Just done mine, this video helped. I would say the glue around the edge. Try and do it on a cold day. I did mine yesterday it was hot 25 / 26 degrees. The edge started bubbling up from the gas for the solvent glue, these glued don’t like it hot when setting.

@@phil393 a 2.5x30 meter roll is roughly $650US...the bonding is about 200US...the problem is sourcing just that small of a piece of material...if it was me bidding your roofs as a side job, with metal edging amd no tear off is say 1000us
Water based glue, the white glue which he is using on the field, requires only one surface to be coated, and because you set your membrane in while it's wet, it also allows some forgiveness if you end up with a wrinkle in the sheet, you can work it out vs. the yellow, rubber to other contact glue which requires both surfaces to be coated and the glue to flash & tack before setting the membrane in.
Hi need help. Is OSB wood or structural Plywood better suited for a summer house roof (7m x 4m)? I see everyone is using OSB, but my handy man recommends structural plywood but it is about £150 - £200 more. I'll also be covering the roof with EPDM rubber membrane (classic bond).
I’ve got a 5x3 metre to do and the company that sells the rubber uses the water proof stuff leaving a 100 mm around the edge then used that green stuff for that area only. So is it best for me to coat the whole roof in the green stuff? Thanks
Never glue rubber to osb or any Wood. He should of put half inch insulation. And tousewarer base is just stupid. This Isa bad job. After 2 years that osb will be falling apart. I can't believe the making these videos and still getting work.

You did not do a good job plan and simple! The camera doesnt lie. The only problem that I have is that you did that work for a customer. @@darrenthebuilder contact adhesive is water permeable, it has to be protected with a liquid rubber (mastic) I have undertaken 3 EPDM courses, and all of them recommend a liquid rubber ( mastic) seal 20mm past the contact adhesive. What EPDM are you laying ? Prelasti, Firestone ? Let me know I'm curious to see what magical contact adhesive you are using that don't require a liquid rubber (mastic) barrier. The only way to weld a cut detail on EPDM is to vulcanise the cut. And this is impossible to do in situ. Contact adhesive needs protecting with liquid rubber (mastic) I have repaired hundreds of EPDM roofs over the last 45 years, so please, tell me what EPDM you are installing without liquid rubber (mastic) I stand to be corrected.
He is using a water base glue,if you use the chemical glue you need to glue the substrate and the epdm you can glue straight to a wood surface,but you should make sure it's screwed down and not nailed down.

I've seen it where screws and nails will come through the membrane regardless. Put a small patch of rubber over ur fastener choice unless ur glueing ontop of a wood substrate like this . And for heavens sake use 90 mill for a fully adhered roof. 60 mill will do it but not as long as the thicker one will

That's not how you do that include both sides you clued the wood and the rubber or whatever you glowing the rubber down to but you blew both sides you clued the membrane and whatever you're laying it on
You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. If you had seen the build video You would know that the roof has glue fully applied to it. The house is fully insulated (walls, ceilings and concrete slab. And there is a vapour barrier on walls and ceiling. So either you’re just a hater or just a hater because even expecting to See a vapour barrier or insulation in this clip makes no sense for anyone who knows anything about construction.
How doesn't insulation make sense that's what your supposed to be gluing to not straight to a wood deck 2inch foam insulation put down with plates and screws. And you are supposed to glue the rubber as well as the deck been doing Carlisle and Firestone rubber since the late 80s.
And I will add...the glue under main surface should've been glued on surface and bottom side of EPDM..then use Genflex on 1' around perimeter and roll it out for a better stick..One good wind storm and that was a waste of rubber😂😂😂

Just done a small roof in EPDM goes down nice and looks good when all finished. Looks like a great job you are doing.
Did yours go onto osb3 board? If so did it look nice and flat ?did the screw heads show ( is it worth putting in filler ) DIY er 😂

What brand epdm?
Im a flat roofer in canada, why is the membrane not adhered also? All fully adhered systems we do require both deck and membranes to be glued
It is glued, with a different glue. Edges are done after with contact adhesive

For EPDM you can use either ply or OSB. For Grp you need OSB. Personally I would use 18mm OSB. 18mm OSB is also structural.

What size osb is recommended with the rubber installation
I alwasy use 18mm. but minimum 15mm is fine.

Depending on the application u can get 10 - 20 years out of a peice of rubber.
80 mil glued down with no laps will easily.last 30 yr

Vapor barrier is to keep moisture from inside the building out of the insulated roof system. No iso no Vapor barrier
