Refika, I visited your beautiful city over the weekend and while I’ve been many times before, this time it felt even more special because I kept saying ‘this is what Refika uses in her recipe’, ‘this is the cheese Refika was mentioning’ every time I ate the wonderful food of Turkey!! ❤️
Every time I watch your videos, I have a smile on my face! It's not just the food, it's the way you are able to transmit the love you put into it! Y'all are amazing! Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
Everyone at Refika's Kitchen makes cooking so interesting and fun. I started an outdoor garden for the first time and made sure to grow Corbaci peppers which seem to be similar to what I see in the videos. Can't wait until they grow big enough to try them! I just received Refika's lovely knife from the Etsy shop. It is amazing!!!
I am an old dinosaur woman that has cooked all my life and raised 4 daughters and 2 sons!!!!! However I came across this you tube by accident and it has been like a breath of fresh air for me, I have the same kind of humour and just love watching how you explain things in your beautiful turkish/english way!!!!!!!!! I have tried a few recipes and they are amazing, glad you put in the little blips that go wrong, so funny because it is so normal, unlike other British cooks/chefs etc...they seem to have a sense of humour lobotomy perhaps in a special laboratory!! who knows, when I find it hard to sleep I watch their videos and voila! sleeping like a baby!!!! keep them going, so much joy. x
@@landscapeworldy oh ,yes I know it is! I love pita. What I was commenting on was that she said she puts vinegar in and no pocket. I said that is more like naan if it has no pocket...
Ok but the etymology of the word pita comes from the Ancient Greek word petka, which meant a fermented bread, and then morphed to 'picta' for "flat bread' if I recall the spelling. The oldest known use of the word is from Greece in the... 16th century I do believe. No doubt the people of Turkey, and other countries in the area were making similar of their own around the same time as well. I mean, it's flour, yeast, water and salt... the intellectual property rights on that combination of items is probably more wide ranging than "Turkey owns this creation since the beginning of human history". Idk, what ever it is, its great in its simplicity and this recipe looks amazing, as usual! Yum Yum 😋
I actually went to Istanbul last July with my sister and we loved it. Now when I watch Turkish series I see all the places I visited. I plan to go again. The food was out of this world and everything tasted fresh and different. I plan to go to another city but I will always stop in Istanbul. It was a dream 😊
We are visiting England and went to a Turkish restaurant to try and enjoy the flavors of your country.. we went again the next day as well! Love your videos and your country’s food!
Rafika I have tried this recipe several times now, and while I don’t get the bread to puff beautiful like you, it ends up very tasty and soft. I think it might be the heat of the cast iron pan….i don’t know why really, but I’m still so happy with results. I made chicken shawarma with pita and garlic sauce for company tonight and it was all so delicious! Thank you ❤
I am living in Chile South America which I am from turkey living here since 2006 ,I love the program ,all of your videos I am watching now ,and congrats to all your team that you make a difference telling our culture and our food as a English I love it
Oh my goodness!! With all these lovely, yummy, delicious looking recipes and your marvelous crew, one can only be addicted to your blog.I really love all that I have seen till date, this is actually a different arts, habits methods or ways of cooking. Your recipes are always great as I discover each meal every time you post. They are simply new to me different from my traditional African recipes. Nice of you sharing your recipes on line, many people that loves exploring other cultures will surely love your videos👍💯% Stay blessed in God's grace. ☮️☮️☮️ And ❤️❤️❤️😄.
I love it it's great I am not very good at real donair I have tried a couple of recipes and have not been happy with it . But this dinner looks like it can be done
I made this on Saturday to try it, on Sunday because my son came over to visit and Monday because my wife asked me to make more. I made a double recipe of pita bread and my son took some home with him. I put arabic "7 spices" on it on Sunday (with some tarragon and oregano) and used falafel spice today. My son wanted tzatzki sauce so I made some of that too. Very nice recipe! Thank you! I'm still experimenting with the PIta bread - some have pockets, some don't. I do them all in a cast iron skillet. The oven takes away some of the softness and browns them too evenly - no spots.
Refika, you are incredible! I live in Australia and for the last 10 years, I have been watching most of the Turkish series eg. Yargi, Innocent, Poison Ivy etc etc. I love the way the Turkish people eat such healthy breakfasts and their food is incredible!
Refika, so glad I found your channel. I first learned to love Turkish cooking back in 1985 when I spent a month in Ismir. Since thie I have only enjoyed on the occasional trip to Germany. Now I am trying many of your recipes so I can enjoy it in the US.
As well as being a fan of the recipes; I enjoy how you all connect and have so much fun. This video was great and I'm going to try making my own pita bread soon
We've always used the exact same reicpe to make Pizza dough. Had no idea you could make Pita with it too. Have to try it with the "cheat" Doner. It looks delicious! Cheers guys! Excellent teamwork as always. :)
Oh I just love Burek... Running off to make some pita bread with mushrooms and spinach filling for me... Love you guys.... From India!!!... That meat...... Drowned in my own saliva.....
Rafika I need to let you know, youtube isNot recording my instructions to save this tutorial so I’ll forward it to my notes file so I don’t loose it. Now I feel I must double check my saves from my favorites from your posts 🤔 Thank you for sharing dear. You & your lil family of friends are such a delightful part of what I consider my online family 🥰
I love how you explain everything when you cook. I tried to make pita bread before and because of your instructions I know what I did wrong last time. Also I will try this “fake” doner recipe tot.
I like how much you all have working together, that's the way it should be & something I tried to always foster in my workplaces. Those looked lovely delicate pitas, I could happily eat them plain they looked so good. Think I'd like to sneak some sliced liver or kidney in with the steak. [Or just liver & kidney]. Adds to the flavour, brings the price down & I like to use as much of an animal as possible. Great trick with adding the yogurt to the meat before frying though. Thank you for another great video.
I have made the original doner dish from you and I love it! Now I can make the cheat recipe too! Thank you! I need to make the pita. I’ve made naan and haven’t tackled pita yet.
Awesome Recipe Refika.. ❤ I just tried your technique of activating yeast and made the pita bread which turned out amazing. And now I really want to travel Turkey by following all your delicious recipes. Love from India 🇮🇳
Hi! It is so interesting to watch your videos. Also, you have made an effort to write down the recipes. Thank you very much for being so organised. God bless!
i'm just realizing.... after jumping back to an older vid from 3 years ago...... Refika, your skin is looking great. or you have on very nice, neutral makeup. but it also seems like you lost some weight maybe? idk, there's a lot of things too including production value of the vids, brightness, just really nice things in these newer videos and i felt it needed appreciated. so very pleasant to watch. so smooth. beautiful set, always. i love this channel!!
Amazing recipes (both pita and the meat, so it's plural! LOL) I'll try this, but with lamb, we have some farmers near our house and their lambs are so tasty. Buy locally! That simple trick with the onions was so simple, when you know it. I'll be making döner 🙂 We're also coming into pride season (also known as summer, but should be all year). Happy pride everyone!
Hi Refika. Greetings to you all. I just love your group. B the baker is amazing and so is Bahar. Guess you know each other well with the rhyme. You just gave me an idea fora quick doner. Thanks a million. Love to you all.

You two are adorable !!
I always add a teaspoon of vinegar when I make the Greek pita bread ( no pocket) it makes them flexible. love from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼
Love Greek pita, thank you for the tip!
Good day to you, ✌ ❤ 🇨🇦
Is it more like a naan bread then, with no pocket?
People, pita is turkish. If you don't know, please learn.

I'm traveling to Germany soon, in an area where there are many Turkish restaurants and döner stands. I can't wait to try it all!
To which city @kimberly? Give a try for "Beyti Kebap" or "Tantuni". And "Künefe" as a Dessert. Afiyet olsun.
@@Cyrous Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. Thank you for the recommendations. 😀
