Mr Joker, if you're out there, just know that you are missed. I'm still trying to get used to the crew without you. That said, I get not playing anymore. It's only worth it if it's fun.
I actually didn't like Mr Joker at first. (Honestly, he irritated the crap out of me!) But he really grew on me, and I definitely miss him being on the crew now.
From what I can tell, he was really bored with playing Skeld (which the others love) and really liked airship (which nobody else liked). Basically, the game became boring. There may have been other gameplay things, but the maps were things that I actually heard him say.
As a environmental scientist and natural resources guy. The south side will get more sun in the northern hemisphere. The more latitude, the more of an effect you’ll get from north and south facing.
We deliberately picked a lot with a south facing backyard to take advantage of the windows along the back wall to get all the sun for this exact reason lol
The problem with the heat from your PC heating your room isn't the PC's cooling. Actually, the better it cools, the faster the room will heat up, since you're just transferring heat from the PC to the room faster. To achieve better results, you need to look at cooling the room better, if possible.
Agreed. No matter how well the PC is cooled, it'll effectively need to dissipate the same thermal energy to the room. A PC is basically a space heater, more efficient heat transfer into the room will just heat up the room quicker. He could setup a system with less power hungry components, or he could remove the heat source from the room by ducting the exhaust or moving the PC to another room, but personally I'd look at figuring a way to cool the room better. He could make that room it's own climate control zone. Additionally better insulation from outside heat (particularly when the room is south facing), and using materials which are less heat retaining for flooring, etc, would help as well.

21:46 Tango, you pc outputs the same amount of heat into the room regardless of cooling solution. Processor (both CPU and GPU) generates finite amount of heat based on processor usage and efficiency. That heat exists in the room when pc cooling is optimal, because it means heat from the processor itself has been successfully removed from the processor and into the environment.
It's largely the same amount of heat, but the cooling solution effects the equilibrium temperature, which changes the resistivity and the need for more error correction, producing even more heat. It's only observed in really large scale computing though.

I had issues with a super heated room during summer with my PC on. All I did was use a duct from the output fans to the window and It cooled it down a lot. Then seprate one to a cooling system now built into my desk controlled by a corsair unit. Best modifcation I have ever made.
Yep. A bit of direct sun in winter, and lots of indirect sun the rest of the year. That coupled with the computer in that room are gonna make a ton of heat in there. I recommend a minisplit AC for that room. If he gets a better cooler for his PC then that room will heat up even faster.
If your room is getting hot because of your computer that means your cooling system is working, the energy your computer uses has to go somewhere. Water cooling is more effective at cooling proccessors, but that means it is better at radiating heat, so your room will be hotter. AMD cpus are more efficient now because they are using a much smaller transitor size, so that would generate less heat.
i used to have a problem with the hot computer too. I now have it out in the open rather than under my desk or in the little cubby hole, under a permanently open window. I know your pain :(
I work form home since last year, office is in the basement but I don't need a heater in the winter here because of my computers. I have a ton of electronics, and even now with it 70 outside I still have to run the AC to keep the room cool lol I thought about getting my own AC but that means drilling through 100 year old concrete and brick walls.
Tango i just heard your conversation on your southern exposure room being hot. I live in so. calif. and the south bedroom in our house is the hottest room in the house all summer long. Even though the sun rises in the east and sets in the west loo at where the sun is in the sky, its more to the south than straight up and down. you will need a fan to help circulate the air from your ac or get a separate ac for that room. I go through this every year, its great in the winter but hell in the summer.
If you want passive solar energy, you should have south facing windows. Because your window is facing south you are getting that passive solar energy l, but in that room, it’s unwanted
so if anyone happens to be watching this years later and is having issues with heat. SOUTH is the worst direction to face for sun. because we're in the northern hemisphere, the sun will always be slightly south, expecially in the winter. my family installs solar panels and thats why you always orient them south.
Water cooling won't help room temp. Less wattage dissipated or air circulation out of the room. Look into capping frame rate maybe. Among US should be a breeze for you PC but if it's rendering 500 fps, it's not useful.

There are a lot of interesting builds where the computer is built inside a refrigerated case. That might help with the heat issue...
A refrigerator also produces heat. so you will need some way of getting that heat out of the room same as with an AC.
