I met some middle class Brazilians up here in the US and they were shocked to see middle class Americans mowing their own lawns and washing their own cars. That type of work is reserved for the lower class in Brazil. In the end the Brazilians told me they were impressed with the American work ethic. Many were shocked at how careers and work were everything for middle class Americans.
I’m a American who lived in Brazil (Minas Gerais) and it was one of the most amazing time in my life. Plus I was confused because Feijoadas has pork and never seen it made with beef or cow feet as mentioned here. Plus during my time there I have not seen many middle class family with maids so I don’t think is the norm that every middle class household has a maid. Brazil is a amazing country for sure but corruptions from the government don’t allow Brazil to be a even more economic powerhouse in Latin America. Plus crime is major cites is a problem. But I love Brasil that when I returned back to the States I had a hard time speaking my family language (Spanish) because I was saying words and Girias in Portuguese with a Brazilian accent. If you see my early videos on UA-cam you can see it.
Mineiro here, it's always pork, she was definitely tripping about this. As for the maid thing, she was referring to the 1980s, that's dramatically changed in the past couple of decades. My divorced middle class grandmother had a maid and a gardener back then living in a 4 bedroom in Belo Horizonte.

Florida has a particularly good vibe right now because people have come to appreciate the freedom that it provides all the more than ever before, well at least some people.
Florida is a safe haven for Freedom, and a community of generally patriotic (and less brainwashed) people). Definitely a good place to move to from an Authoritarian Democrat destroyed state like my own.
Feijoada was not created by slaves in Brazil. This is a common misconception that was cleared by historians. Feijoada is actually a portuguese dish, those parts of the cow were considered delicacies in northern portuguese cusine, nothing to do with slaves.
Some people eat something similar in the coasts of South Mexico 🇲🇽 black beans, Polk feet , chorizo etc etc . & steamed rice 🍚 veggies on the side . Be sage &blessings from the Sonoran Desert🌵Mexico 🇲🇽🇧🇷
You had been with some brazilian who not represent my brazilian life. She was nice but her problems was so expecific personal drama, not brazilian general life or problems. Im from brazil and was happy there and I'm happy here too. My life there was great and my life here is great either. Be american was my choice not for bad brazilian life, I move to america just by love, i married one american man. We decide better here for him than in brazil, than i moved. Have a lot of other areas who brazilian people use to live and go to have fun and entretainment. I live in Hollywood. Some friends live in brickel, some others in Aventura. I use to go to a different restaurants, places and other beach. Anyway, you need to know more about brazilian culture and brazilian life stiles. This person was intersting, but not fair. Lol
Peter, I really appreciate what you do here showing reality. I'm Brazilian and I have to say something. Brazil is one of the most social inequality countries in the world and a huge and diversity cultures. So, it's difficulty (even for me) to speak about my own country. We even have different names to one same food, for example. I live in Olinda, Pernambuco (northeast) and we joke telling that Pernambuco is a actually a country, not a state. Again, I love your channel. Thank you so much.

The only feeling about Brazilian people/culture is like they’re always partying 24/7, 365. With them it’s all about living a party life, food, chilling by the beach etc etc I never hear/heard in this vlog about investment/working/entrepreneurship/businesses etc about them.

Interesting back-story about how she decided to move to the US and started from the bittom. Though, +20 years living in the US (and moving there in her 20’s) and she still has a pretty heavy accent…
There are more Brazilian neighborhoods to visit in a 30 mile radius from Deerfield. There are neighborhoods in Pompano Beach and West Boca. Would have been nice to dive deep into those. I'm surprised it was Anna's first time in Deerfield having lived in Miami for so long. Not really the best guide in my opinion. Not trying to be negative, but having lived in the area I was kind of like "that's it?"
The whole story she told about feijoada and slaves is not true. It's a legend every Brazilian learns and repeats automatically since birth, but through some quick research you'll find out the dish was created by the Portuguese colonizers, it's all very well documented.
Many many aspects of Brazilian culture are misunderstood and the falsities become the common knowledge. This is just one example. Another is the “criado-mudo” and also the significance of the colors of the Brazilian flag.
Such a nice video Peter! The thing about maids in Brazil is more about how the middle and upper classes sustain their power over three groups of people: women, black and poor. It's a very interesting theme to study about (specially if you are brazilian).
@@RamMohammadJosephKaur no. Race is not a hypersensitive issue in Brazil. Most black women wants to marry a white man. For instance your great grandma married a white man and the offspring is mixed and your mixed grandma married a white man so tadahhhh white result 😂
@@RamMohammadJosephKaur yes, as much as in the US, but maybe in different ways... The USA is quickly turning into Brazil in may ways. The party wont last long.
More Brazilians will move to Usa if Lula becomes presidemt again.

The grind don't stop🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
I met some middle class Brazilians up here in the US and they were shocked to see middle class Americans mowing their own lawns and washing their own cars. That type of work is reserved for the lower class in Brazil. In the end the Brazilians told me they were impressed with the American work ethic. Many were shocked at how careers and work were everything for middle class Americans.
Many immigrants don't do their homework before moving to another country. Coming to the US and not speak English is a NO NO
Nice vidéo.
Thank you. 👍

Anyone notice the theme music is more like Latin Jazz/ Salsa than a truly Brazilian genre? C'mon Pete!!!
Need some sertanjo!
@@marinfam6 Fuck sertanOjo!
I don't think Pete had a say on that or knows nything about it. That should have been on the host(s)ess that directed him on this excursion.
I love Brazil.❤🇧🇷
Especially there food, there flag is cool, also I wanted to learn Brazilian languages, and Brazil beaches is Topless.
Not true. Going topless to a beach might get you in jail in Brazil
I was literally in Miami last week and didn't know about this!
@@AndreMarques45 Thanks for the explination

The beach seemed mellow. Maybe it’s the pandemic but I didn’t feel the joy, humor, love. and energy that I expected from a Brazilian video.
Enjoying the content Peter and may I add excellent videography skills (21:05). I was hoping you could discover the history of the Brazilian Wax.

Very true.
You are an eye opener person Peter. Thank you so much for you have been doing.
so nice seeing my hometown (Pompano/Deerfield/Hillsborough). As a Venezuelan that moved stateside I love my years in SFL (Broward in particular)
Another excellent eye-opening video. Miami really has cool little enclaves of immigrants. Can't wait to go back there.
Enjoy your trip.God bless you and your family
Thanks Peter,I can’t stop smiling watching your videos.
Lol I lived 3 blocks from that pier in deerfield beach for a year. Had a brazilian gf and everything lmao. One side of the pier is for all the young crowd. And the side with the rocks is the family side. I went in that loud brazilian party restaurant at like 10pm with my neighbor high asf and I literally got lost in there. Damn good times.
You videos bring unity ...
Good wisdom about the “don’t take things personal.”
Feijoada was not created by slaves in Brazil. This is a common misconception that was cleared by historians. Feijoada is actually a portuguese dish, those parts of the cow were considered delicacies in northern portuguese cusine, nothing to do with slaves.
in Brazil there are still feijoada with pork feet. But its not easy to find. Normal feijoada will have bacon, sausage, and sometimes some more cuts.
The whole Metro Miami being so rich with so many Latino and Hispanic cultures looks so inviting.
Lol
I couldn't take her seriously after she said feijoada comes from Río. Even Cariocas knows it's from Minas Gerais. ;-)
Nice!I met good Brazilian people in Seattle WA & Venice & Huntington Beach CA . Be safe & Blessings from the Sonoran Desert 🌵 HMO ,Mexico
Well said!
Feijoada is made of pork meat not cow meat.

Brazilian tourists spend billions a year in the state of Florida. If you want to see the Brazilian community you have to go to Newark in New York.
Newark is in New Jersey FYI.

Great work Peter as always
Florida has so many interesting cultures to explore. Im not a fan of Florida for many reasons and I would love to explore more. Ive been twice both times in mid July. Maybe a winter trip would be better because the humidity is off the chart for me. Love Brazilian culture. Growing up with Portuguese many of these dishes I've had. Thank you
The only feeling about Brazilian people/culture is like they’re always partying 24/7, 365. With them it’s all about living a party life, food, chilling by the beach etc etc I never hear/heard in this vlog about investment/working/entrepreneurship/businesses etc about them.
It's just a steryotipe.
BUT, when we can party, it's *THE PARTY*

Interesting back-story about how she decided to move to the US and started from the bittom. Though, +20 years living in the US (and moving there in her 20’s) and she still has a pretty heavy accent…
Likely there's very few occasions where she is speaking English in daily life in Miami.
Congrats on a half million.
Love from Brazil ! Great video !
Not trying to be negative, but having lived in the area I was kind of like "that's it?"
i’ve heard of so many cultures and none have had a hold on me like brazil
Feijoada is not about cows, its pork meat. Feet, ear, tail, nose, ribs of pigs. Black beans and pork meat.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feijoada
The whole story she told about feijoada and slaves is not true. It's a legend every Brazilian learns and repeats automatically since birth, but through some quick research you'll find out the dish was created by the Portuguese colonizers, it's all very well documented.
True I grew up in Portugal. And I can tell you that that is true
Many many aspects of Brazilian culture are misunderstood and the falsities become the common knowledge. This is just one example.
Another is the “criado-mudo” and also the significance of the colors of the Brazilian flag.
Criaram a feijoada com partes nobres né, as outras partes eram descartadas...
As a Portuguese I can say yes, Portugal had feijoada way before we went to the Americas!

Did anyone else feel the relief radiate off of Peter when she confirmed he would note be eating feet?
there's no cow in Feijoada , its made with pork
Such a nice video Peter!
The thing about maids in Brazil is more about how the middle and upper classes sustain their power over three groups of people: women, black and poor. It's a very interesting theme to study about (specially if you are brazilian).
is black white divide as prominent as the US?
@@RamMohammadJosephKaur no. Race is not a hypersensitive issue in Brazil. Most black women wants to marry a white man. For instance your great grandma married a white man and the offspring is mixed and your mixed grandma married a white man so tadahhhh white result 😂
@@RamMohammadJosephKaur yes, as much as in the US, but maybe in different ways... I don't know much about racism there, but here in Brazil is a consequence from the slavery, back in the 19th century, and how it "ended". Since then, the majority of the lower economic class has been black and they tend to work in occupations of lower social prestige that requires little or no professional qualification.
