I've watched 3 of your demo vids now and every one was a joy to sit through .I never get to end of these type of vids but I did with all of yours.Quick, efficient and without any waffle.
That tweaker has enough tone stack options to likely get close to the rest. The dirt on display here would probably sound the best in a mix with all those rich mids.
I used to chase the Marshall sound but now I’d say: Egnater, Fender (surprises me too), Orange (was never a fan until this), Marshall, and Blackstar (which I usually love but sounded very thin). Outstanding shootout!
I just have to tell you that I love the songs that you choose to play(especially thrice). It really gives me an idea of what the amp will sound like when I play. Please keep the videos coming! 👍👍
Useful impressions, thanks. I had my sights set on a Laney IRT Studio to replace mit HT5 (good for full-tilt grind only), but now I'll be checking out the Fender and the Egnater heads as well.
No matter what amp sounds best, the video is great, and really helpful. Nice easy riffs which show the pros and cons of the amps. Thanks. BTW Marshall is the most unique sound. I like it best.
Marshall sounds very meaty and lots of Mid range, but not a lot of character. Fender has barely any kids, but a very treble like character. Pair the two together and you’d get an awesome guitar tone as they fill in the gaps of what each amp is missing.
Fender is the winner! By far. That clean tone was beautiful. I've never really looked into Egnator but that sounded really good too. Did not like the Blackstar one bit.
I'm a fan of the mid-scooped-y-ness of the Blackstar, gets rid of the mush when playing dirty. The Fender was very nice clean, very chimey goodness. Nice vid dude!!!
Nice thrice riffs. I prefer the Fender, there were tones coming through the other amps weren't providing. In fact I'm preferring fender more and more even though I love vox and Marshall as well.
I love my Blackstar HT5R stack but looking to get a Bassbreaker head soon. I find the bassbreaker has a much thicker tone witch is what I'm looking for.
To my ears, Fender sounds worse than all the amplifiers presented in this video. There is no guitar sound, I can assume that it is built on 6V6. Orange and Marshall have the most guitar sound. But I liked the orange ones the most. After all, EL84 is the hottest and has good and dense midrange frequencies. And there are no intrusive and mumbling low frequencies like Fender.
for everyone hating on the little Marshall, this is actually the least succesful recreation of the 1 watt series. The Jtm and the jcm are absolute gems. But what Fender achieved for half the price is amazing with that bassbreaker 007 amp!
Cooomme whaaat maaaay I won't abandon You or leave you behind because love Is a loyalty sworn, not a burning For a moment! DUDE you are a Thrice fan on top of all of this? My hero
I d say Marshall n1, Fender n2, Orange n3, Blackstar and Egner "à la ramasse" like we say in France. Marshall is more colorated, less neutral than Fender, so it's a bit subjective.
I've tried various 6v6, 6L6, el34 & 12ax7 12au7 modern and NOS, I found my vintage GT el34s best, paired with Mullard 12ax7s. NOS USA 6L6s 2nd. 6550s are next on my list. I run a Empress Para eq in the effects loop sounds like a top of the line amp. highly suggest trying para eq.
What tone mode was the Tweaker 15 set at? The Egnater Tweaker has three tone stacks, USA (Fender), AC (Vox AC 30) and Brit (Marshall 1959 ). With that, the tweaker is more versatile, as you can tweak the tone in so many ways.
The tone stack seems to just tilt the EQ curve in the preamp. I believe it's on AC which is the most natural of the three, as USA boosts the highs and Brit boosts the mids. I've done a video on the Egnater where I flip between the settings.
@@lancel3933 Yep, definitely true, I used to own a Renegade, the best clean sound I've gotten out of an amp so far...if only it was reliable too. But I've heard that they've solved the problem....just rumors.
I'm on my 3RD Egnater Vengeance and love the amp BUT they just don't last. My pots constantly go out no matter how often I clean them. Then eventually something inside goes out and it's time for a replacement. I think I'm done after this one. My BB15 is rock solid and it's my go to amp now. Plugged it into my Egnater 2X12 cab and it sounds amazing. I just need two of them now with a foot switch. lol.
Fender Bassbreaker for me, followed by the Tweaker. Kind of strange... In your demo Bassbreaker vs Tweaker I strongly prefered the tweaker... Were the cabs the same ? Anyway, thank you for the fine and useful demo.
The Blackstar is a sweet combo for a simple valve amp. Throw a Celestion 8 In there and some Sovtek tubes (inexpensive ) and it rocks! $175 invested and it sounds like my Tiny Terror, sort of. Still a little boxy sounding with the closed back but the size of a lunch box so its portability makes up for it. Or run a cab with it. Sweet comparison! Thanks
I have a Tiny Terror and Tweaker (and Marshall 15C - but that is a whole nother useless, 'what were they thinkin?!' story!). Both are fantastic in their own way. The TT is kinda a one-trick pony sound, but it does that trick SO well... like nobody else!!! It's a one-of-a-kind sound. There is no substitute. But, the Tweaker is so damn good at doing so many damn good sounds. Kind of hard to go wrong with it. It can do everything pretty darn well. At least WAY better than my skills!! And, can take ANY octal base power tube - from 6V6,6L6, EL34, KTXX, 8551, more. It's designed to. The Marshall sounded most organic in the above, maybe my fave. The Fender and Blackstar, meh... Fender feels like it's trying but is actually a wanna be. And the Blackstar doesn't seem like it's even trying.
why did you not use a 5w Marshall and blackstar. also the tiny terror and egnator why didn't you use them on 7 watt then you would be pushing them harder and it would be a more even demo.
+TC GuitarGear It's so weird. I've already taken one back because of it and the second seems to have the same issue. It sounds like this is something I'll have to get used to with this amp.
+dcshred2 Mine does the same hum, i think is related to the cab, cause if i put my hand on the back of the cab it stops, and if i remove the bottom cover of the cab the hum starts immediately, but also i never noticed that hum with other amps on the same cab (007 is the only amp i have at the moment so i cant test with others.
This amp, Egnater tweaker, have a issue with the Transformers I heard that they are giving the Transformers free ,but when I call then they refuse to send me one new and refuse to pay a reissue here in my country, Brazil.
half you kids that say a clear winner either own the amp you want the winner or want to buy the amp of choice. truth is...besides the midrange tone (whether punchy or scooped)....these amps a very similar.
I think they sound good clean but they all sound even smaller than they are saturated. And that's a disappointment. I thought at least the Orange would sound good.
The Egnater Tweaker does not belong in the same category as the rest of these simple one trick ponies. You can't compare an amp with all the features of the Egnater against a group of amps that have simple volume/gain/tone. I own this amp and love it, admittedly it does not sound great in this demo. I'm not saying I dislike the other amps, most of them sound quite good especially the Fender, but with tweaking the Egnater can do all these and more.

Agostinho Fernandes I've done another video of the Bassbreaker through a V30 loaded cab and I really like the tone. Try turning Bass completely off, mids all the way up, treble at half-way then treble boost in with gain to taste.
All these heads were played through a cab except the Blackstar and that that sounded muffled and bassy. Not really an even comparison with the HT-1R. You should have eliminated the combo amp or did the demo the the HT-1RH and then it would have been a proper comparison.
Orange cab with a G12H30. If i had the 20 / 5 Watt Blackstar it would of been a better test, as to be fair the HT-1 wasn't really comparable to the others 👍
@@TobysGuitarGearDemos That's a pretty bright cab. The reason I asked is this is the only video I've seen out of 20 that the HT-1R/H sounds muddy and dark. This video is completely different than the others.

Great job on this comparison... Really give us an immediate comparison can be heard.. Much appreciated.
I can't get over how much I prefer Egnaters.
They all sounded great in their respective ways. Depending on the sound you’re wanting any of these could do the job.

This is beautifully done! Excellent comparison. It's incredible what those small amps can put out!
Gain: Fender, Orange, Marshall, Egnater, Blackstar. For cleans, they were all quite lovely - just different.
Thank you for this....

The Fender and the Orange the best.
Orange by a landslide. Best dirt by a long shot, and the cleans are nice and crisp too.

The fender Bassbreaker for me!

Really nice tones from all of them with some very unique sounds.
Orange and Egnater sound best to me. For straight up rock and punk sounds go for the orange. For more versatility pick the egnater.
The Fender Bassbreaker killed the others in the DISTORTION settings alone!! What planet am I on where Fender is making awesome high gain amps?
Really surprised. The Fender owned it. I'm a Marshall guy, and mine don't sound farty like that, but they're much bigger JCM's.
