As a player I loved my true sticks but they just weren’t durable. They lost grip really quickly and there was a lot of chipping on the blade. They had a great feel to them and they were my favorite sticks until they lost their grip.

Hey Trav what about doing a few more videos like this one but swap it out for, bucket, pads, pants, etc. Would be cool to see what you think is best in certain price points.
Nice upload. I loved my peewee -bantam years, I always got sticks for free from a guy on the senior team, taped job done. Saved a lot of money on that, or my parents that is.
What do you think about Hellebuyck this year? Brossoit looks good, I think they should give him more consecutive games when he's getting the W. Jets always seem to have to score 4 + goals when Hellebuyck is in net.
I have a few questions 1. I’m about to turn 14 and play travel hockey I’m not a goalie but I want to be a goalie do you think I I could play both (not for same team for goalie like a house team to start off) 2. If so do you think you can train me or help me get better?
I have a True stick, mid level but forget the exact model. But, man does it feel CHEAP. Every shot sounds and feels like it just broke. And I have even less ability to shoot the puck with it. I used a CCM foam core for 6 years. It took a hell of a beating, and I used it for ball hockey too (in the arena). Had the shaft taped in spots that it started to splinter, and it STILL felt way more reliable than the True stick. My sisters BF got me a new CCM foam core last Christmas, and I'll probably end up using this one for years now too. I want to try another composite, but the True stick was a waste of money and really made me scared to try another.
Pro returns are not made for durability, and usually are less expensive because of that (why they don’t come with a warranty either). You have to factor that in as well
While I have had better luck with pro-level True sticks, I concur that they get beat up REAL quick. Haven't tried the AX9 yet, but my True HT 6.0 had actual divots in the paddle after the first skate and a variety of chips and nicks all over after 3 or 4 skates. The 2 HT4.5 sticks I bought are less prone to cosmetic damage, they are a mid-tier stick and serve as emergency backup twigs because they don't feel right. My two favorites are the Bauer 1S and 2S pro. Very light and responsive, and for a beer league goalie playing once or twice a week, one stick can last a full season or two if you're not prone to smashing your stick in frustration. As for CCM and Warrior, I've only ever used their foam core models; they're tanks, but they are heavy and I'm old and need the lightest tools I can find now. Also, fix that tear at the back of your left pant leg; it's making me twitchy.
@@trav4oilers Dude! I was shocked as hell. I guess the attacking forwards were a little too comfortable in my crease because my D sure as hell wasn't moving them out. I'm guessing the divots are from skate blades during scrambles in the crease.
Just wondering what do goalie coaches comment on your butterfly because I know a lot of mine make sure I stretch out my butterflie so it’s as wide as it can go but I see yours is pretty narrow
I prefer buying warrior sticks because of their high durability. I bought a cheap stick from warrior and it lasted almost 2 years. Warrior has also some of the best sticks, some claiming m2 pro+ is currently the best on the market.
I tried out for a spell one year not a bad goalie but wanted to learn more and progress so I didn't have the training camp I wanted didn't make tryouts no big deal but from the experience I had which was good but not necessarily enough to Crack a roster spot for tryouts but either way a Minnesota boy exploring his hockey talents best times of my life but anyhow at the end of the camp head coach was like "hey kid you came in with nothing and I just want to say that you improved tremendously and just stick with it you'll find a role somewhere, it wore me out so much I haven't been in the gym or one the I've since that's like what 5 years ago! but I'm still not loosing the fact that I can still make a team I just turned 27 at the beginning of October but this is all irrelevant I just wanted to shout out @travforoilers for saving me so much money in the process
Good vid bud. But I will never spend over 50 bucks on a stick. I use wood only because that last me forever. Now if I was a stick handler like you it would be different. Maybe you should try a wood stick for old times sake.
I find it funny how u never had CCM pads but u tried lefevre when the left CCM and now live their pads. U could have been using CCM pads made by lefevre and Reebok before CCM bought them

The fact that a tiny percentage of those kids growing up have financial backing to play the sport makes it even more unlikely. Seriously, I'm glad I don't have kids, because it would pain me to tell my kid I can't afford to pay $400 for a friggin hockey stick. That is insane. I come from the Koho generation of wooden sticks that could take a boatload of abuse, both on and off the ice. After all, it's just one tool in a goalie's arsenal. I don't even want to know how much it costs for a kid to take the ice fully kitted.
