A free trainer is exactly what DCS needs. It allows DCS players to convince their Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, War Thunder, IL2, Arma friends to try out DCS. They can try without fail with an experienced friend in the back.
Honestly? And the Goshawk and Skyhawk? You can even land on Carriers with them! Also your "friend" will want to fly with you in annother plane. Backseater Trainers - No one want's to do that :)
@@WanderfalkeATyou’d be surprised. I run with a unit as neeely a full time instructor. Nothing is better than having someone with you real time in the back seat showing and demonstrating things live. The closest we get for those who don’t have multi crew aircraft (specifically the trainer jets) we have them stream their cockpit through discord and talk them through it. But those students/group members score consistently lower and take significantly longer to catch on.
Pretty excited for a free trainer. I'd really like a basic aircraft like a trusty C172 as well. That would essentially complete the training pipeline for new players trying to get into the sim from other sims or even people getting into simulation in general.
Looking forward to the Upcoming Falklands Map updates along with the Chinny, and Afghanistan map system. For the Moment I'm DCS'ing on my own until ED starts to get things right and improve their professionalism. Great Video M8, thanks again...

Winwing again - A comfortable looking FFB Base to have between the legs. I think even if the price is higher than that "stone block" I might give it a try. Guys I keep repeating myself - But get the TM Cougars, even for the Helicopters like AH-64 and OH-58 they became essential to me. Not to mention how much they add to Harrier, Viper, Hornet, Strike Eagle and others. They are goddamn cheap and you are so much faster using the ingame MFD's with them. I even use 2 sets of them for the Eagle. Before buying a new HOTAS, this should be a easy and very helpful addition. The missing displays in them are really no reason to not buy them, in VR or with Track-IR you honestly don't need them.
As an ex infantryman, a soldier patrolling on foot would never be caught by surprise by any helicopter, as it was heard long before it could get into any position to make an attack, but locked up inside an APC or IFV was very different, you quickly realise that you would be dead without any warning at all…
Hoping that Winwing will start selling the Thrustmaster/Virpil adapter for their FFB Base when it's released. It's been "not available" from their store for a long time now. If they do, I can consider it. Otherwise I think I will get the MOZA, as long as I can set an offset to the stick...which I think is what their locking Z axis will accomplish, but haven't heard details about that yet other than what MOZA lists in the pre order.

I'm happy they are looking at ground AI improvements , very exciting. I have not touched DCS for a while now, but was there something about weather conditions( i.e. cloud cover ) was not being taken into account in regards the AI ability in detecting you ?
I hear you. Really frustrating AI has unlimited visibility. Semi-realistic AI would mimic human pilots; what we have is a pretty basic algorithm with the overused AI terminology slapped on.

Especcially if it has to do multiple of them in groups fighting each other. For a human player that is just his eyesight, but AI doesn't eyeball you, it just knows the position in relation to you and acts accordingly. What you would have to program into AI to do real eyesight or something like a locator beam to you with obstacles in the way especcially cloud layers... You can imagine the work and CPU power it would need. Not to mention that the AI might need to keep a focus beam ignoring other threats that aren't in this beam to simulate real eyes. Even if they start to use the AI Cores in the newer NVIDIA Cards - For older systems that would mean lotsa low fps! And then there is the Multiplayer implementation - Can you imagine how hard it will be to transfer the additional Data for the AI in real time?
I love your videos. I know this isn't your problem, but I have a problem with the Kiowa. It won't run on my desk top and it cause my laptop to crash. i did repair 3 time reinstalled still won't work.. My problem i have submitted two repair request but no repair ticker. Been with DCS 8 to 10 years never had this problem.. Are repairs handle differently other than user support. Thanks for your help.
Related to the hardware industry, don´t forget the effect of games as Star Citizen, in which a lot of people invested incredible ammounts of cash and also spending tons of money for hardware in the hope to become more competitive or more immersed. Compared to flight sims this community is much larger I think.
One of my frustrations with ground AI was that there was no way to set up an ambush with dismounts. Any ground troops within range were instantly sniped, no matter how you tried to hide them and still provide a field of view/fire. I hope the tweak does provide a randomized reaction time dependent on crew/unit states
It would sure be nice if the game actually gave units a "visual RCS" that modified the detection range based on the size of the unit so infantry were spotted by AI at a shorter range than small vehicles, and small vehicles were detected at a shorter range than large vehicles. Alas, DCS AI have always had extremely simplified (and unrealistically perfect) spotting. I've been pushing for the exact changes to DCS ground AI that this update *claims* to implement for literally over a decade. But given ED's habit of over-promising and under-delivering (or *never* delivering), I'm skeptical that they've actually made it work right. I'll believe it when I see it.
I wouldn't call it a return, until it's affordable, and no, I don't consider $700-$1000USD affordable. I am an avid flight simmer and have been since 1982, and even I cannot justify more that $500 for a joystick, this is why I liked the Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo controls so much. We don't need a bunch of highend stuff, we need good quality mid-tier stuff.

Unless we get a lot more competition I can't see that happening, especially since some of the major retailers are selling standard cam/spring based systems for that price.

The adapter was only a limited edition. The store page says, that the production was only a one time thing.
