Thanks for the video, wish I had seen it sooner. I have a question about your first one though. Isn't Hashimoto's a hypothyroid disease? I've heard it's the most common cause of it in developed countries. Again, really appreciated the practice, keep them coming. God bless!
@@alextroy9202 The tricky thing about Hashimoto's is that it initially presents as hyperthyroidism, because the cells that store the thyroid hormones ( follicle cells) are damaged and release excess hormones into the body.
I love the way you explain these questions because multiple times during a test you pop in my head and I can hear you say “look at me in my eyeball”… or “never ever ever ever ever”…. and jogs my memory on the answer. You’re the best.
I am so grateful coming across this chanel. You make nursing so easy.May God continue to bless u with more knowledge and bless us with understanding the process.

Hey Professor D, at 4:20 where you explain the answer: Isn’t Hashimoto’s, when the body makes antibodies attacking the thyroid, still hypothyroidism? I was deciding between C and D and wanted to get clarity. In thinking it through, I suppose D would still be the answer as it would give the nurse more understanding of the severity and level of management of their hypothyroidism. Thanks for your time and letting me talk this through haha (:

Hi Professor D! I absolutely love your channel and you are helping me so much in nursing school! I have one question though.. in question one (or maybe two I can't remember) you said that Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is a form of HYPERthyroidism on steroids.. I thought Hashimoto's was HYPOthyroidism hormones and Grave's was high? Please elaborate and/or explain this to me and help other viewers to not get confused as well. Thank you for everything you do!! You are one of my favorite channels!
You are correct, at first bc of inflammation it’s hyper but it does eventually lead to hypothyroidism. What’s the time stamp so I can look at the context of the question please?
@@NexusNursing Thank you for getting back to me! The timestamp is at about 3 minutes on the first question. I guess my confusion came from Hashimoto's thyroiditis. My thyroid cancer surgeon 40 years ago didn't know some of these fundamentals. For 20 years he told me the breathing restrictions I had were nothing to do with the surgery and was psychological! Yet i had vocal cord damage too, which again he chose to ignore. Im not sure he EVER did calcium blood serum tests. I also was overdosed with radium.
