4 minutes into the video and I hit the subscribe button. There's a way you'd hear someone approach Scriptures and you can tell this is the real deal.

this is really good brother, thank you for sharing. i think we as evangelicals and protestants having a lack of education surrounding chuch history is a big factor in this conversation. i also think that there is just a disconnect surrounding the definition of the word Apostle, and starting your video with a definition of the term was really apt bro. grace & peace!

Hmm an interesting opinion, but with little Biblical basis, just personal conjecture. Eph 4:11 states clearly it is given to some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. It is a role within the body to edify the church, like someone ‘sent forth’ as a missionary or church-planter. I think the issue is that you don’t like the use of it as a title. Then the same could be said of using Pastor as a title. Maybe the real issue is the temptation to elevate an individual and ‘worship’ them because of their title, now that concern I agree with. Be careful not to do the same with the first century apostles, I don’t think Paul would be comfortable with that. (See 1Cor 3), honour and respect them, but don’t idolise them.
I don’t think you can categorically say that no-one has the role of apostle today, because that is not stated in the Bible and seemingly goes against what the Scripture actually says. Everyone should serve with humility no matter what role God has given them.

Thanks for taking the time to engaged this. As stated in the video, this was an additional resource for those who listened to the sermon. It is attached to this video and it is full of scripture.
As it concerns Ephesians 4, Paul ebs and flows back and forth speaking to the saints there about what had been done and what they should remember. Notice in Ephesians 2: 11-22 where he reminds them of their new identity in Christ in which he states is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets. These two are grouped together purposely because they both bring forth revelation. If there are still individuals being called to be prophets and apostles today then either the foundation is still growing OR these are a different type of apostles and prophets (a point that I included in the video)
Also, notice two things about Ephesians 4. Paul is speaking about what Christ has already done in giving APES/T to the body. Apostles and prophets are grouped together as they were before as revelatory callings, evangelists as the spreaders of the revelation and shepherd/teachers as the instructors of the revelation. We do still grow and depend deeply on their work now but that doesn’t mean that this is a continuous work of Christ because there isn’t additional revelation needed. I honestly don’t mind if we stopped using the title distinctions all together but at this point it would bring a lot of confusion to the church.

Some theologians say that there are 8 theophanies (God appearing to men in different forms) recorded in scripture (arguably most do not include Adam & Eve). So I want to ask if you are teaching that God suddenly stopped appearing to men? So should we declare Hebrews 13:8 is a lie? Adam, Cain, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Elijah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, etc...all claimed to have or were rumored (Moses writings) to have walked/talked with God. But so many of you dismiss the fact that God still speaks to men. I do not believe that everyone that stands up and says Lord, Lord will make heaven. But to say God has stopped revealing himself to chosen vessels throughout recent time needs more than conjecture and opinion, or else it is us who is adding to scripture.
