Great ending, I loved more than anything Giacomo underlining how spearfishing is really up to what stage of your life you are at and really how you see spearfishing in general. Many fish ? Big fish? Is a very personal and unique answer, Giacomo is one of us and knowing it, is amazing, thank you Daniel for bringing him on the channel!
Wow, this video is just mindblowing. One of the most insightful looks across many spearfishing levels I have seen on your channel. Also, those questions were precisely those I wished to get the answer to. Lovely to see you both having so much experience and still being humble and open for all levels. Thank you for your time and effort in making this episode. 👍🙏
Finally got around to watching your last couple videos! Once again the production quality was unreal. Really enjoying these style videos, love how educational yet entertaining they are 🙂 Did you guys end up cooking up the grouper?
Finally my inspiration Giacomo De Mola was featured in your channel. Thank you very much! I remember long time ago Giacomo offer me free of his masterclass.
Great video! A lot of good questions were submitted. Good, practical advice from Giacomo. Thank you for putting this together and posting it for us to see and learn from! Looking forward to your next adventure.
Well done Daniel!! I did watch his master class a long time a go and I was lucky enough to learn about all of these deep diving when I did my instructor course with Apnea Academy a long time ago!
Thanks for covering off on my question mate! thought that speices knowledge would be favoured but very nice to hear it from the horses mouth per say. deeper doesnt always equal better nice to know.
Nice video idol.. this will be my one of favorite video you’ve shared idol.. thank you world chams for all the helpful answer… keep safe always.. God bless
Agreed! Species knowledge, and environment knowledge is vitally important👍 Glad you haven’t given up on GR. Tough fishing, but very rewarding. Anyone can shout fish when they are abundant. In GR waters you have to invested. Helps when you have some local insight of course… Keep up the good work!!
Hey Daniel I wanted to ask since you’ve been fishing in the med a lot recently will you make a stop in Croatia at one point. Croatia has the 3 largest mediterranean coastline and pristine beaches and spearing locations especially the islands down south
Hey Maro, I’ve been to Croatia in 2017 or 2018 I think. No spearfishing but a beautiful place for sure. Possibly going through this summer, see how it pans out.
Very interesting! I'm especially struck by the similarities between hunting big game here in America-elk and deer-and hunting fish. Knowing your prey and their environment is key to being successful. Thank you to both for a great video!!
Hey D Mann, thanks for all the great content. Would you ever consider coming to dive in South Africa? The Transki and Cape Vidal have some amazing grounds. Shot T Man
Great buddy , very intresting points were discussed and beautiful images showed. Congratulatio to both of you. I use to spend vacation in greece , it belong to the past but if i don't mistake i have seen some places near finikunda....skiza , saphienza , venetico meybe am i wrong ?
Another very satisfying video for sure, thank you very much for doing what you do Daniel ! I enjoyed it while having breakfast this morning! The one question that wasn't asked, Does Mr.Giacomo De Mola ever do fresh water lake diving / spearfishing? 🔱God Speed, be safe!
Great video. Great tips and tricks from Giacomo. More a request: Can you show us your build up and a full dive? I think it would be nice to see that all. Thanks
Fascinating listening to the Q&A but also to see Giacomo's setup. I noticed many weights on his belt but no weight vest. Would this just be a personal preference or a better option if diving deep? He seemed to glide towards to bottom from only a few meters down. Great video as always....
Really interesting. Thanks for this. I was surprised to see a simple 90cm pathos speargun, when so much more technically advanced equipment are available to giacomo. Knowledge and experience are key, but that applies regardless of the speargun used. I wondered why Giacomo preferred a simple small gun? Maneuverability? Shooting rocky crevices and tight holes? Simplicity of less parts?
hello daniel, i also am a very enthusiastic spearfisher since decades. i have seen the fish on the mediterranean coasts become less and less. there is a reason why in some countries of the mediterranean sea it's forbidden to shoot grouper. i know, i don't need to tell you: groupers have a territory. if you shoot them, there are no groupers anymore. you can not extinct wrasses and so on. but you can extinct groupers in a whole area. i also know italian guys, who say: look at them, how they approach us (just not in spearfishing areas), they are curious, very communicative. please leave them alone. so i ask you: couldn't you consider thinking about not shooting groupers in the med anymore? couldn't you consider to make a clip about this and to raise the awareness of your followers in this special topic. we both know, spearfishing is so much more than just freediving and watching fish. by hunting you get a much bigger understanding of the environment and an intense bond. and if you just eat the fish you catch and no fish of the industry, you are even doing something good. that's why i think, you will understand. let's shoot dentex and wrasses and jacks and so (as long as they are big enough). but let's just play and communicate with the groupers and leave them alone. i have seen so many fisherman who are so afraid of the embarrasment of getting out of the water without fish, so that they shoot virtually everything containing minute groupers. let's go for the big ones or nothing ;-) with kind regards, franz
Hello, Daniel, if you're doing the translation feature of Arabic or French so that we can take advantage of the information that I've been a follower since 2018
@@DanielMann Hello Daniel, thank you for your videos and answer. Your works helped me understand a lot about this wonderful sport. About the license, as far as I know from what I read on Italian spearfishing websites is that locals have to “report” to authorities about spearfishing. So it doesn’t work with foreigners? Do you know any materials/forums/guides you can recommend that I can find/buy online to learn about basic rules in different countries? Thank you in advance for your answer
Nice video. How the hell an Englishman and an Italian went for spearfishing in Greece... hahahahaah. You should try to contact Giannis Sideris. Or Manolis Giankos, and arrange something.
He must be part fish!! Max for me is still about 15 to 18m, any deeper and it'll be a short visit on the bottom. For me though, it's about having the correct weight so that you are not fighting to much to get down. If you are fighting you won't have a breath hold.
I can't help but think the Med is Dead and way over fished. There are no sharks there because there isn't anything for them to eat [because it is over fished]. It has got to be time to stop fishing completely in the Med.
Did Giacomo answer your question?
Si 🤩

This was honestly so helpful. This guys got so much knowledge and experience, I could listen to him talk about spearing for days. Great vid 👍🏽
Cheers Alex!

Thanks Ethan, glad you enjoyed them. I had to leave early the next day so didn’t get to try the white grouper. Hopefully I’ll get my own one day 🙂
Great video Daniel! Please do more interviews with professional spearfisher/freediver

Thank you! Will do!
That's some next level skill! Must feel very different hunting so deep.
Would be pretty interesting dropping down on those wrecks!
I’m not going anywhere near his depths but it’s pretty cool to see what the human body can do.
Giacomo seems like a really cool bloke indeed. Two excellent insightful videos to inspire us all further. Thanks Daniel
Super nice guy and very knowledgeable. Glad you got something from these videos Matt 👌
l HI! its been a while since I've had a look at your channel, glad to see you're still into spearfishing!

great stuff
Very impressive indeed. 🧐 What I admire the most are the awesome techniques and no drop weighting. Absolute "A" grader 🏆
insane overall spearfishing video quality!

Versatility and knowledge of the area. He knows most fish will be inside holes and the 90 is perfect for that.
Complimenti Daniel.

Hello, Daniel, if you're doing the translation feature of Arabic or French so that we can take advantage of the information that I've been a follower since 2018
Sadly I don’t speak any other languages, just English. I think UA-cam does auto translate to French or Arabic though.
The best setup for 110 speargun bands and size of shaft for longer shots?
Will have to wait for next time to answer that one sorry.
@@DanielMann thank you so much. Excellent content
Hey man. Do you know of anywhere I can go in Norfolk UK?
Only tried a few times and never found visibility sadly.
@@DanielMann just my luck. I was living on the gold coast, just got into snorkeling and then the cost of living hit so had to move.
I find it much more expensive here in the U.K. than Australia that’s for sure.
@@DanielMann some things are. Rent and food seems more expensive in aus, child care took most of my wage.
Daniel how to dawn in the deep please
I don’t understand the question sorry.
Like number 979...come on let's make it 1k! Aweh Dan the Man!
My static is 3min but i dont feel comfortable and feel discomfort when i spearfish at more than 15m
Is good man ❤

You don’t need a license in Italy.
@@DanielMann Hello Daniel, thank you for your videos and answer. Your works helped me understand a lot about this wonderful sport.

Lots of thanks to three of you ❤❤❤
"Quick warm-up dive to 30 meters" 😂

Nice video. How the hell an Englishman and an Italian went for spearfishing in Greece... hahahahaah. You should try to contact Giannis Sideris. Or Manolis Giankos, and arrange something.
Both fantastic spearfishers. Giannis doesn't live too far from here so maybe next time.

@@DanielMann yeah correct. Good balance is what's needed especially with deeper dives.
I can feel your lionfish pain 😂😂 from experience, they can be HORRIBLE. Lucky you didn’t get got too bad.
I was really worried for the first 10 minutes feeling it get worse.

Cannot quantify the amount of stress I feel watching him get drug behind that boat while in gear
Why is that? Boat is always going forward and will push him away from the propellor.
