    One thing that would make Avatar stories more interesting is a little side story where the new Avatar would have to win over a former companion of their predecessor, who mourns their lost friend or even lost love so much that the last thing they want to do is help their reincarnation. Simply because the new Avatar is not the person they lost. It would make for a good story, but all the companions of other Avatars are always ready to help the new one. Having to win one over would give a nice new spin on the ‘friendships transcends lifetimes’-thing. ☺️☺️ S like this friend is calling out ‘Hey, I am here!’

    Making sokka dead before korra starts is just proof that they didn't care about preserving what made avatar relatable. It's not just about the seriousness of the world at large's politics. It's about kids on an epic adventure of self discovery. Sokka was the glue of the group, the planner, the tactician, the inventor and the local ladies man. It's a damn shame we never got to see him grow up and fulfill his potential. Sokka had Kyoshi warrior fighting (basically the avatar's personal navy seals) , fire nation sword training, water tribe tactics, boomerang aim like his name was deadshot, and he was creative. I really like this bittersweet explanation from the creators. It really makes sense to me, as I had wondered when Korra came out why Aang seemingly died so young. Also, I'd love to find some lore that talks about the life expectancy of the avatars or people in general in this world. I know Kyoshi was OLD when she died, somewhere beyond 200 or 400 years old, can't remember which. And seeing Aang as an old man here in this video and Roku saying Aang is dying young for an avatar, I'm really curious how long avatars tend to live on average.

    • @ironcz6679
      @ironcz6679 2 роки тому +36

      That depends. Technically, Aang lived for 166 years (incl. the century in iceberg), so he did have one of the longer lives. I'd say Roku's age would be somewhere around average (I think he lived to his 90s?), as it'd make sense for avatars to live some time longer than average humans (ofc there are big exceptions like Kyoshi with her 230 years and Kuruk, who lived to be only 33), depending on time they live in and on medical care that is available to them.

That may have had some ill effects on him later. 2) the lightning strike Azula gave him which nearly killed him and blocked his chakra may have done more damage than they thought. 3) I'm sure Ozai slamming him backwards into a sharp rock that jabbed him in the back to unlock his chakra probably did some damage too.

      But was that her fault? Aang was quite mischevous as a kid but he had great teachers in Gyatso and the monks as well as their ideologies. Korra had fcken tenzin, katara, the republic city leaders, all of which didn't have a spiritual bone in their body. They also were more concerned about protecting her from the red lotus rather than training her to protect herself and the world. She had idiot teachers and no one taught her to be the Avatar. She had no spiritual connection within herself. And she had no freedom.
      Its a misconception, but its easy to miss as well. There is only one Avatar that lives life time after lifetime. The person who is the Avatar, was the Avatar before and so on all the way to the first Avatar- Avatar Wan. They are the same person. The only differences (and why can distinctly see each one held different ideals and had different methods, even different beliefs, and names ofc, is because of the time of the world they were raised in, the people who taught them, the troubles in the world that they faced etc... In short, their environment and how they grew up shaped them.
      So insulting Korra, you are also insulting Aang, insulting Roku, insulting Kyoshi (and i didn't like Korra much either). But Aang and team avatar did form republic city which became a bed of problems for Korra to face. The way i see it, each Avatar life time is a chapter in their book, where they dealt with the problems of the world, succeeded or failed in certain things, and then continued in their next life to solve the problems they couldn't solve in their previous life. Avatar Wan says: "even with Vaatu locked away, darkness still surrounded humanity." Rava replies: "Don't worry, we will be together for all of your lifetimes, and we will never give up."
      Its not Raava's spirit that is reincarnated, its the Spirit of Wan that is reincarnated to whom Raava is bonded to.

    Fantastic comic, but I do feel like he could have still lived on, just without bending. It's unfortunate that's how they wrote it. I miss Aang.
    "The next Avatar must not endanger the world with juvenile decisions." Pfft!~ Meanwhile, Kora destroys relationships and the balance of everything by merging the natural and spirit worlds. Letting spirit monsters reek havoc on humans, and humans taint the spiritual world. As well as cut Aang and all the other avatars before her off from future avatars to learn from, basically erasing the history of the avatar. So all the next ones can only come to her for guidance.
    And now anybody can bend all four elements, which will eventually cause another endless war. As well as each nation to lose part of their history as they will no longer be a one element run nation like the Earth kingdom.
    Kora by far, has created a lot of havoc, and hardly listened to Aang's advice. That's probably why she hardly had an issue giving her connection to him up.

    Honestly doesnt make sense to me. Appa was in the same suspended animation and lived longer than aang? Also, there's no evidence saying that the use of the avatar state shortens ones own life force, only that they are at their most vulnerable. I think saying that the spirit water that brought aang back to life could only bring back a portion of his life force wouldve been a better explanation.

    • @Gu3ssWhatsN3XT
      @Gu3ssWhatsN3XT 2 роки тому +1

      I don’t think using the avatar state itself shortens the life I believe what shortened his life was the fact he was in the avatar state the entire time he was in the ice berg so the energy he was expending for all those years weakened and shortened his life

      Appa died shortly after Aang, if you remember Roku's dragon, it was his spirit animal as well. His dragon died with him and I think it's implied that Appa did the same. Also who is to say Sky Bison don't live hundreds of years? We learned that air nomads choose their own bison and they become companions for life. So it's not far fetched to say Appa would live the same amount of years. Remember Aang died earlier because he was using the avatar state, not because he was in ice. The Avatar state puts a massive strain on his body, but Appa was just simply frozen with him.

    Those who do not watch Legend of Korra because they miss Aang and the rest rob themselves of the chance to see them again. We see Aang in spirit form much as we saw Roku, see Sokka in a vision, and Katara, Toph, and Zuko in life. But most importantly you rob yourselves of the opportunity to Aang and Katara's children and grandchildren, Toph's children and grandchildren, Zuko's daughter and grandson, and the world Team Avatar worked so hard to build.
    I ADORE Avatar: the Last Airbender, but that does not take away from Korra who is an absolutely amazing Avatar.
