    Hello thanks for the great video. Slaying the Walley! Question, why did you pic minnows over leaches? Do you find it does a lot better or is it a time of the year thing? Thank again.

    • @YakFishMN
      @YakFishMN  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Billy! Thanks for watching!! Minnows are very much a time of year thing. Leaches are much tougher and will last in warmer weather/water. Minnows in the early season have always been what we have used in the very early season. Old habits die hard, ya know. Lol. I am trying artificial lures this year though. Should be fun trying something new. We are bringing leaches and minnows too and are heard in this Tuesday!!! Tight lines man!

    Are you allowed to trap minnows? I’m planning a trip with some friends this summer!

    • @YakFishMN
      @YakFishMN  4 роки тому

      I know my uncles and my dad did that back in the day. They would bring along seine nets. Pretty wild. I wouldn’t know though. Haven’t done it personally. I would suggest connecting with someone at Voguer North Outfitters, great guys, and/or checking the MN regs. Let me know what you find out if you don’t mind. ✌️

    What’s with all the 6 pack, Big Mac, crooked lake shaker type lingo mean? Great content! I’ve always wanted to do a boundary waters trip!

    • @YakFishMN
      @YakFishMN  5 років тому +1

      Ha! When you catch a ton of them like we did they start to look the same! It’s a joke between my dad and I. It helps us differentiate the size. Shakers are small ones. Sandwich is a nice eater. Big Mac is a 21”-23” class fish (nice ones). And six pack is in the 25” plus range aka six lbs. thanks for watching!

    Thank you for the incredible video! You caught more walleye on that trip than I’ve caught in my entire life. How many minnows did you bring on the trip? Did you ever run out?

    • @YakFishMN
      @YakFishMN  4 роки тому

      We brought about 2.5-3 gallons of suckers, chubs. We went though a lot of bait!

    i just watched all three of your video's , you guy's had a great time. no net , you did not keep any Walleye's for home or trip dinner i am very in pressed you only eat northern's ?

    • @YakFishMN
      @YakFishMN  5 років тому +2

      Yea 1 Northern for two adults is plenty for fish fry. CPR all Walleyes for all the future generations! Thanks for checking out the video.

    Awsome videos was wondering how long it took to make it to crooked? I've put in on fall and stayed on horse. Have thought about going to crooked but going through basswood river.

      We start at about 6AM and get there around 1-3PM depending. Wind makes a HUGE difference as you probably know.

    I’m going to BCWA, in 2 days with my boyscout troop, hope to catch and cook some fish, anyone recommend any spices? Going for 10 days

    • @YakFishMN
      @YakFishMN  5 років тому

      We really enjoy regular shore lunch. Otherwise Louisiana in the blue bag is good too. Little spicier. Good luck with your troop. Sounds fun!

    Going to BWCA in 2 weeks. What did you use for bait?

    • @YakFishMN
      @YakFishMN  5 років тому

      We had minnows. Suckers, chubs, shiners. Chubs, and suckers were best. Good luck on your trip!
