You have to have musical knowledge to make music using samples. It may seem "easy", but it's not. Know which samples are good ones and rearranging them to a good tune is no less harder than playing any instrument. Besides, they make their solos and vocals, which in my opinion is usually damn impressive.
Being musical is more important than "having musical knowledge". Not insulting a music education or what it offers! But some amazing musicians are absolutely self-trained.
I've shown my friend this video and he was like " now any body could be daft punk.". Nit at all. I'm think about it. Yeah this guy recreated the song, but he had a refrence to go about it. Imagine how TB and GM did it? They had to have heard the original and go like, "this part totally matches up with this little part that went before it."
Thanks for sharing this, it's amazing how this works, I'm 38 yrs of age and love all music, just lately I've been thinking about learning how to play something, I've always love the sound of the synthesiser, keyboards and all that, when I've tried to look how daft punk make music they seem very secretive about how it's done, would love a suggestion of how to get some equipment or what I'd need as a complete beginner, your never too old to learn
First you need a central piece of software to produce electronic music. This is known as a digital audio workstation, or "DAW". These often come equipped with lots of samples (clips of audio), virtual instruments, and audio effects. There are many out there. Perhaps some of the most popular are Ableton Live 9, Logic Pro, Fruity Loops, and Cubase. Disclaimer: I have Ableton Live 9. Private message me and I can help you with Ableton Live 9. What you're watching above is someone making music in a Ableton Live 6. You can totally only use the DAW and it's included samples, virtual instruments, and audio effects, but many people buy more synthesizers, audio effects, and samples and add them to their DAW. Additionally, people often buy keyboards or tablets with buttons and knobs to make the process of making electronic music more intuitive and tangible, but they aren't necessary. These are called MIDI keyboards or controllers because they communicate with the DAW through a representation of sound known as MIDI.
***** I'll Google it and price it up, the only real musical thing I did was back in the 90's when I mixes vinyl, lol But I've always fancied creating something, maybe this could be the way, thanks for the reply
You may think that recreating is easy, but the reality is that if the creator had the vision to "recreate" his own works and turn them into No. 1 and Awards, he would have done it. However, his creation went unnoticed in his day. Maximum respect for the creators without a doubt, but "recreating" and having the vision of a new form and "creation" from an existing one, is also creating. Or if you prefer, it is "recreating" what the creators do not "create".
great video to be honest, i do think there are similarities between daft sampling and hip hop sampling, it just depends on what producer you are listening to
Excellent. I mean that the technology is available, then what remains is to have good vibes and seek inspiration, just think this is the hardest part, and that is where you need the inner artist
this video is great.. I really didnt knew how samples were used. But I have a question do daf punk do their song only with samples? dont they have musical knowledge? They just overdub with the vocoder right??
bellissimo video, complimenti davvero! :) io non ho mai imparato ad usare Live, preferisco usare un campionatore hardware, ammiro molto chi sa usare bene gli stumenti software!
@miroperkele2 I think a DJ is a kind of artist though. A musician arranges notes, a DJ arranges samples. Maybe a DJ is a watered down musician but I guess it depends on the skill.
@escuadron401 Yes, it's that easy. When I took my kid to school this morning I left my laptop on to make me some music. I expect to have about five hit songs once I return back.
Good video! For the critics of sampling: imagine a guy saying "I play piano very well, "Imagine" is so easy, anybody could be John Lennon" what do you think about that guy? I think the same about you
I did this with Cola Bottle Baby, and I mixed the voices, and you know what I heard? I heard a robot voice (not the same as HBFS), saying, "Work it, make it, do it, makes us" oFTo
sampling is harder to create anything worth listening to as you're limited to manipulating only one sound. modern producers who shy away from samples have so much more options to create sound, and their creations often can't hold a candle to anything that daft punk has masterfully produced
LMFAO. TB and GM are famouse cause "they revolutionized with their creativity" electronic music... But now that im watching this videos of all the samples they use. I only admired their audio engineer habilitys nothing else.
I think it's not easy to recreate either. You need to know the software really well and all the technichal stuff, you need to have imagination on how to combine different elements to result into the final sound. You only hear the final work at daft punk, your brain must process it into layers. I think this is an art also, also let's not forget your hearing must be perfect, otherwise you can just go home.
@32JSE in around the world they used their older songs as the basis well not theirs but guy manuels older stuff. they based it on "holiday on ice"

Anyone watching this after the end of Daft punk?
Dang I was 7 when this was uploaded, btw I love that song the most out of all of them. Brings so much childhood memories
I was 1 when this was uploaded... 😳
@@GalaxyDeem i was 3

No problem, also you can get a free 30-day demo of Ableton Live 9 online.
You did a great job, awesome sampling!
Thank you so much for making this, I'm just after doing everything that you did in the video. Can't believe how easy it is! But so, so cool.
it s not easy
to author: nice job
to trolls: like always re-creating is lil bit easier...

Good demonstration. Ableton really seems to be the tool for the creation from samples.
@Ibonnaz: glad you enjoyed, many thanks for the advice!
@silveryflow
it's abelton live 6
great video
to be honest, i do think there are similarities between daft sampling and hip hop sampling, it just depends on what producer you are listening to
i will listen to it as soon as possible, thanks
Excellent. I mean that the technology is available, then what remains is to have good vibes and seek inspiration, just think this is the hardest part, and that is where you need the inner artist
i know, i only wanted to show their work on the samples. you may have noticed that also the vocals are missing. :)
To mention, I don't think any DAWs like Ableton or FL Studio were around or at least not popular enough to be used by them.
Anyone watching this in 2019?
Yes
2020
@@j0rd4 u mean 2019 2?
@deeperndeep coould you be kind to explain me the diference? on those 2 modes plz?. thanks in advance
@UnicornPow3r Usually daft punk add their own drums, some synths and bass to the songs. And slice the samples.
@deeperndeep What is the program used in movies? this program is seems to be optimized for sampling.
ciao
grazie per il video

Hey bro nice vid what did you press too make all the compiled clips into one clip there around 04:14 ?
this video is great.. I really didnt knew how samples were used. But I have a question do daf punk do their song only with samples? dont they have musical knowledge? They just overdub with the vocoder right??
you gotta use complex pro warping for sampling. Using "beats" is making the entire thing stutter in this video.
GeoAl09 Nice troll, 4 years later.
what did you do when you warped it on the bottom right thing over there idk wut that does...
bellissimo video, complimenti davvero!
:)

Sampler link for download please

how do you copy that little loop you marked in a new tracK?
Absolutely awsome
slow down the tempo and test the different warp modes, set tempo to 40 o 60 bpm and this clarify your vision of the warp modes
i don't understand what you did at 1:12, at the bottom with the warp markers. can you explain it?
What is the program used in movies? this program is seems to be optimized for sampling.
Wow. This is really neat. Great job :D
I was 1 when this was uploaded. 😳
How are you highlighting sections? I can only do that in Audacity.
Wich song is it? please somebody help me!
Dope
@ColdConceptOfficial right
click on all the selected clips and look for "consolidate" :D
mother of god, this is amazing
y u no update bro :o)

I use Texture usually because Complex crashes my Ableton.
OF COURSE! Why didn't I think of this! All I have to do to make a hit dance single is cut up an older one! My god it's genius and yet... So simple!
@holzy4565 I moved the marker at the start of the beat, in order to include the kick drum on the sample
amazing
muy buena mezclada mi amigo saludos desde mexico y bien por ti que te gusta daft punk. xD.
live 6 and windows? respect brah!
give a look at ableton lessons (? menu, table of lessons), they're really useful to have a start at it.
Which program is that? Who can tell me so I download it?
Ableton, you can get it from www.ableton.com
Genius.
Really really good!!
this was really nice
@SamberSamkor you're right man, but at that time i still didn't know the difference =)
Read the description maybe?
I love your videos
what did you use to record your desktop with audio?
C'est un peu comme dévoiler un tour de magie. Vous ne trouvez pas ? :)
I feel like someone told me the most secret of magic tricks. Don't you?
how to make one more time in just under 6 minuites. i luv it lol. and im a big fan of daft punk
are you on 8.3 yet?
grande allora io ammiro te, non ho mai avuto l'occasione di testare un campionatore autentico..!
The best part is how people say: "Wow, good job!" and they have no idea what you're doing...
That's a really pretentious thing to say...
Gilberto Dutra But true.
Awesome :D
Good Job man :)
Excellent!
amazing. If only you discovered it before them :p
The daft punk are human after all
muy bien (chingon) nice from the veracruz
I did this with Cola Bottle Baby, and I mixed the voices, and you know what I heard? I heard a robot voice (not the same as HBFS), saying, "Work it, make it, do it, makes us" oFTo
And they didn't have ablelton to do it...
awesome
if you need help again with this,
play this One M0:00re Time
fail, should have been One M 0:00 re Time
Thomas and Guy is that you?

Ableton my friend.
thanks :) !
OMG awesome
Ableton Live 6.
somebody can teach me use ableton live? u_u
nice good!!!!

U my friend are chuck norris
COmputer nice tune, make the happy daft pink, good Joy¬
it's easy to RECREATE...not to CREATE a song using samples...that's it
^
***** are you really saying daft punk has no creativity?
strangely, after you said that the sentence makes perfect sense to me now. Must have been in "hate on everything everyone" mode then.
I think it's not easy to recreate either. +bangerssearcher oh really? try recreate one album in a day, good luck finding the original samples
genious !
what is this program?
Leverquin Ableton Live 9 Suite
Respect
The magic
wtf awesome!!!!
and on top of that they did it that many years ago.
missed some filters... anyway nice chop :D
Ok il fatto del "Complex" ma non ho capito perché all'epoca non l'hai fatto della stessa tonalità? C'era la possibilità che UA-cam te lo censurasse?
nah, è solo che all'epoca ero un bambino e non sapevo cosa facevo haha
ctrl + j
thats so fucking cool bro!! thank you for this awesome tutorial
boh, non lo so perchè...
Please dude ! set this warp mode on "complex", it sounds horrible on "beats"
So now do it ten years later without MAO and just hardware
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! How is that possible!!
this is amazing, really xD
ma sei italiano?
