Many sides to this issue with AFKing at Fasnacht. Let us know your thoughts. Either way I wanted to share showing that the event is able to be soloed.
Easy to solo the event if there aren't enough AFKers there to ramp up the mob spawn# and the final boss isn't too tough. That's when you realize you may not have brought enough fuel lol :P I managed it last night as I have been until the Legendary Sheepsquatch came and killed all but one of the bots. Someone showed up at the very last second and helped finish it off, or all 5 prob would've died

@@MrMorp76 I don't have numbers, I will try to keep track the next few times I run it. I'm on super late/early morning EST, so i end up with 1-2 i have to solo, about 50/50 there are a bunch of AFKers. I have def noticed an increased number of Radtoads at the first stop, and more suiciders at the second. I will take note of numbers. More wolves or bloodbugs too i'm pretty sure. But I am fairly certain there is an increased number of the first two at the least.
@@gootvansquid I have noticed on private, when I kill stuff super fast, less waves come out, if I chill a bit, more waves come.
All those afkers are effecting much more than just Fasnacht. they are all taking up space on the servers instead of active players which is spreading out the active players so thin over a bunch of different servers that its making basically every other event dead which is horrible for the newer players and lower level players who are actually wanting to do stuff. Yes on my main high level I can solo pretty much everything in the game, but all these newer players or people on low level alts will just end up failing events or be unable to find people to do daily ops or expeditions with. So yeah its bad for the game as a whole.
I felt bad, I was looking for a double dip and found one going, it was a level 17 and a 31 with robots dead. I think there were at least 10 AFK, Also, it was in a nuked zone. Mad props to those low levels sticking it out!

@@FalloutKurier6 Fun times, I was at an event once, and this person was over on the side screaming at some people being afk, "I am not here to carry you jerks." I didn't say anything, but was funny to listen as I soloed the event as they were off on the side.

I dont see the point in nuking they will still get rewards and also it makes it harder for lower ranks to stay alive cuz of the rads

Well the problem is barely any enemies spawn in the event so i feel bored when i actually do participate in the event 😂 i would rather just afk in the event than actually do it.
yeh, if one person, or 24 people, same amount of enemies spawn.
There would be far less afk'ing if it wasn't a .22% or whatever chance to get what you want from the event. I'd say it promotes afk'ing because of the low chances in the first place, even if you attend every single event.

I work 5 12 hour shifts with 3 off so unfortunatly if i want some of there rare masks I have to afk I would love to be able to play more and do smash the game on my days off but if i did not afk I would be missing out on a lot, I never go afk if im on my days off tho

It takes nothing from anyone to have people afk nearby. You're going to do the event anyway, it's not like you have to work any harder or get less loot.
The people with two-shot fatman launchers saturating the entire town every time a radtoad appears are a far worse problem.

I joined the event earlier today with 12 afk players. That's half the server.
Expecting others to do the work while you spin somewhere is selfish. Sadly nuking Helvatia still lets the afk players collect the rewards.
Personally, I would love it if Bethesda hit everyone in the event radius with the Nukashine effect 3 minutes before the hour.
That would be awesome! Wake up in a random place with a mask on. Great way to find out which mask you got as a reward from the event!
Had this happen today, almost a dozen afk while two of us were running around gathering the stuff to start the event...we ended up simply hopping server and let them sit there without the event starting.
Boom, I think the more that happens the more they stay alone. Heard people say they logged on from being afk and were on a server fully alone.
Heres my 2pence. If its a server full of afkers, just swap servers. If noone is there to do the event they dont get rewarded. So let people relax.
If it was 23 people afk, I'd still just do the event. if they were there afk, or i was alone, it is the same. I don't need a full server to help for me to stay.

AFKing does hurt the game experience 1 this players are taking spots 0:04 away from servers making it more difficult for other missions to be done correctly 2 They're are also ruining the loot drop chances for other players 3 If they AFK it's not just one event they are AFK from , the whole world map is thrown into chaos This is poor sportsmanship This is cheating This is a very bad look for the Fallout community. Your loot drop % is your own. if solo or full server, it doesn't matter. I also agree, no one is enjoying this week.
You're right. I did 75 event's and not one glowing mask, meanwhile I know people with 4 and 5 glowing mask who just Afk all day and night. There not participating at all or even using Amo. Last night there was 2 of us and 10 high lvl players just spinning in circles for hour's. Most of the people who think it's fine are people who Afk. I can't bring myself to do it. How can someone not call it cheating, they are not participating at all? It's ridiculous.
I would rather see the AFKers than the event nuked. I don't mind the AFKers when they are lower level but when a lvl 1200+ is AFKing it's kind of annoying. Ultimately, it's just a game relax and have fun with it.

Love this take. Exactly how I feel.. if anyone wants to afk who am I to say they can’t? And if you feel like nuking the event it doesn’t bother me either because I will still get rewards “if” people still play and complete the event. If I feel like it, I’ll move to a different non nuked game and go sit in a chair with my rubber banner controller lol. Boggles my mind how much it bothers some people 😂😅🤦🏻♂️
People seem to think it is hurting the event. This is one of the easiest events. I bet I could solo it on a level 50. Granted, if it was only 4 people there at level 10, I could see it being tough. 1 person, or 24 people there, the same amount of enemies come out.
I work 9 hours a day M-F. So i miss 9 events during the day and about 7 at night while sleeping, so thats 15 events a day out of 24 events basically.
Thats basically 75 events during during the week.
I know that some of the masks are rare but to me i would prefer to miss the events than have my PC running 24 hours a day just to have chance at a mask. Also that really inflates your play time, when in reality you really haven't played the game.
This is just my opinion but i feel stongly about it.
Electricity costs, wear and tear on your PC/console, comes at a cost, that is for sure!
I don't get super angry or anything but people sitting afk at the event annoys me. If you don't want to do the work you shouldn't get the reward. Plus it kinda devalues the rewards for people that actually helped with the event.
Very true. Sucks to be proud of getting something awesome, and the next person brags they got it with no effort.
I saw some people afk during the day, they have a reason to not play at that time. They don't cause any problem and lost the drops from enemies. Even I was afk during some hours I cannot play because I have a life, had something to do. So I just don't care. I did the event solo. Just let them alone, do the event and get the rewards and fast travel to whatever location you want

in defense of people nuking Fasnacht, doing so makes the event more lively and interesting. not only that but doing so will make the various critters drop rare stabizing materials, which for many of us are needed to build late game things like jetpacks. as for people who AFK, i could care less. it doesn't effect me in any way, or the outcome of the event and the rewards given.
I like doing the event in the rad zone, gives it a different vibe. this is a boring event, anything to spice it up is great!

One way to look at it is it makes trading for the ones you want easier because as it is now there’s no way you’ll get them all just by playing.
AFKers bring more masks in to trade for.
I play Fallout 76 a lot, and if I am on actively playing I will attend and help out the event. However when I am going to sleep or go out of the house for a while, I'll sometimes stay in AFK. I assume that this is more or less the same story for most other people, I don't blame them for wanting more chances for loot. We all just want cool things, and it's not like the AFKers hurt anything.
Drop rates suck so bad, if we only did the event a couple times a day, for the 2 weeks, chances are we won't get anything. makes sense
Warm or cold afk folks will get rewards. If you nuke an event it could be said that you're griefing the people who are playing. At the end of the day, worry about yourself.

Sometimes i do it AFK, cause it's extremely boring. Me and my wife calling it "Boring-nacht". All you do it's just running around and sometimes shoot critters. Event is pretty long and has no chalenge at all, chances geting a mask are low, so sometimes I just afk and do my home stuff. I would be happy if Fasnacht be more interesting event.
If they didn't have extremely desired rewards, I would skip this event everytime
I never used to. However, this year broke me. I mean, the donation box was great to encourage people to be generous.
However, no one's going to be so generous. As to give away a mask that has under 1 percentage of dropping, I feel.
With the addition of more plans. That's what made me ask. It's almost as hard as getting unknown. As it used to be getting the original rares.

Curious which time you get a cool mask, afk or active.
This is my first Fasnacht and I got the impression that farming AKF is the norm and not the exception. I wonder if the devs factor this in when deciding the rarity of the rewards, creating some sort of vicious cycle where people farm AFK because drop rates are absurdly low and, on the other hand, drop rates are fine tuned for a scenario where people farm AFK. Is this nonsense? I was just thinking about it yesterday.
Across the board in the game, they make Ultra rare apparel extremely hard to get. I kind of like it that way, so there are some things that are special. Even if someone Afks the entire two weeks, the odds are crazy high that they will get everything, lucky to get 1 of 21
I played on steam, the most I see is like 4-5 afk people. The other 10-12 normally run around doing stuff.

AFk players is not a problem. I do not practice it and i don't care. In general, i do not expect much from other players. Good behavior is kind of a bonus.
I have no issues with afking, im doing it and getting stuff done around the house, the issue i do have is people nuking fas and ruining the event for those without the gear to survive
One side, people taking advantage of other people doing the event to get rewards with no effort - Otherside, People actively trying to stop other people from doing the event.
@@MrMorp76 it's the easiest event though you don't need 20 people to do it and thats why it's not bad to afk and plus. Some of us have stuff to do , and most of the time someone nukes fas I see 3-4 mega turret camps at their base
@@CrispCarrotsarenicecarrot4life I assume this event is different. Everyone has terrible drop rates, and tons of people do the event every day for 2 weeks and get nothing, and are pissed that other people are getting a better chance then they are, and not doing anything for it.

I don't care one bit about people being AFK, some people really want every reward and it's once an hour who has the time to play all day and actually do it once an hour. I personally play about 1 to 2 hours every other day due to life responsibilities and I don't care enough to AFK.
At the end of the day it's just a game and AFK public events hurts nobody. I don't get why people get so upset to the point that they nuke the area and ruin it as well for people who are not AFK.
Lots of people just like to nuke people, troll people, and this is a great excuse that they can do it and not get accused of trolling.
I don't even blame the afk'ers, when I log on for dailies and see people at the event it's a reminder of Meat Week, Mothman Equinox, etc. Drop rate is atrocious and people should afk if able for their chance at rewards. Anyone upset about it should really reevaluate their mindset because it's a video game and they're hurting literally no one. lmfao
Some people get really mad about it. I wonder how many people report people. I've heard many times about this being "gamebreaking" level issue for people.
what about the rest of the events that pop up and now cant be completed because half the server is sitting in a chair playing a guitar in Helvetia and taking the server slot for a player who would actually show up and play the other 2 events every hour

Drop rates... I keep getting the robot mask - the least they could do is switch it up so I get some of the other commons.
There is no problem with afking, everybody is free to switch a server so this will impact those who are afk because the event won’t start. This is actually the best way to deal with people being afk and you feel annoyed about that 🤗

I don't care that people go AFK. What I DO care about is how crappy Bethesda's servers have been since this event launched. The more people that show up to the event (including AFKers), the worse the lag and glitches are. THAT is why I could really care less about participating in the event. I'm not saying AFKers are the cause but they certainly aren't helping the situation.
Yeh, they never seem to put enough resources into their servers. any time all 24 people show up to one place at one time, everything gets super laggy. you'd think they'd give enough juice for the server to handle everything.
I use to hate it on other events...with the short chance + work + the amount of rares. I had to start if I wanted to get the collection. Last Faschnat I only got 3of4.

Ive always participated in events but with this event i crash or freeze 90% of the time. I found that going afk reduces those chances by ALOT.

I have no problem carrying people through the event, its a pain in the ass to get enough treasury notes for gold every day. How much time does Bethesda think we have?? We have jobs and wifes and duties. So if you need to afk at an even to get the notes while your working on the other end, I got you.

Someone nuked the event I was afk at earlier, buuut my wife works from home and noticed it, then logged me right back into another server.. I got the glowing robot mask at that event. Thanks wife! You da best

Afk is not bad, but giving us week after week of the same event ruins items rarity, and that's the only thing that gets "affected" by afk

Let’s be real here. AFK’n events is bad yes nuking events is bad as well.. At the end of the day we are all trying to get the same thing. Difference is AFK’rs are just being try hards for the rewards. If I see to many afk people in a lobby I just switch servers. I try not to feed them event wins.. I don’t go out of my way to selfishly nuke the event because I don’t like the AFK’ing or whatever. You hurt the participants more than you do the AFK people.. Be the bigger man. Just switch servers.
Its not like the afkers make any difference.. Such an easy event with low spawn rate of enemies... And now that you still have rare drop chances even if 4 robots die (which i havent seen a single one dead yet) makes it even more stupid to complete... Not everyone has the entire day to play freely

My only issue is that no one joins other events when they’re all afk at the place, I’ve joined so many lobbies where other events occur that are either for the raider rep progress or nuke event set off from a player. In most of these lobbies not one player budged or moved from their spot
Hard to tell sometimes, afk you can't see their dot on the map unless the event is going on.
I only join teams for mutation bonuses, I have learned to solo most events, so people not showing up isn't an issue
@@MrMorp76 i only say this every server i have joined for xbox when i log on the fasnatch place is swarmed, i travel there and most r afk at the music places or have their controllers rubber banded running in circles, i have some lobbies where they do events but usually its a person or two

People want to nuke stuff all the time. This event seems to give them an excuse good enough that people don't call them out for it. Any other time people would yell at the people nuking events.
why should I expend ammo and time, to carry someone who only wants to get rare mask to sell for stupid prices?
Do it on private, all you have to carry are the robots. Woot Woot!
I'm not bothered about the afk, they don't affect me so that's fine. The donation box on the other hand is a joke, i try to help and be nice as i can in games, more so in fallout because the community for the most part are awesome, throw a donation box in and all the scum bags come out, so now instead of passing masks on, they are now sitting in stash box where nobody but me can enjoy until i chose to part with them.
The mask donation box is a great addition. Previous years at the end of the event, there would be bags everywhere, and the race was on to see what everyone dropped. But, as with everything, there are people there just to see what free stuff they can get, and hit loot all. I like to throw extra heavy stuff in there every time, "Why am I over weight? i Hit loot all, and there were 500 plasma cores in there, grrr"
I don't mind it....I look at it like this, the AFK players give me a chance to buy rare plans or clothing items that I might not get during the limited events.
even if there were 23 afk people, it still isn't a hard event to solo.
After 20 events and all BS , I fully support going AFK . No point in wasting my time and battery for the same 2 mask back to back

@@MrMorp76 To make it worse, they're were 4 in the band room wearing their Glowing Mask while playing instruments all at the same time. Purposely making people mad. Truthfully I wouldn't be as mad if I had one so it's kinda my luck also. I was mad but it did make me laugh. It was dark and all you could see and hear in one room were a bunch of Glowing Mask and Instrument playing lol.

AFK is a problem and isn't right. Quite simple you don't participate you shouldn't get a reward.

I’m on Xbox one. I did like a dozen for real. Half froze. One of them let me load back in, in time. One time I finished it and got no rewards. I discovered the bed in my camp across the river is in the event zone, every time I do it from there, I get the reward. If I see less than 6 people, I’ll try to help but over 10 and I’ll crash, so don’t have much choice.

I took last Thursday off and played 14 hours on the weekend doing nothing but fasnacht and expeditions. I’ve done over 40 events and I’ve received nothing glowing. I also AFK the events at night. Last night some idiot nuked the event and guess what. I still got every single reward for the event. Nuking accomplishes nothing because I’m still afk and I’m still getting shit drops. 😂

As much time as this game takes up, and as much money as people spend in the atoms shop, people have to work. You can solo the event easy. Afking is fine imo, it doesn't effect anyone else. I afk and give away dupes. If anything it helps the community with more items, whether you sell them or give them away doesn't matter.
I try every fasnacht to get as many mask as possible. I love Giveaways!

Why get pissed off about it? Anyone can do it. If you cant play a round or two, please afk away. Get those rewards. Ill afk, and when i can do the event, i will.

Afking is not an issue at all. An issue is that everybody seems to fighting over who got to shoot first. And then, i myself afk. 😅

the people who afk here is just annoying. play the game and grind like everyone else. the worst part is that the other two events are ruined each hour because half the server is just sitting in Helvetia rather than actually playing the game. i had Eviction Notice pop up and only me and 1 other dude even showed up for it and we had no chance at finished the event. its just lame to ruin the rest of the server so you can get a mask in a video game
Very true. It is odd, Fasnacht is easy to solo, and people lose their mind at the people AFK, but other events that actually fail people don't bat an eye.
You make the false assumption that people who are doing Fasnacht would show up to other events. If I'm not grinding levels or score I don't pay attemtion to events at all, unless it drops something I need.

The easy way to stop people AFKing would be turn on the need for food & water. But that would just too hard. And yes i have starting AFKing the event because having played the game since year dot, i don't have any of the glowing masks or 2 of the original rare masks (Crazy Guy & Raven).
I miss that. That was how the game was at launch. no eat or drink, you die.
It can be solo'd... Other players actively playing just makes it go faster. No, AFK'ers are not a problem.
Actually had trouble on private, the Blue dude killed one of the robots at the end, fast too!

is not mandatory to participate In any Event AFK doesn’t effect the game or the players that are participating The only solution to stop AFK just agree with players to fail the event every one should agree to leave the event no event no rewards 🤣

I’m at work and hold a regular job. I don’t have the luxury of sitting at my computer all day and playing games. This is the reason I go AFK. Is this unfair for me to take a single spot on a server? I give all my mask away to my friends anyway.
I have work and kids so I afk a couple hours a day so I can get my life done and still get a couple masks at least, if the odds of gettin' a mask weren't so incredibly low I guess people would play the event more and I gotta say the Reveille Trumpets ain't helping for people to stay and actually play the event >
Trumpets Blow. it was funny, i saw people running up to afk people and doing the gift emote, like it would get them to stop afking.

Yeah, this morning matter of fact I ended up failing the event because 5 players were there but all of them were AFK and I, even with my cremator build and power armor, couldn't keep the robots alive. Wasted all that time.
I was soloing on my private, which i do every hour I am on, and I had my first one where a robot died. at the end the blue devil ran up and killed one of the robots before I could kill it. 4/5 alive DOH!
I help get the event going and then AFK. Perfect time for a break.
Funny hearing stories of AFK people complaining that they come back and didn't get any rewards and realize they are on a server by them selves
Not bothered what folk do everyone plays thier own way.Did it for the first time the other night & still got nothing but crap.Its the event that's broken not the way it's done.Drop rate is so pathetic you can't blame them.

If they "do something" and afk doesn't exist the people complaining it's hard will still complain. A lot of us are afk while we feed kids, pay bill, do adult things. I don't give two shits what some whiny ass kids think lol.

Bad or bored events with great drops = people farming it afk. Bethesda made the problem players find the solution xD

If there are more then 8 people at the event I'm afkin 👌 if there isn't enough people to finish the event then I'll help, I'm level 400 so I'm taking the events easy period so newer players can experience the event fairly 🙏 if u have a problem with afkers thts on u
I've seen people say "ahh there are 8 people afk, i better switch server" That is the main thing i wanted to get across, it is an easy event, those afk people won't make the event fail. That seems an argument people have that is just not accurate.
Eh honestly with how low the odds are on getting a mask, i don't blame them, i did fascnacht over 50 times before i got 1 rare mask, it's a joke

I don’t mind because I do the same but also I make sure I sell for cheap just like I did for meat week and also drop plans here and there for people.also do events solo when there’s a lot of AFK

I got the glowing rare mask I wanted plus the butter churn within 8 events, 3 of which bugged out and gave no reward so yea done with the event any ways.

I don’t have any issues with ppl going AFK. Fasnacht is a boring and easy to solo event. Take out the rare masks and probably no one will do it anymore. On the other side nukers just make it harder for new players to participate, while AFKer still get their rewards. It’s stupid to nuke Fasnacht imo. Also a lot of people complain about AFKer bringing nothing to the event and same ppl waste their time trying to push AFKer out of the event area. So what are they bringing to the event? I think nukers just use AFKer to justify their d** moves
I agree. Afk'ers don't bring anything, but cause no harm, nukers actually make the event bad.
I do it every now and then but not just sitting at an event. I sometimes bring in an alt in the last few seconds to get a completion. I don't like just sitting there doing nothing during it though. I don't care about cosmetics or masks though so I haven't done this event even once.
Yeh, if you don't care about the masks, this is not an event I'd do otherwise. Well, I would at least once.

Afk is not to bad i do it sometimes things happen so i have to ,but i dont like the drop rate on the masks i get common masks all the time an only get a rare mask once in a days time twice if im lucky but i dont think afking is affecting that.
Drop rates are awful. Even if you afk every event, you won't get everything unless you are lucky
I'd love to actually play the event it's a super easy event to do but every time I participate in anyway I crash but when I'm afk playing music I don't

Yeah, there's that. Some people are not AFK but they're also not doing anythig but waiting at the finish line to melt the legendary creature before other people have the chance to tag it. I know where to position myself so this is not a problem for me but people doing that seem suddenly very eager to finish the event even if they did nothing to contribute during the whole thing.

I dont understand the hate towards afk people. I do it sometimes because the event will come along when im doing a uni assessment. I don't want to miss out on the rewards because i cant be on there, especially when people are selling the stuff from fasnacht for tens of thousands of caps.

Sure, you can do it with just a few people, but at some point you'll be really annoyed. Even if it's "easy", why should I do all the work for lazy people? Would you do the same at work, even if the job is "easy"? In the meantime, I report every AFK player (even if nothing will happen in the end, unfortunately). Then just before the event I leave the world and enter a new one.
I wonder how many people report. I did hear of people getting banned for public grieving, posting names and pics of people afking online. That is against the terms of service.
@@MrMorp76 These people also need to realise that they are destroying the public lobbies by taking slots. Sometimes the worlds are full of AFK players who are only in Helvetia, when other events start we usually don't get enough people. I want to play in a public world because of the other players, but now it almost feels like a private server. And I hope that Bethesda bans for this reason. As you can see, it's always a matter of how you report someone. The game is disrupted by this behaviour in many mechanics.
@@HSNPSA45 Bigger problem in the middle of the night when it seems they lower the amount of servers. During the day the seem to make a new server when more and more people are on, middle of the night they consolidate., so you are more likely to hop over and over and keep going into the same ones
@@MrMorp76 The other day we couldn't do Earle because of that. I'm a level 81 myself, all the players who joined were no higher than 120, and there were only three of us (81, 94, 120). In Helvetia there were no less than 13(!) AFK players, many of them level 300+. I reported every single one of them to customer support with the exact same reasoning that they were disrupting gameplay and mechanics. Keep it up, at some point Bethesda will realise that their game really suffers from this kind of behaviour. Then the bans will come. Or at least make such behaviour impossible.🤙🏼
@@HSNPSA45 Very rough. Did you know that Earle is Instanced? only 8 people can fight at once. so a full server can have 3 fights going on. I've joined before while in a team with people, 3 of my team were in a fight, and I was alone on another.
Not only afker are not hurting anyone they are helping the community. They will farm the rare recipes and lower the market price for the rares and make them more affordable. Sometimes they donate shit tons of masks and plans.

I think the afk strat is a good one if it’s just you doing it on one singular account and can’t really play the event. but I can’t help but feel like there is at least a bot account or three every time I enter the fasnacth event. A bunch of accounts at like level 20-60 spinning to get one person rewards.
Edit : Also, if you nuke the event area that’s just toxic for everyone imo.

Because they don’t know how to avoid the spinning 😂 it’s pretty easy put your weapon away and go into third person, now you just need the camera to spin around 😊
@@cashiusk969 I assume there are different ways of doing it on console then PC. I see people spinning on pc too, I think on console they rubber band the controller?
@@MrMorp76 I think this should work on console as well. As I know the character is always spinning around when moving the camera and holding a weapon. When unequipped the game should allow you to spin the camera without moving the character itself. At least that’s what I’m getting when watching videos from Mr.Westtek who is for sure on console PlayStation.

All you're doing by Nuking the event is ruining the fun for players who show up without realizing, and they aren't prepared for that. Especially lower level players. Anyone who nukes the event is an a**hole imo.
And nuked AFKers still get the rewards anyway, so good job.
If you don't want to help AFKers, go to the event a few minutes early and if there are a bunch of them, and few live participants, just hop to a different server and let the event fail for the AFKers. problem solved.
