Thanks for checking out the new Sky Walker - so glad you're loving it for that stable to slightly stable spot. Happy release day!
W
Thank you Discmania & CW! This disc is so sick! Parked the first 3 teeshots I threw it! All 300+ birdies. This teal rim almost should be a -1 turn. Absolute banger!
I would love to see a series where you talk about the history of discs. As a pandemic player the evolution of discs is very interesting to me.
Oooo... I do like the history of discs 🤔
This is a great idea. You're a killer storyteller David. Your videos always have a good flow, hit the important points and have just enough humor. There really is a lack of good history content for disc golf. At this point I think a lot of us are craving some more in depth content. Maybe a series showcasing a few of the pros over the last couple decades? I bet a lot of pandemic golfers only KC's name from the Champion discs. @broderic did that video on Will Shusterick a while back that was super entertaining.
@@ApolloDiscGolfAgreed, would be awesome since this was the first time I had realized the reason DM didn't make certain discs before taking over their own production was Innova not wanting DM to crowd their market. Very interesting stuff.
100% agree, Im always happy when I see a new Apollo review. You always get tidbits with your reviews, and as a player that maxes out around 400’ I know I can rely on your reviews for similar results.
I concur on this. You and Brod are my go to for the history of discs. I smell a collab series.
I appreciate all the metric subtitles/conversions
Your camera work is absolutely incredible man, way to hustle out of the frame. I feel like I can really see the flight of the disc and the perspective you give is much appreciated!!
I see why Eagle loves this disc. I was throwing the Instinct for the longest time and didn't want to change. But got it one day, instantly fell in love with it. I ordered mine this morning. I hear its much straighter, and the way you're throwing it looks like its $$$$$
So stoked for Casey! That dude is on the come up. He's a perfect bridge between us amateurs and the huge arms. Glad I won't have to draw my own stamp on this one :)
Just ordered the teal rim, thanks for the recommendation!
I might draw a picture of Casey on mine…
@@broderic lol OK great call! I'm drawing an FC logo on it too then!
@ilikesnow Casey lost his shit at a tournament at Tom brown in Tally Fl and told some of the crowd to shut the F up we are trying to play.... I normally wouldn't care but there were kids around and he blew his top lost respect for him, he's a douche bag
Keep up the insights for Ams like us❤
I appreciate the metric numbers. Thanks for the good video :)
Nice video. It would be helpful if you could add a graphic which shows the distance of the throws in addition to the flight path.
I still bag a teebird. I find that personally the fd1 fills more of that Innova Eagle type mold. Like how the old 3 tool FD2 had that fd bottom rounded bottom, but super flat top (seemed like an eagle l) and was nice and slightly overstable with little glide. Best part is the fd1 is a nice out the box flyer and dont have to beat it up like eagles. Ordered myself a teal rim skywalker! Great video!
I think in a couple years it’ll be a really good goto in the bag. The flight tells everything when it’s brand new.
I am an Instinct guy and I love it. Discmania sent me an early release of the Skywalker. It's great but more stable although less than the c-line FD1. To me fills a niche but still Instinct is primary. I also like the Teebird 3 but it's just a different disc.
I think these are really handy discs to have. I bag a TSA Votum but same concept.
Nice video as usual. How would you compare it to an Instinct or a retooled FD2? Cheers from France!
I would say it’s more stable than an instinct with not as much glide. Compared to the retooled FD2 I’m not sure… there were a few retooled ones and I only threw one type… but I would say this definitely has more glide than the one I threw, but more stability and torque resistance on forehand
I would call the flight numbers of the C line FD1 more a 7 4 0 3. Basically a slower FD3. But if the Skywalker has more glide and an actual 2 fade then that would be perfect.
Nice review. Looks like a sweet disc, but I am not sure it will kick out my Volt at this point.
Looks like somebody got a new camera… the shot starting at 2:50 looks super hd, looks great
With AB Color Glow Teebird3s being so hard to find and limited this could be my replacement! Needing that fairway/control driver that I can count on not to turn over but still glide and not fade so hard it tends to skip.
Yeah the Teal/Red one I got was very nice!
Very nice review. I can 100% relate to those "flex" lines. xD
Is this the same plastic as Latitude Royal Grand or is this completely different? I think the Horizon DD1 was very similar to Grace also in terms of plastic.
I believe Tomas said that they are all different blends of plastic. But I would say this feels similar for sure! Both feel great!
This looks great. I think this is what I use Eagles and Votums for but also, IMO, you can't have enough stable 7 speed discs. Lol.
such a good review, i've had the same issue with the FD1 in the past, I think I need one of these, i'd love to have seen a comparison to the Show Stopper.
I haven't had a chance to throw the show Stopper yet!
oohhhh come on David, what's going on? JK, Dude, seriously it's pretty amazing, i have the lighter cream colored disc, flips up and pushes hard forward@@ApolloDiscGolf
How does it compare to the Westside Bear? Ive really been enjoying that for my workable fairway cause I found the stag to be just a little understable for full power throws
I would say this is a little more stable than a Bear! I found that the bear would turn a little bit for me in wind, when this is pretty dependable in wind!
Id love for this disc to be like the Royal Rage FD2. I got rid of all mine when people started offering me sickening amounts of money for them and I was on a DG hiatus..... I screwed up.
Not a huge Casey fan, but I'll pick this up anyway. He's kinda the poor man's pro and I like that. Support the kid, he's living his dream!
How would you compare it to something like the Bear?
I would say it's more overstable than a Bear? The Bear usually turned for me in some headwinds when I don't think this will
I have been using the c line fd1 like an eagle. Thinking this may be more like a tee bird.
Also I heard this is like a 3rd tool fd2.
How does this disc compare to the Vanguard?
I would say it's a bit slower and more stable, definitely more reliable in winds
Going to get one or ten to support Casey White! Seems like a great guy.
How would you compare this to a Votum?
This is going to be more stable than a Votum and will handle more power and fight more winds. But the finish on the FD1 is not as forward pushing as the Votum either!
@@ApolloDiscGolf so they could potentially live together harmoniously in the same bag?
How would you compare this to the forged instinct or the royal rage 2
I haven't thrown a Royal Rage 2, but I would say that this is a touch more stable than the Forge one!
@ApolloDiscGolf kind of what I thought a touch straiter with maybe a touch more fade! I love my forged instinct!!!
For slower arms like myself, instinct is really nice
Yeah, I wondered why they needed this mold at all with the Instinct already being very good 🤷♂🤷♂
I would think this is a little more reliable than an Instinct... But I haven't had a ton of time with the Instinct!
@@ApolloDiscGolf The Neo instinct has been my OS fairway since January. Idk if it’s the hard, dense plastic, but for a while it was hard for me to get a lot of glide out of it. Very dependable fade though.
Also, admittedly I bought the Instinct because it’s supposed to be an FD2, which by all accounts I found it’s the “three-tooled” mold
The forge instinct definitely has that added stability, but I don’t think it dumps as hard as the FD 1 when it slows down.
Fwiw, neo Instinct is very close to a c line FD while the tour series is more OS. Still would have liked to see it in the comparison.
Must be hard for discmania when they already have the instinct. They needed the FD1 to be different but still wanted a great feeling and flying disc.
it was tough for me. I love the Instinct, but can see why pro's love this one. It's very workable if you have an arm like Eagle.
C line Originals fd is what you need.
The C-Line FD always gave me a little bit of turn! I like how these don't really turn at all, but still push forward for you!
if you want a straighter and more glidey FD1 then why not simply use an FD ??
🤷
The FD doesn't have the dependability this has. The FD will turn for you without wind, when this will give you distance down the fairway while not turning even with power or wind. It gives you consistency and dependability when you can't go right
How has Lucas Art not asked Discmania to change the name of that disc, Skywalker is Trademarked.
Maybe because it’s Sky Walker, two words… technicalities 🤷🏻♂️
Or because disc golf is so small they don’t even know?
I was wondering the same thing, kind of a risky name.
My TB3 TURNS, after 1000 trees
To me it seems like the FD1 is closer to my eagles then my tee birds
bro is that shawnee mission park?? if you ever want another person to throw with for your reviews give me a shout I am an admin for the discmanina collector page and be happy to help
It is Shawnee Mission! I usually go out there to film because 7-9 are really nice to be able to see a flight of a disc and get to know what they can do!
I have a white FD1 in cline and it no where a near as stable as your purple one. That's a hog, what the heck
