My top 2 are Egnater (most flexible) and Orange TH30. Amazed at how narrow and muffled Marshall and Fender sound in comparison. EDIT: This is how all amps should be demoed.
I agree the Engager was the most versatile and I thought was the best in most categories and Orange TH30 was the best in the other. The only area the others competed was in the Clean tones.
I agree too. In fact, all the Orange amps sounded really good to me. I like the Tweaker a lot as well. The Fender was easily the worst sounding. It didn't outdo any of the others in any category imo.
This is genuinely the best amp shoot out ever. No talking raw audio samples from all in different styles. With back to back comparisons of the same thing. 10/10 keep up the great work.
And each clip shown pretty close to the next and not minutes of different things before switching to the next amp so you've forgotten what the first one sounded like when you get to the next.

That Egnater amp seemed to have the most response to tone when adjusting those knobs. It just seemed to bring out a wide variety of sound that, well, sounder well rounded and nice.

Got the tweaker a few months ago and let me tell ya: This thing isn't to be taken lightly. You get so many options soundwise with its toogle switches, it's amazing. It's a great pedal platform and if you like to play a lot of different music it's a really good choice. Don't get fooled by some forums on the web saying bad stuff about their reliability. Ive been looking at the rebel line...really want the tube mix knob for some reason lol ...honestly i think the cleans sounded the same across the board and the marshall is on the bottom of my list
@@cncnmore4505 Rebel's great, too! If you already have a good sounding clean amp, maybe try out their pedals. They got a similar function called "voicing", tweakable with a knob. I got the Goldsmith as my main OD and it basically threw off all the over drive-pedals of my board xD
This was a hell of a good job at showing how every single amp has a "voice", and it will fit a specific category really well and can still do solid work "across the board". While politely pointing out, that it may not be exactly what someone is looking for. I was completely caught off guard by the Egnater T15 and the Orange TH30 - Especially the price point of the Egnater!
I’m loving the Egnater and the Dark Terror. Loved going over Bruce’s house in Oak Park Mi in the 90s when he built my IE-4 (red face & red box) in his basement. Those were the early Egnater days. Miss them
Surprised at the Dark Terror for overall great sound but it seems a bit limited kinda as well, Egnater is probably best overall flexibility and the one I would actually buy first. Disappointed by the bassbreaker the most. The rest were all ok but that's it just ok. Marshall and Fender though were the absolute worst.
The TH30 sounds awesome. One of my favorite amps ever. Was quite surprised on the cleans on the Dark Terror. I've been thinking about picking one up to pair with my TH30.
I think the Dark Terror is the best considering the Quality-Price-Ratio. The TH30 is my favourite but it's a lot expensive :c Marshall and Fender disappointed me :/
Jonny Miller I love both of them (DT and TH30), but in a live setting the prize difference becomes apparent. The additional headroom from the TH30 makes the amps feel like night and day
the Marshall JVM-1 and the Orange TH30 were my favorites. I was really shocked and disappointed in the fender. the rest were very good and held up nicely. good video
Wow. This demo is perfect. I came here for the sound of the cab rather than the amps. I can hear every little feature accentuated in each amp by the cab. Good production and fantastic layout for this video. Thanks very much, you've got a new subscriber!
I own a TH30 it's the best amp I've ever owned. The vibe and bounce of this amp is indescribable, you have to play through one to know. I own Marshall, Mesa, Fender, Egnater and Peavey. When I first saw an Orange amp I thought "thats the ugliest thing I've ever seen" and didn't bother to even hear what it sounded like but, I saw Jimmy Page in a video using them and I thought I should give 'em a try. changed my life.
Very good comparison video. Really showed me the weakness of some, and the broad range of others. IMO: 1st-Tweaker, 2nd-Orange TH30, 3rd Orange Dark Terror.
I like the TH30 the best but I’m jaded being I own one. Did a lot of testing of amps before I purchased it. Beauty of it is it’s a 2 channel that can be run at 30, 15 or 7.5 watts. During this test it was running at 30 watts with the volume always around 2. This amp sounds best cranked . Especially the clean. Turn the clean channel up to about 2 OClock and it starts breaking up nice. Gotta run the th 30 volume cranked regardless of watt wattage you use and you’ll get the best tones out of it. Again, I’m jaded. I play a Les Paul and an SG straight without any effects. Amp has an effects loop too. Great video.
hats off for the effort, great job. on the other hand, since orange cab is used, all orange amps sounded best to me in terms of dynamics and the fullness of all frequencies especially hi ends were brilliant to my taste. i believe in the dominancy of speakers shaping the general sound, more than the amps. therefore, i would also like to hear the same kind of test with each brand's their own cabs intended to be used for their own vision of sound. we know evh is harsh and marshall will be mid accentuated etc. but one type of speaker wouldn't do justice to non orange amps to spread their frequency spectrum as their makers would like to impose.
My favorite in all sound clips was the th30... If if you have the money. But best bang for the buck is also my runner up, the tweeker. Versatility, tone, and price! It's the clear winner to me!
Dark Terror and TH 30 great cleans! I am also a big fan of orange's minimalistic approach. Really considering buying one, but since I need two channels I'm looking at the dual terror or rocker 15 terror. Egnater Tweaker also good.
I'm generally a Marshall fan, I actually liked it "the least" I think the TH30 sounds the best, close second on every other amp but the Marshall I'd rank 3'rd
TH30 sounded the best and most adjustable in tone to my ears. Although I wonder if this was helped by playing through your Orange speaker cab, which I assume are purpose built for this unit. Well done for sharing this with us, superb demo. I wonder how they compare in price? I’ve got a humble Boss Katana 50 and I think they are superb amps for the money, but I would like to get a small valve amp one day. I love Mesa Boogie amps for their cleans.
That fender amp would be great in the studio as a background layer. If you needed to prop up a wheel-less car, the fender would work well for that too. The Orange, as usual, has the best clean tones.
What a great demo. I’m surprised how much I liked the Tweaker. Never been on my radar after the slew of reviews I saw about how unreliable they were. Not going to replace my OR15, but might be a nice compliment.
trahnettilhcs it had to do with their transformers. When I was buying my valve amp years back, I shopped around all of my local music stores. I tried every amp within my budget. Most of them lacked either a good clean tone or a good dirty tone. None had both... until I tried the TH30. I tried the dirty channel and I was very pleased with how much gain it had to offer. But then I switched to the clean channel.... the clean channel sold me. It was soo sparkly and rich (compared to previous amps I had tested). I knew that a good clean was more important for me, the good dirty channel was a lovely bonus. Also variable power selections allowed for a more sensible bedroom volume (still really loud). The TH30 is simple to use. It does not have 100 knobs and switched. You simply plug in and enjoy without over complicating things for yourself. Also it has a great effects loop and this is great for a pedal board 👌👌
I've had heaps of amps and the tweaker was worst I ever owned. Maybe it had something wrong with it as it was second hand. But guy who bought it if me liked it.
@@joshmuz9018 could be the tubes, I have an orange and a tweaker head and I haven't looked for any other head. The tweaker 88 sounded so good in the studio.
Kind of an unfair fight having the TH30 in this comparison, but I really did like that one. The Egnater really covered the most ground for me out of the other 5 amps.
i got an orange TH100 and despite what anyone says the clean tone is awesome and vibrant. An EQ really helpss fine tune the freqs especially or pedal use
I'm gonna go in no particular order Th30 EVH Tweaker Dark They all sound great and have that midrange thing that good amps have while still being supported with the low end
I've had both the Egnater and TH30 and both are pretty awesome. However, I don't think it was fare to put the TH30 since it has a lot more power to it. Even if you use half the wattage it will still respond different compared to the others, which is why it has more bass and the distortion is a lot cleaner. Taking the TH30 out, my favourite is the Egnater, although it could still use a bit more distortion ;)

All of the Oranges sounded great, but especially the TH30. The 5150III sounded really good too
For modern gain, my preference is the Orange Dark Terror. For clean tone, I prefer the Egnator Tweaker 15 (surprisingly, better than Fender.).
Kind of ridiculous that the Tweaker smoked em all in every category. Amazing.
The Egnater sounds the most throaty and hi-fi. Easily the best.
MONOVISION yessss
Dark terror (balanced on all Terms) it's My choice, but egnater (feeling) and evh (chords, riffs) it's pure gold too
How about PRS, Laney, ENGL, bogner and buguera ??
I'm gonna go in no particular order
Th30
EVH
Tweaker
Dark
They all sound great and have that midrange thing that good amps have while still being supported with the low end
+1
