In 2004 I was lucky enough to see Celldweller live at a tiny bar in my area a week after OzzFest came - where Klayton personally gave me a 3 song sampler cd of their first album and told me they were playing in my city the next Saturday, as direct support for a local industrial band. Celldweller blew them out of the water and Klayton and the rest of the band were really nice guys.
Thats why Celldweller is my favorite artist .. i didnt understand a word he said , but i f*cking enjoyed everything that came out of his mouth .. that guy needs recognition and he probably deserves it more that anyone .. !
Now that I have a computer powerful enough for harmor & a keyboard w/more than 25 keys it’s ON!! Gonna sample my minibrute & 0-coast and get digitally explosive! HARMOR ROCKS!!
I am waaaay late to comment on this, but my thoughts after reading some of these comments. Saying he dresses like a kid really? I think as an artist/musician we don't ever really grow up thats probably the best part if being an artist dressing how we feel first word in artist(ART). People can not like his music it isn't for everyone Klay does more singing if you actually listen with occasional yells. I am a fan of good screaming but i love metal and Djent. I think to say its been done musically before...ya maybe rock and electronic mixed sure, but not in the way Klay does it. When i hear celldweller it sticks out like a sore thumb just like when i hear smashing pumpkins or radio head or animals as leaders. There isn't a style of music at the moment that hasn't been done before, but how you do it...thats the key. I know people will always state opinions and thats cool opinions are like assholes, everyone has got one. To say an artist is just like this or just like that is a bit overboard. we are people with our own voice. Everyday discovering who we are as musicians. We put blood sweat and tears..anger pain frustration everything we are into our music for others to enjoy and relate to. To just throw a person down and say its just like everything else is a tad bit bully and bullshit to be honest. there are shit tons of motorcycles in the world are they all the same? I just find it frustrating at times to read comments that always have to go off about how much they think they know..its like a bunch of hippies with their old books and records and knowledge of a bunch of indie underground "who are you? type bands" dancing around dirty feet and all talking about how impressed they are with themselves. Bottom line people lets just be straight who gives a Shit if you don't like it...His bank account i bet somewhere it says IM SORRY I DID NOT HEAR YOU.....I WAS TOO BUSY COUNTING MY MONEY-CHEERS and EAT A DICK THE DICK IS FREE HERE HAVE A COUPLE MORE ON THE HOUSE. celldweller be you and do you it has been a long road for you brother to be where you are stay proud man congrats on all you have done and continue to do..i hope one day to share in that type of success
For everyone who doesnt know klayton nor Celldweller: look for these Celldweller songs: Unshakeable, Eon, Birthright, Shutem down, the Wings of Icarus... And then realise how you like it and look for his full albums of Wish upon a Blackstar and Soundtrack for the voices of my head, then finally look around his story life and music life. You are welcome, I have now introduce you to the most complete artists in the world and one of the best musicians in history.
What about the self-titled album? I discovered Klayton shortly before it came out, and some of those songs are still among my favorites. Switchback, Frozen, Own Little World. Definitely not to be overlooked. Check out the Circle of Dust song "Chasm" as well! It's my favorite song by Klayton's old industrial rock band, and you can definitely hear the roots of Celldweller. :)

***** Well, Celldweller's music was used in tons and tons of films, games and trailers. His music is not focused on "Hey, let's make the simpliest melody possible so it will get stuck in people's head and I will get famous!". For me "Animals" were like "okay, this is not bad", but I listened to it a few times and got bored. Klayton's songs are lifelong masterpieces, where listening to them will only make you enjoy them more.
Oh crap. Here I go down the modular rabbit hole. Celldweller is such a cool dude and he gives a terrific studio tour. Love it. I also have used Monotron Duo and Space Delay a lot in my music. Very powerful little gadgets for just $49.
i love this, it's like he watched every single annoying studio tour and instead of phoning it in he made it awesome. i don't super dig his music but respect for sure
Seems like a really great guy. it's disconcerting how matter of fact he is, and also how optimistic he is about audio gear. I personally am inclined to think the opposite of almost everything i come across, mostly because of how much it often is for what you get. Especially modular, I actually find it even now to be rather limited, stupendously overpriced and very self-gratifying. It's somewhat bc when a volume knob is in short supply being given them is a treat, but also because any attempt at elaboration and convolution should be met with equal purpose or utility. Not only that, The developers don't often seem really keen on creating veritably inventive modules, but instead just fill holes and offer their take on old ideas.
I love like this seems like klayton is more or less engineering music not just banging rocks together just to see what happens, that is why I love his music, it is so advanced and complicated, thats is why my mind and ears love it :)
The audio throughout the entire video seems to be pitched up slightly - Klayton's voice is deeper than this and some of the songs that they play throughout are off-key.
Antonio Garofalo Look mate, it's just a comment... 1. I'm aware of the production process of vocals, enough to know that there would be no point in professionally processing Klayton's voice to sound lower in pitch in every one of his vlogs. (Check the 10th Anniversary Vids for footage taken in 2000, you can hear that his voice is much deeper than it is here.) 2. It isn't hard to tell. You can hear that the Blue Stahli/Celldweller version of Frozen that is played at the start, has been pitched off key to the one we've heard on The Complete Cellout. Do I pass the test?
Considering the fact that he is a one man band, and that Bret aka Blue Stahli is his second in command, the reasonable wait is worth the amazing works and demos they have released throughout these years... Not to mention they didn't stick to a single genre...
Klayton is an independent artist who owns the label FiXT. Visit facebook.com/celldweller, ua-cam.com/users/celldweller or soundcloud.com/celldweller for more info! - Jimmy (FiXT)
I figured out why no one commented... they are are all banging their heads against a wall in pure envy. Seriously you have the dream vocal chain, gear and racks... and thank you for explaining it.. My friend has a bunch of synth mods.. and didn't tell me anything that was worth damn about how they actually work... cheers..
who was banging their heads??? people who dnt reas the manuals or have no business touching musical instruments, first of all i am a pianist simce the age of 6 and now 35, what i mean is most ttue musicians start off on a real instrument and not a ditigal one, and when whoever starts out on a digital hardware like a modular and doesn't even know any basics of course they won't not to do and look like a dummy, or did you just say your comment to just put ya 20 cents in? i know how most youtube users are, they post hoping someone to click onto their user pic, that sad thing about that is that most use mobile youtube app and one must say something so intelligent or what most of us robots think is intelligent to click on someone's profile to be taken away from youtube!
that's what I call a crazy studio (like Legowelt), really sexy but too much equipment in my opinion: you can get lost with such equipment or lose the reason ;o) [I think I'm jealous]
Good thing Klayton almost always has 1 or 2 people with him because OCTiV and Blue Stahli are almost always hanging around and there is the guy that holds the camera and makes all klaytons videos
Ugh, this triggers my modular addiction so hard. Definitely interesting though, I now know what a quantizer does (I used to think of the module versions as just keeping things in time like quantizing in a daw, not keeping pitches in key, so I was never really interested in getting one), and I also know that I need the QU-Bit granular sampler, it's so sick!
Antonio Garofalo Ah hah! Reason 7 allows for all sorts of expansion via midi instrument device. Making it only limited to how much processing power you have. Rack extensions basically take care of this little problem, working them into the rack without compromising the system. I'll stick to R7 cause they've been evolving the DAW game for a while now, making things simpler and more intuitive.
The facts about the probably higher consumption of energy in the room during operation and the resulting rise of temperature would also be interesting :D
True...I was wondering the same thing. I'll bet he has to keep the a/c cranked for that room along with some extra vents around his modulars. Not just for comfort....analogue and modular synths detune more and more if they're not kept within a certain temp.
Wow, this is the most beautifully put together studio I have ever seen. The hours spent just to get everything hooked up properly must be enormous. Thanks for the tour!!

Who is this guy and what is he doing in Nasa's main control room?
ikr, he's launchin fuckin space ships in dat boi
😂😂😂🤟
Thats why Celldweller is my favorite artist .. i didnt understand a word he said , but i f*cking enjoyed everything that came out of his mouth .. that guy needs recognition and he probably deserves it more that anyone .. !
So Klayton is secretly building a space station?
He actually made contact with aliens with all that gear.
Secrets out. The aliens and I are currently working on a collab.
celldweller ... Skrillex?
Lukeme9X Hope not.
al112v4 Oh, he's the only alien I know of...
Yay FL and Harmor up on that laptop ;P
It's not a laptop. It's a Mac. Don't insult laptops.
***** It is a laptop?
I fucks with Harmor
Now that I have a computer powerful enough for harmor & a keyboard w/more than 25 keys it’s ON!! Gonna sample my minibrute & 0-coast and get digitally explosive! HARMOR ROCKS!!
Even seamlessR knows him! I'll now think even highly of celldweller now
I bet his electric bill is expensive as shit
Man...I'm so jealous of his studio.
+pcpaulius can u post link
klayton is a underrated producer and musician :)
One of the best ones yet, great that he spent so much time on it
I am waaaay late to comment on this, but my thoughts after reading some of these comments. Saying he dresses like a kid really? I think as an artist/musician we don't ever really grow up thats probably the best part if being an artist dressing how we feel first word in artist(ART).

Haters are just jealous. I cannot fathom learning all of the audio engineering equipment and combinations like this. Very cool 👍
Half of Detroit's electricity right there, ladies and gentlemen.
One of the things I like most about this guy, his sense of humour.
how do you like anything about him at all
dryer than a desert
it's great! stupid people don't get it. and fuck i dont even know this guys music
*****
Wrong. ONLY stupid people get it.
well, you seem to be the kind of unintelligent person I wouldn't want to be around then

I have to disagree id recommend jericho and down to earth
No wonder all his works are Masterpieces only he can do this no one else🤯my mind is blown🙏❤️
Money can't buy me love.....just a kickass studio!
Garrix's Windows Vista vs Celldweller's Space Station... We all know who won.
Lol
matrin garrix pirates a OS ... picks vista..
+Raddeon Lol you are totally right
CheezeIII odoy ;)
LOL 😂😂😂
Watch this and then watch the Martin Garrix video, the difference is literally laughable.

whos martin garlix?
Martin Garrix is also 17, not 50.
So no shit there's a huge difference.
Give him 33 years, then we'll see what he can do lol
how can one fully listen to his song animals like seriously that shit is so annoying shittiest style ever

How much do you have to pay for your electric bill each month?
Love the framed COD self titled album cover in your vocal booth. One of a kind!
I just discovered this guy. He is a genius 🤘
This is a real studio tour :O
Really enjoyed the Pro Tools comment.

Holy crap, is he a bank robber in his spare time?
Money comes from work. Bad work or good work. Nothing else.
Celldweller is in a LOT of trailers. Always has been. Royalties are good money.
I love like this seems like klayton is more or less engineering music not just banging rocks together just to see what happens, that is why I love his music, it is so advanced and complicated, thats is why my mind and ears love it :)

It does seem slightly pitched up. I went: "Wha..? Klayton's voice doesn't sound like that."
I noticed that when "Frozen" played at the beginning of the video.
***** I think it's some copywrite thing
Antonio Garofalo Look mate, it's just a comment...

Could be just some conversion fault with the FPS of the video - keep audio linked so it's all in time and slight pitchshifting might occur
How does he get any work done with that parrot living on his head.
Considering the fact that he is a one man band, and that Bret aka Blue Stahli is his second in command, the reasonable wait is worth the amazing works and demos they have released throughout these years... Not to mention they didn't stick to a single genre...
How is this not the top comment?
Yo fam give me the 13 year old girl who hates her parents
+Wasa Adsd wtf
This guy should invite children into here to play with the toys.
I have no idea what he is talking about but that demo was really nice.
The couple that dyes hair together, stays together.
Just noticed "circle of dust" sticker on that bigger modular rack:O
Who is he? Is he famous? He seems to be fucking loaded (and unlikely to be a doctor / lawyer / accountant).
Klayton is an independent artist who owns the label FiXT. Visit facebook.com/celldweller, ua-cam.com/users/celldweller or soundcloud.com/celldweller for more info! - Jimmy (FiXT)
He is one of the baddest EDM producers/artists/remixers in the world. Freakin' genius.
sounds like linkin park
Yeah don't know him. How can I acquire all this????
Jonathan Hoover HOW DARE YOU CALL HIM EDM ARTIST >:(
Studio goals.
I figured out why no one commented... they are are all banging their heads against a wall in pure envy.

WOW this studio is amazing.... I want !!!
that's what I call a crazy studio (like Legowelt), really sexy but too much equipment in my opinion: you can get lost with such equipment or lose the reason ;o) [I think I'm jealous]
i think you are stupid
bubnjarovski exactly I'm stupid, and now ;D ? you want to write anything else? you must be really frustrated everyday to treat me that way ='P...
I just realised that before getting tons of stuff like that I need to find a good lawyer and insurance company....
I think that I would need more hands if I had a studio like that. So many knobs... o.o ...I like turning knobs.
Good thing Klayton almost always has 1 or 2 people with him because OCTiV and Blue Stahli are almost always hanging around and there is the guy that holds the camera and makes all klaytons videos
I just remembered that its not OCTiV its just their friend Josh.
Ethan Lekki You are probably gay.
And you are probably wrong.

this is the opposite of the 'how to make music with only free plugins' category of videos
plugin sickness...all producers have it.
I really like that this dude admits he has no clue what many of these plug ins do other than "they sound really cool coming out the other end".
Makes sense though, with all that gear I think anyone's brain would melt if they learned how all of it worked, every single thing XD
He has no clue about synths. That's the problem.
Way ahead of the game !
an artist's paradise :)
I wish I could understand music like Klayton :o One day...
....did he. just say that when he gets wasted he'll attach cv modules to his nipples for granular distortion that feeds into his akai mpc 60 ??????
wat
So inspiring! Thanks!
Is this the guy that owns FiXT?
It is!
yup
love the nebulae module
Jesus this is impressive.
I like how he's wearing a Blue Stahli shirt :D
STUDIO? THIS SHIEEET IS A FUCKING LAB
i dont know how to use those tools at all but wow! it's heaven!
I don't want his studio, I want his haircut
I have a question...how is it you are in your 50's and look so young???
dude you look really cool with that hair though............
That young talented Man also buffed up!
This is extremely technical and boring.
I love it. :D
He got more buttons in there than any pilot. Hell, he even has more buttons to play with than Stifler could hope to achieve.
Neat stuff, but I'll stick to Reason.
Antonio Garofalo Ah hah! Reason 7 allows for all sorts of expansion via midi instrument device. Making it only limited to how much processing power you have.
Rack extensions basically take care of this little problem, working them into the rack without compromising the system. I'll stick to R7 cause they've been evolving the DAW game for a while now, making things simpler and more intuitive.
true meaning of a self sufficient producer
The facts about the probably higher consumption of energy in the room during operation and the resulting rise of temperature would also be interesting :D
True...I was wondering the same thing. I'll bet he has to keep the a/c cranked for that room along with some extra vents around his modulars. Not just for comfort....analogue and modular synths detune more and more if they're not kept within a certain temp.
this is my fuckin dream job man...🤘
41:15 Senorita Bonita, anyone?
This is next level, after he said thats studio A I died....
truely incredible studio!!!!
:O..............................drooling......................!
34:36 A hint to Circle of Dust before its announcement. On the side of the taller cabinet
Studio B would be enough for me :D
What the fuck's wrong with his fingers
Wow, this is the most beautifully put together studio I have ever seen. The hours spent just to get everything hooked up properly must be enormous. Thanks for the tour!!
Sickening
"Fair amount"
Detroit Edison's favorite customer
Watching in 2023 while drinking a coffee and relaxing on my office, what a great video!
Un fucking real, unlimited power of electrical signals into sound.......!!!
Christ. That's a lot of money right there.
I had no idea how knowledgeable he was! Great speaker on cam! Loved this tour, keep em coming!
"I hope to see Pro Tools never again". Classic! Great to see he went for Cubase. :-)
So many knobs...
i know this guy... he was in kick-ass!!!!!!!
it was kind of torture to wait around 30 minutes to actually hear something :)
Anybody who is using Cubase as DAW, which he does, is our friend.
Hey I've got one of those little monotrons haha first little toy synthesizer of mine
video of Klayton greeting all nerdy on us :D
Did you know that he was a guitarist in Immortal?
But wait, there's more!
i would be hard pressed to go outside, just playing and learning all day..
Why is the audio stepped up?
Closest to a studio tour with Deadmau5 with all that mod gear
Question: where the violin? xD
The electricity bill of Klayton must be huge
I like his Blue Stahli t-shirt)
Damm Bitches! Possibly the best Future Music Studio Tour ever - love the kick ass modular setup! *drool*
That is one crazy studio setup... the rest of us can only dream. ;)
You're a lucky man.
