    9 months locked. One minute it looks like my hair sprouting, next minute shrinkage. I guess my hair is just having some fun with me❤️💛💚🥰

    I just saw your video, and you're absolutely RIGHT! Yikes...month four for me, but I'm in it to win it and am doing my best to trust this process. Thanks for a great video!

    You gained a subscriber! starter my locs 2 days ago and so excited! my loctician definitely told me how short my hair would shrink too so she helped me managed my expectations....my plan is to probably buy a wig for the days where I feel like I can't do it lol.

      🙌🏾 glad you found the platform, Welcome! Definitely my wigs come in clutch for the days I just can’t with my hair😅 or to help tie a fit together when my locs aren’t quite cooperating. Welcome to the journey❤️

      You know something? I’m definitely learning that with this experiment I’ve been doing according to my locticians advice..it’s time I dial back on product use FOR SURE..she just might’ve taught my lil hardheaded butt something

    I just started my loc journey 3 weeks ago and I have 1 more week and I get my hair washed and retwisted and I can not wait. My hair was already short because I shaved my sides and back and I let it grow back about 2 inches before I had it twisted. To no my hair will shrink, omg!!!oh well I keep telling myself to trust the process

      Welcome to the journey! Which method did you start off with? Two strand or coils? And yeah, I had NO CLUE shrinkage was a thing🥹 I was getting super worried looking at the bunching like whadiheck is this about?! I thought my hair wasn’t doing something right..apparently the bunching I’m experiencing though may have to do with the curlier texture so I’m just crossing my fingers I don’t wind up with bunchy looking locs..but like you, I’m just trusting the process😅 I’m sure they’ll turn out beautiful for us

      @@everythinglynn thank you! I told my loctition I wanted 2 strand twist, but when she saw my hair type she suggested coils at the scalp then transition to 2 strand twist. My hair actually looks just like yours. You can look at it to see if I’m right. I have a little UA-cam channel as well I’m Bossladi28.

    I'm beginning my journey Friday, I have curly, soft and thin hair. I know my hair is going to shrink into itself, which is the place that I’m going to struggle with.

      I have a more recent video highlighting just how much the shrinking and bunching has beaten my butt mentally 😅 but I’m pushing through it. More to come! I’m certain the end result will prove more than worth it. Here’s to you starting!🙌🏾❤️ welcome to the journey!

    The water misting will make your hair more dry if you’re not sealing it with a light oil. It’s just like when you wet your skin. You’ll be ashy once it dries without a lotion or oil.

      It’s a STRUGGLE sometimes because I’m watching my hair do something it hasn’t done before and letting it just be has not been in my practice ever😅 so it’s been a learning and unlearning process..lol thanks for your words of encouragement! Any tips you may have or roadblocks to look for if any are appreciated

    Hi Lynn my hair type is just like yours and it does have a mind of it’s on. I have to put water on mine everyday for it to look nice and when it drys it looks really dull and dry, i am 5 mos locked & the shrinkage is so real, I couldn’t fine anyone with hair like me, so glad I found your video because I feel a lot better now. For our hair type 3A or 3B all this is normal if you fine anything for shine can u let us know, I’m struggling with that too!!

    • @everythinglynn
      @everythinglynn  Рік тому

      Hey! Glad you found the page! Yeah, it’s SO HARD to find loc representation for our hair type I figured I might as well😅 I found lion locs moisturizer on Amazon (it’s a black tub of cream with a colorful tribal looking lion on it) its natural and doesn’t cause buildup and I enjoy that for dryness. if where you live has hard water, I read up on google and it’s advised to use distilled water in your spritzer instead. I’ll be trying distilled water in my spritzer to see for myself if that’ll help with the dullness. If I find an exact product for shine I’ll tell the world lol. Do Keep in touch along ur journey! Any tips for what else im to expect since ur farther along? Are you retwisting yourself now?

  • @BeingErikaWhite
    @BeingErikaWhite 2 місяці тому

    How do we combat the retwist with all the gel and it weighs down the hair and the hair is stiff … doesn’t move. You wake up in the mornings and the hair is stiff. My babygirl has started her loc journey and she led that ends loose. It looks like yours here… the lady in the video. She just hates the shrinkage and the fact that it doesn’t move. It’s stiff.

    • @everythinglynn
      @everythinglynn  2 місяці тому

      I understand her frustration..the shrinkage is ANNOYING for most and getting used to a new texture of hair can be off putting for the journey but it is a part of it in the beginning..I can’t say for sure since I’m not a stylist but perhaps she could look into changing the gel or amount of gel being used for retwists? The locs will always seem stiff fresh out the dryer from a retwist but should soften as the days go by

    Thanks for the update. Currently going through this. What products are you using now?

    • @everythinglynn
      @everythinglynn  10 місяців тому

      Of course! So far I’m switching between blue magic that I added a bit of castor oil to and African whipped shea butter..trying to cut down on product buildup when I wash my hair so it’s back to the basics for me.

  • @mybrotheradam

    No, I don’t Re-twist my own hair, I go to a Loctician every eight weeks but I want to do my own down the road. Your hair will start to get thicker but the shrinkage will still be there at 5 mos. For our hair type it takes a little longer for the shrinkage to stop. Thanks for the tips on moisturizing and distilled water, I thought about using distilled water but wasn’t for sure. We’re u able to go 8 week without wetting your hair?

    • @everythinglynn
      @everythinglynn  Рік тому +1

      No, I gently washed and conditioned my hair by 3 weeks😅 I’m pretty active and couldn’t take my hair smelling and feeling dirty. I feel like because my hair was in two strands it held up for the wash a lot better thank goodness. And OH NO..the shrinkage takes awhile to stop?? 🫠 I noticed that my hair being curly like it is, I’m experiencing a lot of bunching too. I am enjoying what does seem like more thickness at my root tho..hm. Well, here’s to the journey anyway* thanks for the heads up

    My hair looks exactly like yours, no gel works right now lol what hair type are you because I’ve never known mine 😊

    • @everythinglynn
      @everythinglynn  Рік тому

      I consider my type to be 4A and “fine”..whichever gel you wind up finding, make sure it’s water soluble to prevent buildup for sure

  • @coolkidruby3429
    @coolkidruby3429 Рік тому

    Personally I don’t think locs are meant to be “shiny” it’s a frizzy knitted dull texture (I mean this with the utmost respect because locs are pretty af) my hair bunched too! I went from tailbone length to just under my collar bone locs 😂

    • @everythinglynn
      @everythinglynn  Рік тому

      Le struggle is real with the bunching😅 and yeah the more I’ve looked at locs out in public I’m like, I still have that “naptrual” mentality apparently as to how hair is supposed to look because you are correct..they’re kinda matte not shiny. Which is just fine
