Taking one of these out for a night or day on the rabbits, I think I’d be looking more to where my feet were going and carrying one of these like a newborn baby instead of looking for my quarry. Then how would one of these hold up if got caught up in some heavy downpour with all the electricals within it. I know it’s all about horses for courses but as nice as it is it’s not for me, definitely sticking to my amazing air arms s510 tactical and my weihrauch hw100 kt as they both perform excellent and serve my purposes more than adequately.
Certainly one to watch closely when climbing over that gate! I can't speak to the waterproofness of the Alpha Wolf, but my Red Wolf, Pulsar and mk4 have had plenty of soakings in the past without any issues. I think the reality is that the Alpha Wolf will appeal to those who like to shoot long range targets, extreme bench rest etc. The ability to fine tune, tweak and play with settings will appeal to some shooters but not to others. But I guess that's true of every other rifle?
Thank you for the video. Released on my birthday. I put in my order here in the state's at AOA and just now received it. Fac .22 Had to wait for the Daystate batch to cross the big pond. Wow. Just wow is it beautiful. Do wish the Safari stocks had been out though. Have a Redwolf safari and love it. This seems to nice to take out hunting. I'll be upset with myself when I scratch it. Bound to happen. I'll be getting the .25 barrel kit for this Alpha wolf. The .22 barrel has a slow twist rate, not for long range slugs. But up to 50 yards it's ok.
Great review Richard as Always straight talking and simple,but is the rifle really much better than the redwolf considering how much extra money the rifle costs,no disputing that the rifle is superb but out of reach of a lot of people due to its high cost.
Thanks Malcolm. I think it comes down to what you want from a rifle. The Alpha Wolf has a lot more flexibility in terms of electronic features and functions, and of course an integrated chronograph and the ability to refine pellet velocity in much smaller increments. But you're right in that they are both supremely accurate air rifles.
Hi Richard great review as always, I’m concerned at the moment about investing in a new gun or shooting in general with the ban on lead by all accounts about to happen over the next 18 months Ish, just can’t see at the moment we’re especially in the bigger calibres if it will be affordable or even accurate at distance. Will this make all guns a non viable option then there’s the barrels can the existing take a different alloy will they all need to be scrapped. No one is really supplying heavy lead free ammo options in FAC or the smaller cal’s at the moment and no one on UA-cam is really covering it apart fro Mr AAR but that’s just come out tonight on the news thing he does now, it’s the biggest change and threat to shooting I know of to date, could be some good content for videos there?

hello there Sir just a heads up i have a test Delta 1 of 5 now the thing iv noticed after updating the firm ware is to unlock the gun 3 things have to be done oridgnaly only 2 bolt and trigger now since the update its bolt safety to fire i like to put this back to safe then hold down the trigger now hear comes the kicker if the screen is still on after unlocking and you want to unlock the screen all you need to do is open the bolt and then hold the trigger with out needing the safety this to me don't make any sense since the bolt is open why touch the safety thanks take it easy
Very interesting and thorough review. I wonder if we will see more manufactures moving to 'digital' designs? I can understand that may be a FAC powered rifle in the hands of a skilled target shooter would benefit from the programability, but for the fast majority of shooters in the UK using sub 12ft/lb, I am not sure how much of a benefit such a rifle gives them. Just me being odd, but I am not a big fan of using the trigger and safety combo to unlock the screen, to me there should only be one reason for pulling the trigger, and using it for other functionality is potentially introducing poor trigger discipline.
Got to give Daystate credit for consistently introducing and improving air rifles bringing new ideas to the market 👍. Not my cup of tea though 🤔 I will stick to my Daystate Huntsman HRs they look great and they are reliable and they are both super accurate.

I am looking at purchasing either a red wolf or alpha wolf in HP FAC; 90% of my shooting is on game and I worry that the red wolf will be too bulky to carry around, I I like the idea of being able to change calibers on the alpha wolf, but I prefer the look and simplicity of the red wolf. Is they any differences between the two in accuracy and which one would you choose?
Hi. Both are great rifles and incredibly accurate but whilst you can of course hunt with an Alpha Wolf, personally I think the Red Wolf is better suited. They are of course completely different - rifle and bullpup - so you'd have to decide which style suits you better. There's not a lot in terms of weight. I am fortunate to have both and for hunting much prefer the Red Wolf. One thing to consider is that if you go for the HP (High Power) model, it will have a 23 inch barrel. By the time you've put a silencer on it makes it a very long rifle. The HiLite model has a 17 inch barrel and is available in 45 ft/lbs .22 and .25 (which is ample in my opinion). You get less in the way of adjustability compared to the Alpha Wolf, but the Red Wolf still has a low/medium/high power setting amongst other electronic features. You also get the choice of a walnut, laminate or Safari stock whereas the Alpha Wolf is laminate or Safari. I hope that helps. Please let us know if we can do anything else to help.

For example, I want to use 30 gr H&N slug in .22 cal. What should the voltage be? Is there an instruction or a table for the Advancing Sting section?
I was on the verge of ordering one for HFT. However, from the various reviews I am now doubting if the sub 12ft/lb version is as good as the FAC version regards functionality and inbuilt options? I have no need for an FAC so its looking like this gun is more suited to FAC than Target use. My club has a rule of no FAC weapons allowed. All must be sub 12ft/lb.
I can't speak to HFT as it's not my thing, but the 12 ft/lbs Alpha Wolf has just about all the adjustment and fine-tuning capability of the FAC rifle other than, obviously, the ability to adjust regulator pressure. In other words, it is way more tune-able than anything else on the market.
I have three Impacts and they are good but I have to say the Alpha Wolf has the edge on performance. It's also been more reliable (the three Impacts have all leaked). No issues with the electronics. Daystate has been making electronic rifles for 20 odd years so they've got the hang of it...
A real high tech rifle. Nice looking stock. But the competition has a 300 bar filling pressure and when you shoot high power and a big caliber that would be better than 240 bar.
A BRK Ghost does not have all the complexities of electronics and won 2 bench rest world championships and set a new world record last year. I know where my monies going. But a great review . Thanks . PS A Hawke cap but an MTC scope . Tony Belas won’t be happy.😂😂

Would of been better if it was a 12ftlb rifle as lot of “club” shooters are not FAC holders nor do they want to be given the present firearms license application situation and what you have to go through to be granted one.
Amazing tech Rich, but it is so butt ugly! I'd like to see a how a 12lbf version would compare in the accuracy stakes to my Huntsman Classic. A step forward, or just playing to the market? Great review whatever matey.
Thanks John. I think that in reality it's going to appeal to those for whom tuning, adjusting and tweaking their set up is a major part of the attraction of shooting - extreme bench rest, long range target shooting, that sort of thing.
Absolutely Rich. Just the way things are going, and nothing wrong with that. I just appreciate walnut and steel with beautiful lines and feel. I also have an FX Wildcat which ticks all my boxes, so I’m not totally stuck in the past!!!
Wish you were given a sub 12 ft to try as the information can be misleading .The video you did in the past on the delta wolf 😔 it's all about sales l would much rather see an honest review to help as a lot of dealers are not to bothered once they have your money And if you try and contact daystate it's hard work 😔
That's the trouble with videos. They capture a moment in time and this was published nine months ago. I think most of this is still relevant. Perhaps you could tell folks exactly what has changed with the latest firmware update? That would be more helpful...
Well you know, purchase is not compulsory and there are plenty of cheaper air rifles out there. Innovation comes at a cost and without it we'd be throwing sticks and stones.
@@airgunextra I disagree at £2500 it’s pure greed but your correct at pointing out there are cheaper and most likely better ones too at around £1780 and a compressor and still won’t reach £2500.
For that kind of money, I'll buy something that shoots a lot more powerful and bigger projectile. I know everyone has their preference but for me, no air rifle is worth the asking price daystate is asking.

Oooouugghhh, a lot of plastic on the backside off the TOTALLLYYY overpriced gun. However, you can play well around with and it looks nice, but 1100-1300 bucks overpriced ... !!!
If you're comparing to a rifle that costs 1100-1300 bucks less, you'd need to compare it to rifles that don't have an integrated chronograph and all the other tune-able features the Alpha Wolf has.
@@airgunextra With the FX chronograph and a new Impact you can tune in the same style. The computerized gimmicks into Alpha Wolf are not more than 1000 bucks worth. I will buy the Alpha, of course, but never for more than 2400. However, also 2400 for an Impact are overpriced.

When you say upgrade the software, what does that mean exactly, what does it improve from the delta to the alpha, very detailed vid by the way 👍

Nope...But has a brass/copper filter in the valve.

I don’t think the battery lasts weeks and weeks as it has been a point of big complaints. Is what it is though. Small annoyance.
