I have been uplifted and inspired by Oregon’s music for almost 50 years. One of the most musically brilliant and elegant bands ever!🙏❤️🎶❤️🙏
I've loved Oregon for many years. This album is the original group and they are the best.
My brother and I would play Oregon for hours....the American ECM groove...
Their music is timeless and is "music from another present era".
Ralph is just such a complete badass...playing great piano a la Herbie and beautiful trumpet, along with absolute guitar mastery.
40 or so years later and their music still delights and astounds. They were at another level , few others have achieved. Just remarkable from start to finish and wow do I miss hearing them live.
Brilliant brilliant brilliant ! Oregon is a musical banquet ! Thank you for sharing !
Thank you! Been listening since 1970, year of their forming; I was 17. Still miss Collin.
This was released on CD and its recordered fantastic and shows how great and inspired they were in their heyday
Towner is great on the trumpet (c. 40min)
Thank you for sharing.
Saw this guys many times live, but I must say LIVE AT THE PALACE in Hollywood was so intimate. Amazing.
Wonderful. In addition to the virtuosity of this quartet, which can still be admired today, the quality of this recording captivates.
Crystal clear, my friend. Salutations to German sound engineers!
@@alejandrosolano7421 One of the greatest improv meets world music ever! I tooo saw them may times often at Fat Tuesdays so close i poured drinks for Ralph!
This is a great contribution, thank you. I treasure my copy of the double LP 'Oregon - In Performance'. Live at New York and Montreal, if I'm not mistaken (I'd have to verify, but the current quarantine has set me apart from my record collection and I cannot go over the delightful liner notes at the moment). Oregon has always been dear to my heart. Long live the memory of Mr. Walcott.
This band was a trip to see live.
Cheers, mate. Did you get to see them with Walcott back in the day?
@@alejandrosolano7421 Yes ! it was 7/26/1980 Boulder ,Co.
@@Bobby007D What a cool night that one must have been! Greetings from Valledupar, Caribbean Colombia.
Braaavooo!!!... Seleta rara e extraordinária, essa! Oregon:10 cum laudae!
Parabéns!!!...
Particularly Excellent Radio Mix. I’ve come to appreciate the true artistry required to broadcast an acoustic (analog) ensemble. Keep in mind folks that each one of these musicians is playing Into A Mic, (or 3) which is then maybe compressed or run through a digital delay or something , then sent up to the broadcast facility (all done digitally now, but in 1980 I don’t think so). Then broadcast and recorded somehow and archived FOR 43 YEARS. THEN re-Digitized for YT’s algorithm and then WiFi’ed to your lovely ears for your listening enjoyment! Kind of amazing when you think about it all. And you can still hear the sound of the Bass Bow scratching across the Bass Viol strings.
Superb musicians, but appreciated by so few.
Love this music!
Excelent,
Though a long time fan of Oregon, I am hearing this album for the first time. I think the original Colin Walcott line-up was their best. Though an unapologetic fan of jazz and music from Brazil, if I were pressed to assign a label to this, it might be modern 'chamber music'.
40 years in Japan now ... and with literally thousands of mostly jazz and Brazilian CDs in my collection, Oregon's 'Out of the Woods' is my go-to soundtrack when driving through the misty mountains west of Tokyo.
Much love and thanks for posting this album.
At 40 minutes in, it sounds like someone is playing the trumpet or brass instrument. I guess that is Towner - amazing!
That WOULD be Mr. Ralph Towner!
@@jerryvivanco4352 Probably Cornet, right?
Oregon in Performance
Rest is history Iam means now!
It's great! Thanks a lot!! From BRAZIL!!!
beautiful wow 🙏
There is also a trumpet at 40:00 ff. Played by ... ?
Ralph Towner
who plays the violin?
They could play anything except boring derivative music.
