Wow - That sweet baby was incredibly calm and patient during that long and (probably) not too comfortable grooming. She'd make a great member of a family. Hope she and her sister find their forever homes soon!

The lady doing the grooming was so gentle and kind to the dog. Thank you for doing such an important job so well.

@@conniewolf7300 Hello Connie, I can't say how much the protection fee is in America. I'm from Germany. It is also common for us to pay a fee. The animal protection associations are usually financed by donations and do not receive much money from the communities they are helping. The rescued animals have to be fed, medically cared for, neutered, vaccinated ... But I can also understand your view. Someone wants to help an abandoned pet and give it a new home and love, and it may fail because of the money for the fee. It hurts and nobody is helped. I can't say what the fees look like if you offer yourself as a foster home. The pet would only be there for a short time until it was moved to another permanent home. - Of course, it is not the same as if the pet was your own, especially since you never know when to give it away. But what about ourselves? "My time is in YOUR hands". Let us use them to do good. - Be it two-legged or four-legged. In this spirit, I send you my warmest greetings from the middle between Hamburg and Berlin and wish you a blessed Sunday. 🌹🌹🌹 (Please excuse my poor English, I hope that I have expressed myself correctly and understandably.)
Connie Wolf I’m not saying this to be cruel, but if an adoption fee is considered too expensive then how will people be able to handle vet expenses, etc?
@@Jo-fo7tg I was going to leave a quick response because I agree that adoption fees can play an important role, but then I got myself going on the issue, and it turned out really long, but, I'll just leave this here anyway in case anyone cares to read... "Adoption fees help to 'weed out' people who can't provide good care." That is supposed to be the thinking behind those adoption fees. Unfortunately, some "adoption fees" are unnecessarily high and it does create a barrier to adoption, there are too many dogs in shelters, too many lonely people, abused children who would benefit from a pet, and people in general who would provide a good home but could use a financial break. There needs to be a middle ground. I've seen adoption fees of over $250 dollars for adoption. Now perhaps I'm wrong about this. Has anyone done a real study to justify all those animals sitting in shelters when there may be good homes available? Few people with steady incomes, including half of the middle class, are prepared when a big vet bill hits, regardless of whether they initially got their pet for free, or paid several hundred dollars. A high adoption fee isn't a guarantee the pet will get care in the future. My understanding is that most animals are dropped off at shelters because the owners didn't think it through, or there were behavioral issues (usually the result of the owner not thinking through the match between the animal and the lifestyle, knowledge, or skill level of the humans). Extreme adoption fees, keep animals in shelters. I really think increased emphasis on low cost vet services, more careful screening and pet parent education and support, and most definitely, help with animal behavioral issues, is key. I'm in Colorado and there actually are a few excellent programs out here for spay/neuter and vax, and several for low cost, sick pet care in the Denver area; there needs to be more available for sick animal, and behavioral training solutions. There also must be a clamp down on puppy mills. AND an awakening of the show dog breeding world. I for one am disgusted every time I see the disfigured teeth of bulldogs and the wheezing and snorting of pugs - considered not only normal, but "cute." Those dogs have been bred to the point they cannot breathe without obstruction, cannot chew properly, - HOW IS THAT DESIRABLE BREEDING? Veterinarians tell us all the time that problems our pets our experiencing are "common in this breed." Well, what does THAT tell us? And all through the AKC breeding charts is a legacy of health issues... Large breeds prone to hip dysplaysia, small breeds like Bichon's according to my vet, are prone to dying due to overly sensitive stomachs - my rescue Bichon has diarreah 25 percent of the time, while on an excellent diet. On and on the list goes of physical health problems that are deliberately bred into dogs because these health issues accompanying the desired physical appearance that is so "appealing" to the whims of human beings. We as a society need to do more. But it's low on the agenda for most people, so it's up to individuals to do what they can individually and through lobbying. But, the world has much bigger problems and greater suffering among the human population, until people really come to see that, at every level, our compassion and care of animals - of God's Creation - directly benefits us - whether it's a cat on the lap of a lonely senior citizen, or a search and rescue dog - animals benefit people when we treat them as God would have us treat them.
@@sheri4673 well, I’ve volunteered at an animal shelter before and have seen some real rubbish when it comes to adoptions. So, no, even if having a pet could benefit someone for whatever reason, should an adoption fee of $100 or so be too high, then still just don’t get a dog or cat. The welfare of the animal, in a situation like this, is more important. Adoption fees of these amounts not only help the shelters keep running, but also help prevent abusive people and dog fighting rings from getting a steady supply of bait animals. I do agree about over breeding cats and dogs and several breeds should be absolutely be allowed to lapse. But unfortunately, human beings are rather stupid animals and we prioritise form over function.
