I flew on a BOAC 707 from New York to London in 1962 when I was 10. I love these old planes. I used to see them all fly over my house in Arlington, VA. when I was a kid. My dad worked for American then BOAC/ British Airways, under both names.
I used to love Oostend airport. Always so many geriatric oddities in the 80's and 90's. I managed to fly into it once, on a Dan Air HS 748 and we parked right next to a a Balair DC-6 unloading freight !! Went up to the terrace to watch it take off and oh what a sight. Just one of many old airliners i remember, and your videos bring all those memories flooding back. Thank you.
As a kid, I flew on American Airlines DC-6's a few times from Washington National Airport to New York. Same destination on American Electra-II a couple of times. Once on an American DC-3 also.
Great memories. I have been to Ostend in the 90s quite a few times. Had to laugh when I realized that I know the guy at 6:20 shouting "ah Feuer" very well. 🤣
Micheal Kruger pushed his DC 8 and fight crews to the max. No other commercial 20 year old plus aircraft except the 707. Could have taken such a beating. Almost always over grossed and overlooked regular maintenance. I love those old aircraft!
still flying the -55 model in the late 90s explains it all :D. seeing those birds getting regular beatings is kinda creepy but fascinating at the same time.

The Boeing 707 will always be my nr 1 plane. Pure elegance en class in every way. X

Those JT3Ds screech!
Of all airports I've been to, Ostend in the 90's was unbeatable when it comes to the amount of oldies.
The whole airport is very old
Yes, fond (albeit cold) memories of the Thermal Palace Hotel and the nearby Farmhouse Restaurant/ Pub were the best.
Amazing video mate other subscribers big like from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
Been there, done that back in 1971. It was number one engine at rotation for me. It ate a prairie chicken !!
The good old days at Ostend!
Amazing engine smoke on DC-8.

Magnifique DC-8 ! Dommage que l'on en voit plus...
Look at the smog! Dirty engines back then.
Um, a flame-out and a Compressor Stall are two different things. A flame-out is actually fuel starvation.
