    Are you using two split rings? I couldn’t keep fish pinned with blade baits last fall

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  4 роки тому

      Its Zach hey man - the key is the spinning rod and a light drag. I almost want the drag so loose that it almost slips on hookset. I use owner St-36 with #2 VMC Black split rings. You can also try using a reel-set where you let it start to load up before leaning into the fish

    Dude, the passion you have for these Michigan smallies is infectious. How’s the reading on the livescope when you bounce in waves? I’m using 2d, and on St Clair it’s hard to get good readings because of the waves. I feel like I wouldn’t be able to take my eyes off the graph if I were running one.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  5 років тому +1

      wdaniels87 it actually stays pretty steady in waves - I don’t have a ton of experience with it, but because of how the transducer is mounted, you don’t get bottom bounce too bad - it stays clear. The shots in this video were in some rolling waves but I’ll let you know as I play with it more.
      Thanks always for the support buddy!

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  5 років тому +1

      Thank you! The way I do it is, I take the trolling motor off of spotlock to lineup myself with the piece of cover or structure, then make the cast, then spot lock again. It’s a bit of a pain in the butt, but I always try to position myself directly downwind of my spot, so then the spot lock naturally wants to point at the spot if possible. I know some guys run another arm that they put Panoptix on

    Saw your feedback on finding spots to fish smallmouth on Lake Michigan near Milwaukee,Wisconsin. Structure in the lake is pretty sparse around here. Lots of nice big boulder breakwaters around though. I know we have smallmouth around but no one that I know of fishes them so there’s not a lot information available. North of me in Greenbay,Sturgeon Bay, and Door County there’s lots of quality bass and South of me in downtown Chicago there are also lots of decent smallmouth as well. I would like to know where mine here are hiding.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  5 років тому

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  5 років тому

      Hi Dominic - Thanks for watching! Yeah, so far I'd say it's totally worth it. It's far more detailed, a similar comparison would be 2d vs DownVu. There is true target separation between fish and whatever they're in/on like Rocks or grass lines, etc. In some of the clips in the video, you can briefly see the fish sitting on top of or next to the boulders which I think is really really valuable. I've still got to dial it in a bit, but it's crazy detailed.
      When dialing it in, my biggest piece of advice is set it to Auto Medium for the gain, then dial it in from there, up or down depending on the water/depth you're fishing. You'll have to change the setting everytime you go out, but this is how I've found I'm able to get the very best picture because the gain will need to change depending on the depth you're in.
      I hope that helps a bit
      -Benjamin

    So you mentioned that you were fishing the Great Lakes. Can you be a little more specific? I am not asking for specific spots, just a general feel for where your at. I live in Milwaukee,Wisconsin on Lake Michigan and am wondering if this is doable here in my backyard.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  5 років тому

      Great question. Where I’m at, there’s a lot of shallow water with sandy bottom, but it drops off to 20-30 fow about 2 miles from shore. This is where there are some rock reefs and sand transitions. Finding those transitions were key to getting them to bite and typically when you found that, you could get them to bite

      @@brnowak_fishing No problem! My actual name is "Novak" but it's all the same origin, the "W" is more from the polish region and the "V"s usually found more toward the Czech area. It translateds to "new" and would be the American equivalent of "Newman"

    Just go electro-fishing with a net. This takes the fun and skill out of fishing

    Fish were great video great but why do you take so damn long to put your fish back in the water if you're not going to keep it.

    PS. Don’t want to sound like your Mom....but, that’s a big pond and next time take a buddy, more fun and more importantly some help in case you get bounced out of a bouncing boat. Also don’t recall but is your life jacket on? This is where you say “Thanks Mom”

      I know you were worried about me taking it as criticism,but you’re 10000% correct. It’s not safe to fish anywhere alone, let alone a Great Lake - one rogue wave and you could end up severely hurt or worse.
      One thing I’m a huge proponent of is always wearing a life jacket. I have an auto inflate Onyx a24 jacket on all the time. Thank you for caring and taking the time to leave a thoughtful comment

      Hmoob Va actually watch my vids again or watch the comments? I’m super selfish in the fact that while this is here so other people can watch it, it’s basically my “free” video storage site
