Protective bags for the "frunk" are good idea, as the front space on i3's is not 100% water or dust proof, the reason likely being the 12V battery and other items that need to "breath" a bit.
Hello mate. Love your vids and this one in particularly struck a chord with me as I'm picking up our i3s 20 plate tomorrow, our first ev so don't currently have a dedicated wall charger. We don't do loads of miles, probably about 5k a year at most. We've been on the Octopus tracker tariff for the last couple of years so decided to swap to their intelligent tariff for cheap nighttime leccy, but they told me that I'll have to get a charger fitted first quoted me £1k 😮 before I'm allowed to switch tariff. Was initially just going to use the granny cable as sole charger for the car as we've conveniently already got an outside socket. I ain't sure it's worth the agg and out lay just for the cheap night leccy. If you don't mind me asking, what tariff your on and what you recon a full charge costs you?
Thanks for watching, you're easily pleased! 🤣 I'm on Octopus Go, and all I needed was a smart meter, which I already had fitted. Then you link the car and smart meter via the home WiF and the app from memory, and Octopus sort out the charging times for you. I do 25 miles a day when I go to work, and it charges to 100% each night. Cost wise, it's 7.5p per k/w. So at an average of 4 miles per k/w/h, it's less than 2p a mile for electricity. So my daily commute costs me 50p(roughly). If you have a smart meter, I can't see why they want you to spend a heap of money on a 7 k/w wall charger. The cost of one would pay for 3 to 4 years of charging for me at my current mileage!

The Wokeby cover keeps the box watertight as far as my experience goes. And keeps leaves out! The mesh covers either side let everything 'breath' 👍
@@MrDesmonick Yes, thanks for mentioning leaves ... our i3 seems to attract them 😁
This car is amazing, what is battery capacity of this model?
Thanks! It's the 44kw/120ah, so the largest battery they did for them.
@MrDesmonick That one is great. 👍🏻

@MrDesmonick Cheers for the info mate, I'll get the smart meter ordered and get the tariff changed ASAP.
Just found out I've already got a smart meter installed (Educate in Peckham mate 🤣) just got the switch done and canceled the charger install 👍
@@BetsBestBits Nice one!! That's a top result 👏 👌
@BetsBestBits oh, and make sure your outside socket is a proper EV socket! If not, they don't handle the constant high current draw and can burn out.
