The fact that I suffered with an addition was so painful and made me cry and now that I’m clean for two years I love the fact that Melanie sees the problems that people deal with. She truly is a sweet person.
I don't take drugs but I relate a lot to the lyrics. I ruin my relationships because I'm terrified of everyone close to me hurting me so I lash out. And it's so addicting. It's not in my nature to have healthy balanced relationships. I'm just bound in my own toxic cycle of being dependent and lashing out when people get too close. It almost feels like an addiction
This song reminds me of an ex friend who was addicted to coke, it became abusive to my best friend, using them and love bombing him. When my best friend finally told me everything, we both cut contact with the friend because I couldn’t believe someone could ever hurt my best friend that way. My friend is now in a healthier relationship with his girlfriend for almost a year now, and both of us are much better off without them. I was the one the friend would call while ignoring my best friend, so I’d sit and listen to the friend break down and threaten to off themselves or do more Coke. This song feels like it was written from my perspective almost, nearly identical. If you or a loved one has a drug addiction, never hesitate to offer them help, but ultimately it is their choice to go to rehab. You can make it through
This song is one of my favourites it reminds me of someone who I loved and the person that I've been there for them and cared for a long time but they used that as advantage and kept hurting my feelings. i was hurt and confused and I kept telling myself self what was wrong with me .I kept trying to fit in with there friends but I felt isolated from them they acteded like 5 years old and they would always made me uncomfortable. But as I was listening to melanie martinez songs I understood myself and I blossomed like rose to a new person.im really grateful for your beautiful liycs and your work you you've done your liycs always makes me relax and sing along .thank you for your beautiful work and you deserve a good break and like wise man told the world can be tough but you are tougher .thank you so much for doing these liycs you have a heart of glod 🌟❤️🔥😊🌺🧚♀️🌹
Everytime I listen to this song. I'm reminded by that one lyric from Halsey's Bad At Love, where she said, "But she fell in love with little thin white lines"
This song reminds me of my mom she was addicted to drugs in my childhood although she wasn’t there that often in my childhood she did her best and I’m so glad she’s doing better now but it took her to long to realize what she has done
"When Will We Learn?" Is my favorite line- I was in this sh!tty relationship with this boy and he made me cry a lot because he didnt care about me, he cared about another girl, so I found out he was cheating on me, so I broke up with him and he seems happier without me, so thats sad he never cared about me and never wanted me, so yeah...
WHY IS SONG IS SO UNDERRATED THO? It’s beautiful and the production is absolutely ethereal, I think it’s her least popular song from Portals though 🥺 A hidden gem. I could listen to this a thousand times, it puts me in such a chill mood.
My parents and sister don’t like it because they skipped it after listening to only the 1st verse (never even heard the chorus) because the voice effect annoyed them.
I thought it was Suffering (from a cut) One way street (tip the stars) One year later I find out it’s Spent the rent (on a high) one way street (to the skies)
100% is an addiction. I've dealt with sh and drugs and it's the same thing. I was just switching between them and other things for years until I started dealing with the actual problem (codependency). Look into it, might be something that could help you.
Did you know this song is supposed to sound like when someone is singing to you when you're high off drugs? You can only understand it a bit. It sounds weird and deep because you're loopy
Making me regret doing all of the drugs for half of my whole life im 25 going to be 26 in September ,seven yrs ago i was15/16 high off every drug until my grandpa had died from caner two yrs ago and now my grandma is sick like fuck man,now im sober but its to late now,now my brother is out on the streets getting high my dad found him and is niw trying to get him help 😢😢
Why do I feel like “I know it a cry for help… its past point of no return.. alert me when this shit is over” is talking about war and that people need help and people won’t return and that you want to know when war is over
Wow I love this song it’s so underrated 😭 it reminds me of a family member who ruined their life bc of drugs and affected all of our lives too because too. It makes me sad even thinking about it honestly.
I thought it was Suffering (from a cut) One way street (tip the stars) One year later I find out it’s Spent the rent (on a high) one way street (to the skies)
Addiction is self medicating trauma. This is a great song explaining the frustration of loving someone killing their pain because we, as a nation still ignore the reality of our situation, like we ignore the causes of what we call addiction, poverty, homelessness. It is a brutal system that we as benign. The nation glamourmizes suffering because it built on destroying people for power. Have a nice day
That didn't really make sense to me. Trust me i did multiple research and I've gone through all the possibilites. I stuck to what made the most sense to me. Thanks for the feedback, really. Glad other people can maybe relate to your correction more!
This reminds me off my ex and myself, he was addicted to Xanax and i was going to the same path, be bothe relapsed alot in our relationship to the point it became toxic and it did not end well, it's been a year and i can say I've moved on but i have no idea if he's okay, we cut off complete communication
The chorus is exactly the relationship between my parents, my mom's addiction has her on her deathbed and she still won't quit, my dad has tried so hard for so many years but "its [hers] to decide"
"I opened a million doors, you never go." It's like trying to help someone...
exact meaning ❤
Trying to help someone who simply can’t/doesn’t want to be saved.
But the meaning of the song is like your on drugs or just drug but it is like k-12 like crybaby went through a door maybe opened another one
The fact that I relate to this sentence…😢
I remember the feeling I felt listening to this song, it was still very bizarre but I was sleepy, but it was so good that it even became my favorite

Powder is a song about how you can change from drugs, and how people can help😢
