Klein Curacao - A Little Slice of Paradise in the Southern Caribbean - Episode 42
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 жов 2024
- In this episode, we sail to the small island of Klein Curacao aka 'Little Curacao'. Here we spend our days scuba diving, exploring and relaxing before we sail back to the mainland. Klein Curacao is known as being a tourist hot spot. Great white sand beaches and clear water for snorkeling but we find it's magic in the history that is scattered about the island.
We hope you enjoy this episode and we look forward to sharing our future sailing adventures with you!

Lionfish tacos are some of our favorites!
Thanks for hunting the lionfish..........
You bet! 🙌
I wish I wasn’t so caught up! As I wait for a new video I try to go back and watch the ones I’ve missed. You’re my favourite yachties!
Hey Terry! Thank you for your comment, we appreciate it! We are working on our next video and hope to have it our soon!
Wow, such tragedy on such a small strip of land. Great diving though. Oh yummy, those Lion fish fillets look delicious. Another enjoyable vlog, thank you for sharing your lives. :)
Whoa Klein Curacao diving, so gorge. Yay autopilot, what a peaceful one that was!
Yes! Always a good time when that autopilot is doing a proper job!
**Revision** just, watched 44 episodes. In last 24 hours. Fun 😆 Beaches 🏖️ diving 🏊🤣💪
Hey Mark! Oh wow! Thank you for binge watching our One Life! We hope you are enjoying our channel!! ⛵⛵

@@SailingOneLife hey! Yes I did! I love it! Just haven’t snapped a pic in it yet. But it’s very cool!
I wish I. Ate seafood because the Lyon-fish looked awesome!!!
They are so tasty! Nice that we are able to get them off the reef and get a couple meals!
I used to love being up & off the dock by 5am when we had a traveling day. Coffee, me, my ketch and the big old lake. Nothing better in the morning. Crew still sleeping.
I love my early mornings in the cockpit with coffee too!
Love the drone shots! Great episode! Thank you
Thanks Christine! We thought the drone really captured the island well, glad you thought so too! 🤩
Beautiful ♥️ sailing adventure 🦋☘️🌞🏖️ enjoying fr jamaica 😎🌅🏖️
All the way from Jamaica! 🇯🇲 Too cool! Maybe we will sail there one of these days!
Holy cow, that place is beautiful! Bucket list. And the drop off from the reef! Whoa. Did you instantly get comfortable eating lion fish? They still freak me out (Ally). Thanks for sharing another beautiful journey!
Hey! Thank you! Klein Curacao is quite beautiful, a definite must see! We actually have been eating lionfish for quite some time. When we lived on the east coast of Florida, quite a few coastal restaurants served lionfish. Once we started getting them ourselves, we watched a few UA-cam videos to show us how to carefully clean them....and after a couple felt pretty confident!
another great video, thank you
Thanks, Ed!
Loved the video. Omg those Lion fish tacos 🌮 yum!
Thanks Jorge! They were so good! Happy we were able to get a few off the reef and a meal for ourselves as well! Cheers! 🍺
Thank you for sharing your adventure!
Thanks for following along, Chris!
Loved it. Just loved it. Out there in nature at its finest.

Thanks, Russ! 🌅🌴🥥💙
Thanks for another great video. Good stewards of our land and water resources. Awesome 👏. Very nice to see you actively sailing as well as relaxing with one another. The lion fish tacos look delicious. 👍🇺🇸😎
Thanks B Trent! It's always a win win when we can help out our environment and get a good meal! The tacos were delicious! Cheers until next time! 🇺🇲 🍻
Awesome video, Y'all are getting really good at the video production skills. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.
Thanks Gibb! We love to hear comments like this! Glad you enjoyed our video! Chat next week! Hope you have a good week. 😎
Awesome info on lion fish and how to handle the deadly barbs. Crazy that you can turn that deadly fish into a delicious meal (and save the environment at the same time:)). Really enjoying the channel.
Thanks, Tim! It's a win/win!
Wonderful video! GOD bless. JC
Thank you so much! 🤩
I'm really digging your channel, you guys are very laid back, and always grateful for the things most people take for granted. Looking forward to the next episode, have fun !!!
Thanks so much Dane! We try to just go with the flow out here. Very grateful for being able to be out here and see the world in a different way. We look forward to sharing our next video with you! As always cheers til next time! 🍻
Nice video, those lion fish looked delicious and the fixings too. That was a gorgeous sunset too! Thanks for sharing and I’ll keep watching 👍
Thanks Mark! It's a shame the lionfish are taking over the reefs but luckily they are tasty so we happily get rid of them when we can!
Great channel. Keep it up!
Thanks Ed! 🍻
Great video and awesome underwater footage of your dive! Have you guys spent your summer months there? Ok for hurricane season to stay in this neck of the woods? We are leaving Georgian Bay Ontario Canada next summer heading to the Bahamas then we were wondering if we could do the ABC islands for hurricane season instead going all the way to camp Grenada? Your thoughts? We can’t wait to get south
Hi Sandra! Thank you! Do you happen to know the trawler, WyRow? Also homeport of Georgian Bay! Yes, the ABC's are a great place to spend hurricane season and is a popular spot for many cruisers to spend August through October. We spent last year in Grenada for hurricane season which was lovely as well but Grenada was a bit more crowded with boats (in our opinion). Our email is sailingonelife@gmail.com if you want to reach out about any specific questions. The Bahamas is an absolute gem, can't wait for you to get out here!
🍎Wow!-
🤩thank you!
Very nice
Thank you! :)
You should try to sail to Norway and check out the fjords.
We will add it to our list!
🙏🏻...
Even though the taking of Lionfish is encouraged, is a permit of some kind required to do so?
We weren't able to find any information regarding a permit, only found that lionfish hunting is allowed with a pole spear and container.
@@SailingOneLife Save a taco for me!
You bet! 🌮and a 🍺
Loved this episode. A bit scary with the lionfish knowing someone like to put their finger in the wrong places. Just teasing. Read once the lionfish venom is about as strong as that of a cobra. Now, which breed of cobra it didnt say. They are differing alot.
So is Klein Curacao completly inhabited ?
Do know if it is legal to camp there?
Are you allowed to have a beach fire?
Do you have to use a mooring or can you anchor?
Can y'all tell us what camera gear y'all are using? Do yall use some light gear?
What video editing softwares do y'all use? And what about the video editing process? Do you get your music for the videos in different places? I noticed a lot of good songs I have never heard before and also the generic ones from youtube.
Maybee one day you can make a video about the process and the gear.
Cheers from your Swedish fan
Oooo I'm not sure which would be worse - the lobster bite or the lionfish. I think the lionfish. Gary got poked a couple years ago and said it was the worst pain he has ever felt in his life. Luckily it didn't last too long, maybe 24 hours.
Klein Curacao is an interesting place. There are a few tour boats that visit the island for snorkel and dive charters and beach BBQ's each day. They normally arrive around 10am and stay until 3pm. There are however a few beach huts that people can stay in overnight, although when we were there it was empty so we had the place to ourselves. You are allowed to anchor or grab a mooring ball for free. The only issue with anchoring is the mooring balls are scattered through the area you can anchor so it makeDs it hard to anchor during the day when the charter boats are there using all the moorings as they take up the entire anchorage. There is a deep drop off right outside the mooring field so really not ideal for anchoring. We always try to anchor vs mooring ball but in this case it was our best option.
As of this video we were recording with our GoPro Hero8 (we recently upgraded to Hero10), our Canon 800d, and DJI Mavic Air drone - nothing fancy but all within our budget. We also recently upgraded our camera mic to improve our audio so hopefully you will notice some improvement with that in a couple upcoming episodes. We have a subscription to Epidemic Sound so the majority of our music comes from there. It is tough to find new songs, but we try! We use Adobe Premier to edit, which we are learning as we go! A video about the process is a really good idea - thanks for that! Cheers!
Someone who sails finds tacking "annoying"? You're on the wrong kind of boat.
I didn't know how to sail a year and a half ago. I was used to power boats so of course I thought spending four hours to get some place that was only 10 miles away was obnoxious.
