My impression of ETH University is that its a Uni that students ate extremely proud to be at and they have a solid work / study ethic, there's a lack of rainbow flags and bunting everywhere and students who are at Uni to doss for three years and protest about everything.
You mix images from the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. These are two different universities. ETH is the ugly university, but the more famous one and it is world class especially in mathematics, chemistry and computer science. The University of Zurich is beautiful and is best known for economics, cultural studies, medicine and law.
@@r_mclovin yes, ugly. There is not only the main building, but also the Hönggerberg and other modern buildings that belong to ETH and show the characteristics of ETH: The buildings look like the study program: hard, uncomfortable, anti-social, practical, useful and modest. There are never any places to chill out and relax, it's always about self-flagellation, even during the breaks.
As a ETH student, I also enjoyed its beauty and appreciate that others do that too. However, if comparing the ‘beauty’ of both the environment (city view) and campus, I still think EPFL/UniLausanne can win ETH/UZH, because Lausanne is just so beautiful a city…

We are visiting Zurich this summer so my son can visit the campus. His gf and I will visit the zoo so he can experience the tour/any interviews without worrying about us. He's already C1 fluency in high German. I personally hope that everything works out, that he loves ETH and can get in for grad school.
Check out California State University, Channel Islands A mix of new buildings and old buildings that was the former state hospital for the insane. It is beautiful. Seriously.
That Library just could have been Santiago Calatrava design, even though there are new architects designing in similar way. The Central Library of Calgary, Alberta is stunning too. Have a look.
The library is actually an important work of Santiago Calatrava, see de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibliothek_der_Rechtswissenschaftlichen_Fakultät_der_Universität_Zürich
… who earned his Doctoral Degree from University of Zurich… (which is the beautiful one (interiors) shown in the clip. ETH (that´s the exteriors shown in the clip) is it´s neighbour.
Not really. The yearly fees for undergraduate studies at ETH Zurich are CHF 730 (about $ 750) per semester regardless of student's nationality. Remember that even students need to cover their cost of living. But a student could just about survive for a year in Zurich on the $ 24'000 fees per year charged merely as fees for foreign undergraduates by any university in England―not to mention the $60'000 to $100'000 needed by foreign students at any comparable US university.
@@federicoboldrin38 Not necessarily―when one considers that *tution fees alone* in the UK are around $20'000 and $60'00 to $10'000 in US, with the cost of living in those countries having to be added on top of those values. $25'000 a year in Zürich will cover both *fees and cost of living* very comfortably.
1. Its not a university. 2. Its not only the eth what you showed. 3. The famous library you show is actually made for law students, its not in any sort of way the main library. This is a different one. Also every faculty has its own library.

ETH is cool but not most beautiful. Zurich is one of the most beautiful towns but there are universities as Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton that would definitely be considered more beautiful.
As a swiss citizen you pay rather small fees per semester around 800 swiss franks. Otherwise there are scholarships but they're only given to the students that are most dependent. Also it is probably not easy to get one because I imagine a lot of people apply for these scholarships but it's sure worth a try.

Both EPFL and UNIL are really pretty in different ways. EPFL’s chemistry buildings are really neat in this weird 1970’s sci-fi way. Highly recommend.

literally jaw dropped, god I wish I could go to class somewhere so beautiful.

Yeah mine too
mine too
Ill go there, are you from switzerland too?
That elevator ride was the best! How is the music scene in Zurich? Particularly jazz and EDM?
there is a huge range of edm and techno clubs in zürich. Jazz is not that big in zurich. For jazz you have to visit other parts of swizerland.
2:41 I smelt your breath...
Good or bad? 😂🥹🫣
Can we visit the school and its library? Do we need student card or registration?
Im swiss and i totally will go there after the military
so cool! XP!
It's really nice, but I don't think it even comes close to the beauty of Oxford or Cambridge
Is it possible to visit the uni ?
Yes for sure! All these places are open to the public :)
