Gretsch was never really my style of sound, but they sound great. The snare doesn't sound bad either. I always thought Gretsch snares had kind of a dead "boxy" sound. This is a beautiful and beautiful sounding kit.
It's always a pleasure to hear Steve play! Lovely kit, the champagne sparkle is fantastic!
My favorite brand, era and color! This is the same set that my jazz instructor had in 1967, right down to the 14"x4" "piccolo" snare drum with 42 snare wires. His kit was green sparkle - which I would call emerald. He removed his mufflers, saying that a good drummer did not need them. His kit sounded amazing wth sticks or brushes.
Gorgeous looking and sounding kit. Love that champagne sparkle. One of my favorite finishes. Excellent playing Steve! Always impressive.
You are a monster sir. The kit is very sweet indeed but the "magic" AINT IN THE HAT....New fan to your channel.
The drums are in amazing condition and sound great. Very enjoyable to see and hear.
NICE! I gotta work on HH control - working towards higher clutch holding shut. People have wondered why I'm not a rocker drummer... THIS IS WHY. WHELL DONE. TY.
Lovelly sounding kit. Great playing as usual. I really enjoyed it, Thank You.
Beautiful drums! Love your playing, amazed every video. Thanks Steve.
Cor! What a sound!!
That was awesome!
I never thought anything could look classier than White Marine Pearl, but this does. Wow.
My favorite color for drums. There were other brands with a similar color, also called "champagne sparkle". My current Gretsch "New Round Badge" Catalina Club Jazz is "copper sparkle" but looks like the champagne with copper in it, like he describes in this video. I love Gretsch!
@@boomerguy9935 That sounds beautiful. I had a Catalina in walnut lacquer. I think yours is even better. None the less, the Catalina's are awesome drums. Have a great day.
hip!
Love it!

how did you muffle/ tune the kick drum? And were the tom resos higher or lower than the batters? Thanks!
