Battlecry Mosiac An ode to one who has fallen. Time and events have left it unclear whether the song refers to the former prince of Lordaeron or his beloved steed.
This song makes me fell like: "Yes, we finally did it we kill the greatest menace in our world" and at the same time "NO, IT CANT BE, ITS NOT POSSIBLE, HE IS NOT DEAD, HE IS NOT BUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" *cries*
All I know is... no game has nor ever will again instil within me the feelings I experienced the first time I entered this world. Rest in peace my old friend.
This is so touching. The name says it all. Arthas thought he was invincible when riding Invicible. And it dies and then Arthas becomes The Lich King and thinks himself invincible, quess what, he dies too. A sad ending to WoW
This is a treasure for me, thanks for putting it up on UA-cam. I started playing just before the beginning of Cata, and I admit, when I reached Lich King content with my toons, I fell inlove. BC content I also found to be very very good. Cata left much to be desired, and though I am burned out on the dailies system of Pandaria, I feel like the lore of Pandaria is well rooted and properly encouraged. But Lich King is still my all time fave.
Every time I listen to this song, it brings me back to a time when I absolutely loved Warcraft III. The storyline of Arthas was by far one of the best ever conceived and storyboarded, and this music fits his tragic end almost too perfectly. It shows that even throughout all the evil that he had committed, he has had a last strand of humanity within him and was finally reunited with his father in death. I was almost sad that the true story of World of Warcraft ended...
This is just... BEATIFUL! It almost feels like listening some kind of ending credits for a movie. This music is simply a master piece! It is just SO emotional (kinda like Lament of the Highborne)! Love it!
Actually makes me wanna play video games again... I haven't played anything for several years. Growing up sucks, I wanna be back at high school skipping class and playing WoW. Hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since this game came out. So many good memories. Nostalgia, I hate you.
It was a true story xD... Like a legend from the books... Long, cold, painful but very straight way full of strength, honor and power... It was that way what Arthas has come throu... For me the end of Warcraft is here... It was beautiful start from WC1,WC2 (with their heroes) to an arguable WoW... But the best part was WC3... Cause you weren't "just anotrher paladin\dark knight\sbdy else"...You were them... You were him....You lead your men to the north... It's you found Frostmourne, and you became a Lich king... Everyone of us (who played WC3).... It was a beautiful nordic orthern legend... without asian kung-fu pandas... =\
This is just...beyond amazing.... and I am part of the generation that grew up with war3-FT and than wow.. so the whole story of Arthas is like one of the greatest stories ever told/played and this music just makes it so much more ... it's finaly over .. damn....
whenever i hear this song it brings tears to my eyes... after all these years, after all these games and all the memories it all boils down to the one point at the summit of ICC... to me warcraft is over now. warcraft WAS arthas. rest well, last ruler of lordareon...
Why Arthas? Why did you have to fall into darkness?! You were loved, but vengeance drove you mad. Without a doubt one of the BEST story lines in history.
I just cannot get over how much this song hits me to the heart and soul, ive been with arthas since WC3 and through out the books that to this day just hearing the name Arthas fills me with sadness that such a powerful figure in warcraft history is dead. Im not sure if anyone else feels this but know you are not alone. R.I.P Arthas. You died believing you would save your people from the inevitable.
WotlK will always be my favorite expansion. It had a feel to it that I loved more than Cataclysm (joined WotlK). Wow has to move on, stay the same for too long and people will get bored, there will be nothing left to do. The thing I miss the most is Dalaran being full of people, going there and praying you won't dc, then disconnecting anyway and going back to the log in screen... Good memories. We were lucky people, those who join the game now can't experience the previous expansions as we did.
I just realized 4 of the main villains of each expansion all had something in common. They were once noble heroes or in deathwings case a guardian and garrosh will join them soon. They all had good in their hearts until they inevitably became evil. To me this song fits all of them for what they were and what they became.
In short, people don't even try to get immersed again, so they automatically go on the assumption that the game is bad. You do rise an interesting point though, which is also a point I would like to see discussed more. Thank you for rising valid arguments instead of simply hating, which is an easy thing to do. While my mind on the subject at hand hasn't changed, you've given me more hope as far as people are concerned. With MoP's epic conclusion at hand, I can't wait to see what Blizz does next.
the thing was that knights usually gave their horses the name of a characteristic or feature of them. Thats why Uther's mount was named Firm and that's why Arthas mount was named INVINCIBLE
It really is. It sets a whole new level of "realness" that you can feel in the game. Seeing the beauty of Pandaria, and seeing it being destroyed by the reckless plundering felt real. It was well done by Blizzard IMHO.
@Hilakos I fully agree. The music has really stepped up since WotLK. From Storm Peaks to Ulduar, to the songs you hear at the Argent Tournament Grounds and now the songs in Icecrown Citadel and of course this song. The music of WotLK is simply brilliant and, imo, easily overshadows any of the previous soundtracks, even though I love Karazhan's music.
Uther: Arthas..,Alas,hero of Azeroth, you give me a greater gift than you know.Long have I stuggled to forgive the prince for his terrible transgressions. My sould has been wracked with unbearable anxiety, dark thoughts..distancing me from the Light.I recall clearly the gleam of pride in his eye as he stood before me, eager to defeat the enemies of the Light...Eager to defend his people, no matter the cost.It is this memory of Arthas that I choose to keep in my heart.Thank you hero...
@HapZungLam it's in the WotLK cinematic with King Terenas narrating; and it's at the end of Warcraft III frozen throne. A variation of it is also at the beginning of the cinematic when you defeat LK.
@4sssc ever hear the quote "nothing gold can stay"? Change is the only real constant we know, and the gaming world is no exception to the rule. Whilst I would love to go back to the days of cruising around an over-populated Dalaran city, I will only have my memories of that warm and fuzzy time.
Oh, I understand just fine and I wholeheartedly respect that! Regardless of what I thought of Arthas I am still a great fan of the lore surrounding him and Warcraft in general (I grew up partaking in every game of the franchise!), the fact that I didn't think of his tale as particularly tragic doesn't take away from my enjoyment of this song~
"We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap in the dark to our success." Death knight or not , he believed in light - that's why he walked in the darkness. No hero or villain will ever replace the markings Arthas left in my heart as a person.A cunning warrior , a beautiful prince , a soldier of good , a king of the cold throne - a total badass."Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light". I shall always walk with you , Lich King.
There is still alot out there, the lore is tremendous and exciting, the old gods are still not portrayed, and we havent even seen the emerald dream.Lets just hope they bake it into a worthy story to tell like they did with Arthas.
This is about a man of Extrordinary Qualities. One who belived in the light, then lost everything. One who fought for Peace. For His Kingdom! The -One- True Hero of Azeroth. Arthas Menethil, The one who was a beliver, that fell from grace, and, what most people did not expect, He redeemed Himself. All hail, Arthas Menethil. -Amarild (Corleanofmaiev)
I started reading the lore book about arthas, but i couldnt bring myself to finish it :P. Whenever i hear the main rif of this song i get a little tear in my eye and think of that story
@zinflexy I agree with you fully. Arthas was the one who shaped the story and made it dramatic. Out of all the WoW bosses, Arthas was the one that got under my skin and tormented me personally. But keeping in mind that he is the villian, he was supposed to do this and a damn good job. Now that he is finally defeated, a part of my WoW life is gone. Every week, I salute him in his final moments. R.I.P. Arthas
@frederiksd i totally agree, everyone seems to only care about getting the best gear or having the most achievements when no one looks at what went into making these games
Thank you Arthas for turning my Troll into a DK! Arthas is probably the best thing that happened to wow.. Deathwing, though as cool as he is, will never rise to the awesomeness of the king!
@strstfu Well your opinion in honor. Arthas was created with warcraft III. While deathwing was already present in Warcraft II and older (yes, even ingame). And also i dare to say that the game is over when Sargeras is defeated. A being that could crush the lich king in an blink of an eye
Thanks for how to get song. And also this may be sad but was anyone except for me really really upset when Arthas the lich king died, I was just thinking it's not the same in wow anymore and this song reminds me of the good days when the lich king was the coolest guy in wow and that he was like super evil. Sorry for long post.
Just great, can't say that mop or cata music was worse, but this is something special. Reminds of old good days... oh god *cry in a tornado of nostalgia*
"Father... Is it... over?" "At long last. No king rules forever, my son." "...I see... Only darkness... before me..." It's amazing how even though Arthas was a bloodthirsty killer trying to turn the world into a land of mindless undead serving him... Terenas still loves his son, just like any father should.
Arthas/Lich King is one of those characters that we take seriously as a challenge, because, for those of us who played Warcraft III and Frozen throne, we made him what he was. Killing him completes the cycle. Deathwing has no such connections with us. Conquer and freeze Hell for us, Arthas.

I've recently quit the game, but I heard from plenty of players that MoP has brought that old feeling back, I might check it out again to see if it's true :P
WotLK's story ended up taking a very tragic & emotional turn with Arthas' warped psyche pushing through Ner'zhul's malice. It was an awesome direction, but I'm glad Cata didn't try to mimic it at all. No, Cata went for an oh-shit-we're-fucked ambiance, and so far it's done nicely, especially considering how maddeningly evil the heroic raids are. Giving us a reason to think that way.
TBC had the best pvp imo. Maybe I say that because I was a rogue back then, but I had the best time of my gaming life during tbc. Definitely one of the greatest WoW music tracks.
Gives me the chills... in a good way :)
Even after all these years, I can't help but hear "Daydreaming Tomaaaaatoes!" at 0:40 seconds in. Beautiful song regardless.
Fack you now thats All i hear xD
me too damn:(
It's "Detrementum A Do Sola", not "daydreaming tomatoes".
A moment of silence for the dead king
With this song wow comes to an end...
Arthas, The Lich King. He has to be the best Bad guy in ANY video Game and books ever made.
Horus from 40k is also pretty good.
i miss arthas. you shall be remembered my king!
Wotlk music reminds me of why I played this game =) such good memories
I cry for Arthas every time
+Sam T Me too... ;(
+Sam T he literally killed an entire city of innocent people. jk
+LegenDarius13 He was the pinnacle bad guy for me in wow, after wotlk I just stopped playing. It ended with him as far as I am concerned.
I wouldnt say bad guy. Tragic hero I would say. What he did was for the greater good, but he ultimately fell to corruption in his quest for revenge.
All I know is... no game has nor ever will again instil within me the feelings I experienced the first time I entered this world. Rest in peace my old friend.
"Father, is it... over?"
^---- reminds me sooo much of that moment I would cry re-viewing it...
This song, its just so amazing.. I don't know why, but it just is. Its probably one of the only songs out there that could tear me up.
This is so touching. The name says it all. Arthas thought he was invincible when riding Invicible. And it dies and then Arthas becomes The Lich King and thinks himself invincible, quess what, he dies too. A sad ending to WoW
WoW died with this Song, R.I.P Best MMORPG Vanilla - Wotlk
+Binperfekt Neither will every True WOW Fan EVER!
I have this for my Ipod, just for listening to. It's a beautiful piece...I love it, I just CANNOT describe it.

Fockin' beautiful,
A fantastic tribute to our fallen king, Forever may he reign.
"Invisible?! but you can see him..."
the chill... of this.. freezes the marrow of my bones

Their can be no Love greater then Arthas and his horse.. Invincible.

You're not alone :P
I just took a piss
Actually makes me wanna play video games again... I haven't played anything for several years. Growing up sucks, I wanna be back at high school skipping class and playing WoW. Hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since this game came out. So many good memories.
Nostalgia, I hate you.
Wow. This is probably one of my favorite pieces of music from Blizz ever.
You have to love the tragic irony in the name; his story was so sad, and even though he was very, very powerful he was anything but invincible.
Thank you for all these songs. I'm looking for a song to walk down the aisle to and this has helped me so much
It was a true story xD... Like a legend from the books... Long, cold, painful but very straight way full of strength, honor and power... It was that way what Arthas has come throu... @TheDungeonCrawler dude u deserve my thumps up.. that was just beautiful speech and u are 100% right LONG LIFE FOR ARTHAS
This is a freaking great idea man... This song is too much epic, i miss those greats expansions.
I just realized 4 of the main villains of each expansion all had something in common. They were once noble heroes or in deathwings case a guardian and garrosh will join them soon. They all had good in their hearts until they inevitably became evil. To me this song fits all of them for what they were and what they became.
they play this in heaven
R.I.P my lich king
jag älskar musiken tack du för laddar upp, I love the music thank you for the upload.
I cannot unhear this now.
1:05 (Goosebumbs)
Why, Arthas, why?! Young Price with so much potential. Why did you fall into madness?!
wow I never heard this version but it sounds even more powerful than I`ve ever could imagine
I can't put into words how much i agree with you!
this music is just beauty.

the best quality of this greatest WOTLK song on youtube
This just makes you want to go back and play it all over again :/
so much memories so much epicness so much... this is Im gonna cry :(

@DevoutSkeptic That was the very first thought I had as well, such a beautiful song.
Most epic Soundtrack in the whole World of Warcraft history!

@frederiksd i totally agree, everyone seems to only care about getting the best gear or having the most achievements when no one looks at what went into making these games
Love this song!
This music speaks to my soul.
"The dead have risen again! Sound the alarm!" "Mercy m'lord. Ahhh!"
I could not stand how fucking beautiful that was.
@oliviainyourpants
indeed a movie about arthas only till Fall of the lich king would be just fucking awesome
MoP is actually quite polished. It brings back a lot of the good elements of vanilla and has an exceptional atmosphere and interesting storyline.

Sorry for long post.
God damn it now that's all I will ever hear! Thank you for that =D
This story started in WarCraft 3, which is why it had more of an impact than the other 2 expacs, it was a direct tie in to the main series.
@greatsalsa ...Cannot unhear.
Just great, can't say that mop or cata music was worse, but this is something special. Reminds of old good days... oh god *cry in a tornado of nostalgia*
its so scary that the name lich king reminds u of snow and ice and this song chills ur bones :O i love it!!!! :D
@Corbinhair No, he wasn't a paladin at the time. He became a paladin afterward due to being unable to heal his horse.
"Father... Is it... over?" "At long last. No king rules forever, my son." "...I see... Only darkness... before me..." It's amazing how even though Arthas was a bloodthirsty killer trying to turn the world into a land of mindless undead serving him... Terenas still loves his son, just like any father should.
I want to say that that joke was in a trivia addon that I saw while playing WoW once and the correct answer was actually "lol"
Epic song and I love it, but the song has been ruined by "daydreaming tomatoes". Once you hear it, you simply cannot unhear it.
+Solarnova 0:54 DEEEEEP SAAAUCE
+Ashkan Ashrafi Ahahahhaaaa, nice find. Any more? XD
+Solarnova Crap, I shouldn't have read the comments!
It does have a lot of quality to it...at the end of the day though, it's just an old game. Played WoW from day 1..and we obviously all have opinions...but I think for most people who aren't playing now (and my friends agree) is that the problem isn't with the content they're providing..that's good. Everything is just easier. Wayyy easier. Takes way less time to do things, and you really lose that sense of pride when you earn something..because hey, everyone else already has it too.
Arthas and Invincible
Anyone else think Arthas is kind of like the Caesar of WoW? A great, charismatic statesman and general who forever changed his world by doing what he thought was right and seizing ultimate control before dying a most tragic death?
I've recently quit the game, but I heard from plenty of players that MoP has brought that old feeling back, I might check it out again to see if it's true :P
Man even reading all these odd comments gets epic if there is such an epic background music.
this songs relax me :X
This reminds me to the Cataclysm...one big chapter is ended...
Rest in peace,Arthas Menethil...My prince...My king...
This expansion had the best music, for sure.
TBC had the best pvp imo. Maybe I say that because I was a rogue back then, but I had the best time of my gaming life during tbc. Vanilla was very unbalanced in pvp, no dr, cc durations were the same to players as to mobs, no arena, it was a mess. I agree with the Thetrollinginger117, TBC>WOTLK>Classic>MOP>Cata is the best order, this guy has a clue.
