I lived in Clarke Street until I was 4/5 years old in these back to back houses....we then moved to the maisonettes at the bottom of St Vincent Drive/road...I have vague memories of this house and the court yards 😀 God bless my parents x
Tolkien never lived in Ladywood, he lived in Sarehole which was in Worcestershire then but is now called Hall Green in Birmingham where Sarehole Mill and the Moseley bog is. The only connection with Ladywood Tolkien had was in his book the two towers he included two tall towers in Lady Wood, the Severn Trent Water Works Tower and Perrots Folly.

My Gran and her Sister`s lived in Ladywood in the 1920`s and 30`s and had to draw water from a standpipe in their backyard.
I lived on Shakespeare road in the sixties and went to stuart school
Grew up there in the 50.s..was great then..shithole now
