- My husband, Jerry and I took a 2 week road trip to Glacier National Park. We backpacked and hiked for 6 days. We day hiked on Grinnell Glacier and also briefly hiked along the Highline trail at Logan Pass. We saw so much wildlife on the day hike to Grinnell Glacier. Mountain Goat, big-horned sheep, a marmot, a mountain lion, ground squirrels (they crawled all over us) and moose!! The views were unbelievably epic and more beautiful than any other place I've ever seen! We can't wait to go back!

This video is from the hike on the first day to Grinnell Glacier and Highline trail. Backpacking video coming soon. :)
Absolutely gorgeous. I would have cried too. Nature is everything. I remember the day I saw the Grand Canyon it took my breath away and I cried like a little kid. Not everyone understands how we feel . Thank you .
That is true and there's something about seeing things so beautiful that changes your perspective!
Oh my gosh, it’s so beautiful!!! 😭😮❤️ I literally yelled this multiple times at the TV as I was watching this. My bf and I have been wanting to go to glacier for a long time but it’s just so expensive to get there from Kville. One of these days!
You are cracking me up with the "Chipmunks". Thanks for sharing this beautiful place and all the wildlife.
I’m planning on a road trip across America. And this is definitely on the list. Thank you for the amazing video and view!
Wow, Thoroughly Enjoyed this video, Fantastic, ty
I've been looking forward to this video! Thanks for sharing and I can't wait until the next one. Those are some incredible views!
Phillip Rich I’m so glad you enjoyed it! More to come. ☺️
What a great video?! Thanks for sharing!
This was a spectacular hike! The views were so amazing, and the music was great.🌲😀
Beautiful place. I'm looking forward to going back in 2020. Thanks for the video. I know how it is! I have a million pictures!
Amazing views I would love to go back one day, love your videos
That is some Amazing scenery. I have watched almost every one of your videos, and this one is my favorite. It just doesn't get any better. 😊
Thank you for inspiring us to go to glacier and do this hike
Beautiful and breathtaking!
The ground squirrel😂😍
So awesome!!
Just discovered your videos. my wife and I live in East Washington and we are from Alabama. I can hear you southern accent so I enjoy seeing other people up here with a southern accent. We love it up here. There so much breathtaking hiking in the PNW... Great video!!
You all have inspired me to go on a hiking road trip!!!!
WOW!! Beautiful views!! And...one very brave ground squirrel! (with interesting fur colors, too)
That squirrel was nuts LOL!!
Holy cow, what a beautiful hike! Awesome video. 🤓
KrizAkoni thank you!! ☺️ It’s such a beautiful place!
Great video. Aside from bears y'all nearly captured pretty much the best variety of wildlife Glacier has to offer and you got it all in one day. Amazing. Having been to Many I now wish I did the hikes you went on. Maybe 2019!
Wow! That's awesome!
Kim Hill thank you! It’s a beautiful place!
Thank you - amazing video of an amazing hike. We did the Grinnell Lake walk and that was nice but the views on this walk are just WOW. Must go back to Many Glacier.
Glacier is so epic but this trail was amazing! We are ready to go back too!
You know I've been SO looking forward to this, and as usual, you didn't disappoint. Now that I'm older, I'm not concerned with the whole "macho" thing, so I can tell you that I had a little moisture in my eyes right along with you! And that from just watching the show. Can't imagine what you two must have felt being there. Thank you, G and J, for bringing us along for the hike! Can't wait for the next installment!
Of course, you realize you've just added another item to my bucket list!
Best to you both,
Steve
Aww I’m so glad you liked it Steve!! Yes, it’s so hard to truly convey in video how epic that place is. More video coming soon though. Stay tuned! ☺️
I will! And have you noticed how the angle of ascent is never clear in vids? I've done some pretty steep rock scrambles, but they always look almost level in the video. One other thing- I've been asking all my hiking contacts what they use for editing software. I'd like to do actual vids instead of slideshows.
Yes its crazy how it never looks steep at all in video lol. Some good editing software is Adobe Premiere Elements, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro. Right now I mainly use an app on my phone called Filmmaker Pro because my computer can't really handle video editing software lol.
I just found your channel and I’m excited for your AT thru hike. Oh my gosh, my family and I went to Glacier last July and your video almost made me cry, I want to go back so bad! It’s just magical!
Wow your b roll shots of the park are amazing! thanks for the cool video
I’m glad you liked it! Thank you!
absolutely great video at a great place
vegasdavetv yes absolutely! We love Glacier!
This has gotta go on my Must Hike list!
Wow. Amazing place. You captured some excellent lighting I haven't seen in other videos from GNP. Great job.
VonzoOutside wow thank you very much!!
I have 400,000 pics of that lake too, LOL. It's hard not to! FYI, those snow fields are glaciers. That's Salamander Glacier over the lake, then Grinnell Glacier to the left, and Gem Glacier is the little round one up top.
I love your video, we are heading there this summer and this video is very helpful in helping me plan!
Fantastic! I’m glad I could help. It’s an epic place!
Hello my hiking friend. The scenery in your video is so amazingly beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. Glacier Park is such a beautiful part of God's creation. The chipmunks are cute but very aggressive. You had beautiful shots of big horn sheep and moose. What a historically beautiful day. You and Jerry be safe, enjoy and always have fun. 🤗
It was a wonderful epic trip we’ll never forget! We plan to visit again though hopefully soon!
As good as it gets.
Just found your channel, amazing!
Thank you! ☺️
This is on my list as soon as the parks open up. I have had this trip planned for a year. Corona won't keep me down, damn it!
i used to live in kalispell, this makes me want to go back
I’d love to live in kalispell. I’d be in Glacier all the time.
I lived in Lakeside for 6 months
So what other trails did u hike while in Glacier? Any favorites?? I have hiked in Glacier the last 4 years and love it. Have done a lot of day hikes and did some a Backcountry trip 2 years ago. Grinnell Glacier is gorgeous and so is the Highline Trail. A couple of my favorites.
We backpacked through Many Glacier from Poia Lake to Indian Gap pass and back. I loved Red Gap pass and Indian Gap pass so much but Grinnell Glacier might have been my favorite because of ALL the animals!! :D
@@HikingwithBraids yeah I watched your video. Brought back memories. I was in that same area kind of. I stayed at Helen Lake and then stayed to Glen's Head were you guys ate lunch before you went up Stoney Indian Pass.
I hiked many places in Glacier nat'l Park including the Highline trail in August 4 to 6, 2020... It was nice to see the rope anchored into the rock, but the trail was wide enough that the rope wasn't necessary at all, but still good to see it there.... Gosh, I miss Glacier nat'l Park and I hope to revisit again someday, but I doubt I ever will considering I live in Florida.
We were there in July...I love the smokies....BUT, Glacier NP is on a whole different level...we only did day hikes...it would have been hard to travel with all the necessary overnight gear on the plane...the best hike we did was the highline trail to granite park chalet....want to go back...bad....still waiting on the Kephart Prong hike video..lol....😁
I agree, Glacier is unworldly!! You can carry a backpack on a plane (UA-camr David Gray has done it) although its definitely harder than driving I think, but next time we go we're definitely flying lol. I wanted to backpack Highline but we couldn't get a reservation for Granite Park campground so we'll just have to go back. ;) I haven't forgotten that you asked - I will hike it soon I promise! :-)
Great video, You should do a video in Yellowstone national park (Wyoming) I just went to yellow stone last year it was beautiful.
Yellowstone is definitely on the bucket list!
Absolutely gorgeous! What month did you go? We are trying to plan a trip soon.
Beautiful view but id be scared
Beautiful scenery! What kind of camera did you use to record this video? GoPro?
omg that ground squirrel has no shame. lol.
Thanks , great video! A small request - can you indicate which state these parks are in - non US resident, so location helps a lot. Thanks.
I never thought about that! Thank you for pointing that out! Glacier National Park is in Montana 🙂
This video is all in Glacier National Park, Montana, FYI.
Starts from Many Glacier Hotel (walk can be reduced in length by catching boat to end Josephine Lake)
Is there a parking lot right at swift current lake trail where you got on? Is this trail one you pull off of on Going to the Sun Road?
Thanks for the videos! Me and my wife are planning a trip to GNP in August and starting to plan itinerary. Could you recommend the best 1 night overnight Backcountry hikes for for us to look into? We are moderately experience hikers. TIA
I don't think you can go wrong anywhere in Glacier. It's all absolutely beautiful! We backpacked in Many Glacier area. Check out this site it has a lot of great info and also some suggested hikes. www.cleverhiker.com/blog/glacier-national-park-backpacking-guide
Beautiful. I'm planing to do couple of hikes there this summer. What month did you go? Is early July good to go there?
just amazing! definitely a bucket list item for me. Was it crowded or did yall basically have the area to yourselves
Jeff Skittenhelm there were quite a bit of people on this trail but it wasn’t too bad. I was able to film without too many in the video ☺️ They say the tourists die off after Labor Day. This was the day after.
What was the total distance you went in the 6 days you hiked? Some friends and I are thinking about doing this hike and wondering about how far we should plan to go in a day
Oh my goodness!!! I defiantly wanna hike these trails. Thanks for the great video.
What month did you go there?
This was the first week of September
Very nice video with great camera shots. You have a keen eye. Have you done a video detailing your video gear?
Just found your channel and are a big fan. Subbed!
Thank you!! I haven't but that's a good idea. :)
What did you do for your backpacking trip? Do you have a video of that? Trying to plan one myself!!
Hi Jacob - here's a link to our backpacking trip video: ua-cam.com/video/rah0QTryIzY/v-deo.html :-)
I think Glacier is the crown jewel. I was there in 1998 and to this day it sticks in my mind as one of most beautiful places I have ever seen. Did you get to make it out onto Grinnel Glacier? The rangers would carry x number of hikers out onto it when I was there. A special moment. Seeing the ground squirrels at the iceberg lake was epic. I was eating a snack and one was working his way into my pack. How do you describe those little guys.
Headed to Glacier next month. Just curious what camera you used for this video. Quality is awesome!
For most of this video, I'm using an iPhone 7s Plus :)
We are headed back to Many Glacier in June. We are hiking to Grinnell Glacier if the trail is open. We haven’t been there in 12 years.
What date were you there? We are going to Glazier in mid September for 2 weeks this year . Loved this video!! We can't wait to go!!!
Great video . I have a friend who's going to do this trail . She doesn't hike what kinda shoes would you recommend ? I suggested Keen's because of easy break in . Your a opinion would be appropriated . thanks
We wore trail runners on this hike and for this trail they worked fine but for longer or different trails in Glacier, I definitely suggest sturdy boots because it’s very rocky. Since everyone’s feet are different, it’s hard to recommend a brand but I’d recommend if she has a REI or outfitter nearby, to go try on shoes and buy the ones that are the most comfortable with some sturdy soles. I hope that helps!
@@HikingwithBraids thanks for the information
Great videos of GNP! Did you do both of these trails on the same day? What time did you leave in the morning to do Grinnell? Where did you park?
Yes we did but we only hiked the Highline trail a mile out because it was too late and getting dark. I don’t remember the time but it was early and there’s parking lot for this trail.
I really love that hike is beautiful what kind of camera do you use
Such a beautiful place! I use a Sony a5100 and an iPhone 7s plus :)
Hiking with Braids thank you

I followed your channel recently and my wife and I are super-excited to follow your AT hike. This came up as a recommended video just now. Some friends and I hiked Grinnell Glacier in September. ua-cam.com/video/RIGt6ARvw3w/v-deo.html It’s so nice to relive this hike through your video. Good luck on the AT. Cheering you on from northwest NC.

Peccato che facendo queste cose si muore giornalmente ed è successo anche oggi ma l'importante è non parlarne altrimenti il turismo sacro ne risente $$$ :

How can a person afford to be away from work and still afford travel expenses. Unreal. I am currently unemployed and homeless and sleeping in a garage. Life can be either awesome or awful. I've worked hard most of my life to end up where I'm at . Pitiful. Sorry I went off topic.
win I go hiking am not listening to music I am listening to the wildlife take out the music please thank you. 1/9/2022
I hate squirrels they look like rats
