The dancing is incredible. I always knew the Lindy Hop from the late 1930s-1940s but didn't know it had it's roots (as everything does) in black culture. The two listed cast members are incredible dancers as are all the folks. Thanks for this post.
This is a real treat indeed. James Barton is one of my all-time favorite character actors. I wasn't aware until recently of his wide ranging scope of talents. His available viewable output is relatively meager but always immensely entertaining. Thanks so much for this!
He’s one of my favorite actors too. Loved him in Yellow Sky and in Shepherd of the Hills. No dancing or singing in those pictures but a strong performance from him in both films. He’s great in Paint Your Wagon, where he does sing. I’m not sure if any video exists of that as it was on Broadway but the sound recordings exist and are here on this platform. I wish like crazy there were films of his days in vaudeville!!!

Somebody please chime in on the name/artist of this dance tune?
Chick Webbs orchestra, Sweet sue
I mean, he’s a good dancer, but you know he’s white. Doesn’t look true.
I’ve read that Fred Astaire said James Barton was the best dancer that ever lived. Many would agree.
