- My original video on this was painfully long, this video is all of the same content without the slow pace.
Some vehicles were recalled for this, but not all! Be sure to check at your local dealer first to make sure your vehicle is NOT covered before starting your repair.
This is just meant to give a general overview for how this job is done; not an official how-to.
This video is EXTREMELY helpful for my 2012. The previous owner had already had it replaced under the recall so it isn't covered this time
Mine made it to 215000 miles before the rack seized up. The rockers are all rotted out so the car is going to the junkyard. Can’t complain about the car at all, it was great for 12 years without major problems.
Dealer told me about 3000
How much you think it’s worth in labor to get this fixed?
Just had my rack and pin replaced . $1400 down the drain
Those stupid racks r a pain in almost all cars🤦♂️🤦♂️
Thanks for the video that was very helpfull. I'm in the same boat but with my 2011. The recall is void if the car is 10 years old or 150k miles on it. Not going to lie a little sketched out about the sub frame lowering part.
Is this possible this rack and pinion get damage without any light on the dashboard show up?.
Did you have to reprogram the new one? Or plug and play
How much did you have to pay for the reprogramming?
Remove battery & tray. Long extension, you can get to left side mounting bolts
Muchas gracias amigo me sirvió de mucho ... dios te bendiga
What did you torque the bolts on the rack to?
Had this done once 8yrs ago, now im doing it again. The only issue with the car
How did you get the frame back around the body bolts? Mine seems to not want to go back in to place. I think I lowered the frame to low to replace rack and pinion
2012 only had a recall from a certain number of vins. Mine didnt come back as a recall. Rack still went.
I'm looking at the minty white Accord in the background. Haha
Great vid🫡
What to do if one of the main bolts to my steering rack broke. Now it's just loose twisting and twisting away, never getting tighter
My steering is really loose and when I turn it makes a popping sound.
