Pro tip: don’t by Cole Haan. For that money you can get Allen Edmonds during their sales.

Great video. I was just looking at how to determine if your shoes are good quality or poorly made.

I would purchase 5 pairs of Beckett Simonon shoes if I could get them in a 3E width but they are not servicing my sector. Cole Haan generally is sub-par. I have some of their offerings but I'm not getting a good cost per wear, unlike my many AEs.

Just showed you how these big companies spend more time trying to cut corners to save a few bucks.

The bigger multinational luxury brands have three levels - 1st, manufacturing co; 2nd, wholesale/distribution; 3rd, retail. So something that costs $100 retail...working back:
Most retailers have a markup between 60-70%. The $100 pair of shoes was sold to the retailer for $30-$40. The wholesaler most likely purchased the shoe from the factory anywhere from $8-$10 depending where the shoes were manufactured. A pair of shoes made in Vietnam can cost $1 whereas in Italy $200. I’m talking about a well-made pair. Keep in mind all along the bills have to get paid - staff, showrooms, rents, infrastructure, etc.
You did a great job on this video! There are so many different tiers of quality from the leather all the way to the thread to sew it together.

Assembled Style I have two pairs of Cole Haan shoes but that was before I got into style. Still, I knew better than to overpay for them. Right now I only buy full grain leather shoes. It’s all about finding good deals.
