    Fantastic video, you provide all the information I like to have when making a decision about whether to go on a hike or not. Thank you. We also share a love for the Rae lake basin, I have accessed this area from Kings canyon, Sequoia, and Onion Valley on the Eastern side all three entrances provide different experiences with the same payoff in the middle.

      @@HikeOregon I'll bet it is a little worrisome seeing steam rising from an active volcano. Especially after the devastation the last major eruption caused.

    Gorgeous hikes. You've inspired me to hike more this year. The Sierras have the most beautiful scenery you've ever seen, and you've hiked in the Alps? Wow that is saying something. The most beautiful place I've ever been to are the national parks in the Canadian Rockies; I wonder how the hiking there would compare...you'd have to deal with grizzlies though.

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  4 роки тому

      I’ve hiked in Alaska, so grizzlies don’t scare me that much. You just have to be prepared. I would not to hike in the Canadian Rockies. Sounds epic!!!!!! And yes, the Sierra Nevada are much more epic than the alps in my opinion.

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  4 роки тому

      It’s awesome! If you research it online you won’t find the loop that goes around the whole mountain, you’ll find a 20-something mile loop that just takes you along the East side of the peak. Just use the topo make and connect the trails yourself. The west side doesn’t receive a lot of maintenance so there are trees down from the wind storm in September but the lakes and solitude there are incredible.

    Hi
    First I’d say that I just love your Videos. .
    I have just a quick question for you since you are familiar with OR, WA area.
    I am looking for a 25-35 miles loop trail for myself and my 13 years old son, we are both in great shape and can easily hike more than 12 miles per day
    I was looking at:
    Timberline Trail Around Mount Hood
    Broken Top Loop Trail
    Do you have any other recommendations?

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  3 роки тому +1

      The Timberline Loop is tough, lots of elevation gain and loss and it is right around 40 miles. Broken Top loop is great and there are lots of different options if you want to make it longer. Enjoy.

While my brand is called Hike Oregon because my website is an Oregon hiking resource, even there I have some southern WA hikes and will have some northern CA hike write ups and info as well. Its because of you and videos like this, that Oregon is getting so trashed. Stop trying to make money off our great outdoors and keep these places to yourself. If people want to find nice places to go, let them do the work.

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  4 роки тому +4

      This is just giving people ideas on where to go. They’ll still have to do research on the hikes either in hiking guide books, maps or on websites. Trust me, the time it takes to make a video like this is not worth the pennies I make off of it. I most definitely don’t do it for the money.

    • @BackcountryPilgrim
      @BackcountryPilgrim 4 роки тому +5

      I understand and can sympathize with the motivation behind this comment, but I think it fails to be consistent with reality. It is rare to just stumble upon a good hiking location, and to "do the work" we all look to books, guides, apps, maps, etc. and generally speaking SOMEONE is making money off of those sources.
      The internet makes it easier to find locales but that's just the way it is. Be it UA-cam, blogs, webpages, etc. the information is out there now.
      Further, I don't think the people who seek out hikes on channels like this are the types to trash a place - especially not if they pay attention to HO's videos. I think maybe you just want these places all to yourself (which I get!) but as I have to remind myself, it's pretty selfish to limit trails only after you've discovered them. ;)

      I hear you but this isn't like someone disclosing a secret fishing spot or an off trail route to an unpublished cove, these are all known spots that are just grouped here. Might as well write an angry letter to William Sullivan while you are at it

    • @jakeoswald8017
      @jakeoswald8017 3 роки тому

      This is ridiculous, these hikes are meant to be available to the public. People going out of their way to look for hikes like this are people who are going to cherish the trails they’re on. Plus “Oregon is getting so trashed” where?
