Kennedy: one of the greatest voices in rock history. She could have made it BIG in any other musical direction but has always chosen the path of her heart : funk metal ! RESPECT !!
They were dealt the RACE card from the get-go, that's why. Strange, their first two Epic albums could've gotten all sorts of airplay on either rock or r&b stations at the time. Major crossover potential was clearly there for them without having to compromise their sound. In terms of delivering the goods live, legendary stories of them ROUTINELY blowing headliners out of the water as the opening act (lol). Yeah, they should be in the R&R Hall of Fame already. Politics, what can I say??? >:-)
@shadowmailer Are you aware of an unreleased album called 'Not a Bootleg'? (Two of the tracks made it to 'Meta-Funk'n Physical'). It's on Pirate Bay. I don't usually condone pirating, but since it's unreleased....... Everyone, check it out. It is worth the effort.
@pianomano1 : I have to disagree with that. Mother's Finest have some other good damn hard rockin' albums. Just check out 'Black Radio Won't Play This Record'. Nice mixture between hardrock and funk. Solid as a house. Hard as a rock !Let's just say there is Funkmusic in the likes of Rick James and there is Funkmusic like Mother's Finest produces it. Guess what type I prefere ? Mother's Finest kicks ass my friend, not only on the album 'Iron Age'...
One of them most underrated bands in rock history!
Iron Age was a great album
I'm so excited! We're headed downtown to see Mother's Finest live again!
THIS ONE IS GROWING ON ME... MAHALO OCH ... HEJA OCH ALOHA KEA KOA + PRISA HERREN JESUS ♡
