I cant believe I've never heard of this band once in my life up until 3 days ago...and I'm 29 years old!! They are shredding every concept of music I've ever believed in into pieces! I love it!
They sound like the Beatles, Queen, and the Beach Boys poured into a blender with the result better than the individual ingredients!!! Wish they would get back together.
this group is downright brilliant. I accidently came across their CD in the used CD section. REALLY glad I bought it!! Their songs simply MAKE YOU FEEL GREAT! I keep yearning for more music like this. What happened to good music anyway? Most of the junk they put out today sounds like the soundtrack to accompany the end of the earth. Good music feeds my heart and soul... and lately I've been starving!
my second fav from spilt milk(joining a fanclub the first). great band ....saw them in coogee, sydney,Australia a long long time ago and hung out with roger for a pizza....awesome musicianship and wish i had a vid cam then....they were the closest thing to pet sounds era beach boys...and yet totally original too...thanks for posting all these great vids.
Out of all the band reunions and bands getting back together from Van Halen, to Dinosaur Jr . . . this is one band that really needs to put aside it's past "Creative Differences" and just get back togehter! 2 of them were brothers , Eric Dover is working on a tribute album to the band , I don't see why they can't get past their past hurt feelings.
Their little club concert from Atlanta when keys / synths went out leaving them "naked" was still one of the most memorable live performances I have seen . What a great band they were fully deserving much wider recognition - beyond the circle of us who were lucky enough to hear their music.
This is so awesome! I remember when they came out and most of my friends thought they were another hair-metal band, but after playing "Spilt Milk" we were all hooked on Jellyfish's note perfect music. I regret never getting to see them live and also wish they would reunite.
I can't go against that. Its definitely ONE of the greatest. The only one that seriously challenges it on all those levels- performance, production, arrangement, etc is XTC's Oranges & Lemons.
Yes, you can hear some of the great Trick influence... Can you hear some of the Mozart/Bach too? Amazing band! Making the difficult look so easy and sound so free! I wish my band played like this!
Jellyfish were an amazing band! Yet, timing and misfortune had a lot to do with their downfall. In 1990, music was transitioning from hair metal and synth pop, yet the wave of grunge was about to overwhelm the industry. In addition, when MTV played their material, they were touring in Europe, so they couldn't strike the iron when it was hot. A brilliant band, and when I hear these performances, they always bring a smile to my face.
@fab234 yep: part of a whole concert ... funny that 2 of the best live performances available (Video wise) are from german television. JF performed over here during the 1990 (i think) and 1993 tour
ANdY Sturmer has a myspace profile. Just type in his name and you'll fing it. It has a purple picture as his profile picture. Let others know they can find him on there too. And then encourage him to have a Jellyfish reunion.
Speaking of the main influences of Jellyfish... They said, of course The Beatles, but Cheap Trick, Supertramp, and Queen... Of which, Cheap Trick is still together after almost 40 years and just released a new CD on 6/23/09.
And don't forget Eric Dover on guitar, he went on to become frontman for Slash's Snakepit and what a great vocalist he is. Have a look for the songs 'Back and forth again' and 'Beggars and hangers on'. Talented b@£%^ds all of them.
I agree with all the comments I got to see the Spilt Milk Tour very amazing shouldn't have done those mushrooms or I would have really remembered it better HAHA
Absolutely brilliant ! Just a real shame that this band were so original at a time that every fuck was into the grunge thing. Still I love 'em and ain't that all that matters????
maybe it was their getting more complex and complicated that took them a little farther away from connecting to their audience ? Bellybutton is amazing, Spilt Milk one step too far (in hindsight of course). They needed .... a little Beck in the mix. Jack White probably had not even been born at this point. Tweedy was laid out wasted in the back of the blue van somewhere in Ohio. Beck, White, Tweedy, Manning and Sturmer. Unite those and ....problem solved.
This band was so criminally underrated and so fucking talented. Spilt Milk is one of the best unheard albums of the 90's
+bunnyhead71 totally agree so awesome live as well they motherfucking ROCK
This is one of the greatest bands in music history. Period.
It's amazing how well they pulled off their music live.

Three of the have! Look up the lickerish quartet

I used to jam with Eric Dover at the Kat Klub in Hollywood. Cool guy and very talented.

I miss this band please comeback babygirl
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!
I love(d) this band. Should have been as big as the Beatles. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant....

YAY! Keep 'em comin'. Also, Roger looks like Taylor Hanson in the "roll call" thing at the end. So cute!
I love this band 😊
Spilt Milk's been used at studios on Sunset Boulevard for years when they set up their base levels.
I love this song.
I can certainly hear classical influences as well ! They were so talented
The flipping photos in the middle were very Brady Bunch. There was something very appropriate about that.
Love this song
I so wish there had been an actual video for this song. This is my favorite.
unbelievable to hear in a club
My math teacher sings this to me everyday xD I guess that's what I get for being named Sabrina.
really really good!
so true man, my thoughts exactly!
THIS IS GREATNESS!!!!
Absolute genius.
one of the greatest bands ever..
was there every more brilliance than Jellyfish?!
I can't go against that. Its definitely ONE of the greatest. The only one that seriously challenges it on all those levels- performance, production, arrangement, etc is XTC's Oranges & Lemons.
I am not over-estimating when I say that Jellyfish is one of the best, if not the best live performers in modern music.
I don't believe there is any other drummer who stands and sings when he plays. ANDY STURMER is THE BEST!
Dennis Flemion of the Frogs does (or did, he died in an accident)
I think of Jellyfish as similar to the very best Cheap Trick e.g. "So Good To See You" or "I Want You To Want Me"
Amazing
He's where all the money is for 90's pop stars: Making music for Disney kids shows! I kid you not (no pun intended).

best album ever bar none.you don't sound pretentious.just right.

Beach Boys Pet Sounds and some ELO as well.
Andy played all the drum tracks in the studio sitting down.
The chorus is pure Ben Folds, you can tell Jellyfish had an influence on him.
Is/was there another band of their generation with so much talent vocally, lyrically and musically?
This song reminds me of both Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Penny Lane by The Beatles:)
Has anyone ever realised this song has the guitar part of getting better and the baseline of with a little help from my friends by the beatles?
And don't forget Eric Dover on guitar, he went on to become frontman for Slash's Snakepit and what a great vocalist he is. Have a look for the songs 'Back and forth again' and 'Beggars and hangers on'.

haha - that's funny!
I agree with all the comments I got to see the Spilt Milk Tour very amazing shouldn't have done those mushrooms or I would have really remembered it better HAHA
I love you, lickylike!!
@Keanes70 I heard Andy is now a highly sought after producer in the Music bizz, but I'm not sure
mine to!!!
roger, is that you?
Tim Smitth looks like he is trying out for a Fab Four cover band and Eric Dover looks like he just came home from a night of smack.
Do you think Andy can still play drums and sing?
Andy doesn't look happy lol
