There is a good reason why your resin was lumpy and bubbly, it needed to go into a pressure or a vacuum chamber, or have a really liquid formula, so it takes a couple of days to cure, which will allow the air bubbles to surface
Nice job, pleased as bout Licky. Caillo will be a bludy good big brother. Uncle Ben and Auntie M.P, will real good as well. Thanks m8s, keep up the good work, this bloke who drove the lathe and his son who did the fittin are rippa value too.
Should spend an hour or two and polish up that prop and rear steer tube brass while you have easy access . Make it like new to match that beautiful boat of yours.
Arf, arf. Arf, arf. Thank you from the bottom of our collective doggie hearts. Your souls are pure and blessed...your efforts and kindness will reap a heavenly reward of love in return. Yaba has become a work of art under your stewardship. It is a joy to see your smiles as things develop toward that splash day. Arf.
MP, how did you get to be SO good at English? Your vocabulary is SO impressive!! Not to mention you have such a cool personality. Ben was very lucky to cross paths with you!!!!
I'm so happy that you adopted Licky so Caillou has a friend to keep him company. The galley looks amazing. You and all the builders have done a great job.
I commend you on your patience in pouring epoxy. It's getting better each time. It looks like if anything happens to the prop, the boat will have to be pulled out of the water to take it off again. I don't see a way to undo that while under the water. Dogs are very good at loving their owners forever! But if you rescue one from the dog pound or nurse an injured one back to health, your joy will likely be doubled! Thank you for looking after those two dogs! They will return the favor someday when they sound the alarm just when you need it. Don't overlook their warnings.
Hi Guys, woo hoo !! You are going "gangbusters" !! The traditional method of sealing in and around the stern tube is pouring in hot tallow, - I'm sure Nezo (and co) will give you a heads up if it is still possible to do (ie put in filler and riser vent holes etc) and show you the simple technique of filling the void between the stern tube and the shaft log. PS. Licky is one cool dog and like Caillou, is lucky to have You and Ben and cool boat to have many happy adventures on. PPS. Just noticed the grease when they were sliding in the shaft. Just check the water galleries in that stern bearing are clear and/or cleaned out so water can flow around, especially if you have a cooling water takeoff for introducing forced water aft of the gland packing. This really helps to expel and avoid "stagnant" water in the stern tube, which can cause electrolytical damage to the shaft. All easy stuff to check and install if needs be. Just wish I wasn't 15,000 miles away or I would come and do it for a cold beer!
MP is so sweet and smart. I have been watching from the very beginning! I have never become a patriot of any channel however am so excited to become yours. On splash day! Thanks for giving me something to look forward to each and every Sunday. I will follow your journey forever.❤
Best bit of vid was introducing Licky. A real credit to both of you taking on another dog . She is georgous the love and happiness she will impart will be immeasurable. Good on you.
Suggestion: do not install the kitchen faucet in the middle of the sink but on the left corner (close to the corner) this way if you have large pots, is not on the way.❤
Hi,as a retired marine engineer I have to back up a comment another viewer mentioned….The propeller nut should have run up the threads freely by hand, followed by the lock nut also freely…and only then should the locknut be tightened against the prop nut and then it itself is secured by a split pin or tab washer.Cheers Roly🇬🇧
We once rescued a dog who looked exactly like Licky. Found her a home on a small Alpaca ranch. The family took her outside to meet the Alpacas. She (Abby) trotted right out to the herd and laid down next to them. She was their new guard dog. That's all Abby wanted to do from then on - to stand guard for ''her'' herd.
We've been having loads of fun together! ❤ It's so nice to watch them play and now we see that we could never have enough energy for Caillou's standards! 😂
I started remodeling my house at the same time that you guys started rebuilding your boat, and I have watched every episode with anticipation each week. I am amazed at the amount of work that you have done the immense amount of labor that has gone into your project. I have since sold my house in the United States and moved to Columbia South America, but I still watch yourvideos every week and can’t wait until the day you finally launch. All of you have done such an incredible job. I hope the launch goes well.
Nope, no surprise about the puppy. I knew you had two dogs before you knew you had two dogs. You guys are so kind hearted there was no way you were giving that second dog up. Had I known you were gonna try to do your countertops with liquid epoxy I was suggested Stone Coat Countertops, they have videos right here on UA-cam.
I have to say I was worried that the boat was too far gone in the beginning. But You guys worked through it and YABA is now breathing like a human putting life back into her. you guys deserve it. It will look awesome in the water. By the way gally looks very nice
Please undo the nuts on the prop. They can be locked on and you can still remove them. Especially in the water, when you don’t want to remove the shaft.
Third times the charm. Galley is going to be great. I like the fiddles you’ll be adding. Just enough wood to make it feel classic. I like the drive shaft for the propeller. Makes things so much easier.
I love see the progress each week. It seems like so many things are getting finished and looking stunning, I can't wait for the finished product and see the joy on your faces when you make her maiden voyage! Congratulations on the newest member of your family - Licky!
Yes we have propulsion 🤓👏👏👏👍👍💪 come so far .. BTW at around 3:50 that guy was hammering TOOOOO CLOSE to the propellor blade, nearly gave me a heart attack.😅
Well done guys, those surfaces look awesome and should be hardy wear surfaces. Congrats on the growing family. Ben, it’s just an observation but the way you thought about stepping on the levelled surface shows the maturity and experience you have gained during this build. I am a huge believer that you should no your equipment inside out and you both do that, every nut, bolt, paint, timber will bring back memories forever. You guys will be going from boat builders to boat operators soon and all this time will serve you well
Dear Sailing Yaba couple. 👍👌👏 I'm glad to see you happy after all the effort you put into the counter tops of the galley. 2) Congratulations 🎉 for rescuing another cute 💚dog. I wonder what's next? Of course a decent pirate ship like Yaba should have a parrot as a crew member. Don't you think so? 😁 ;-) Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all 4 of you.
Glad to see you are keeping Licky. We adopted a malnourished cat about10 months ago the day after our beloved greyhound passed away. She wandered into our yard and we decided to keep her and she now has three cat brothers and sisters and our dog Peach to keep her company!
I love the counters they look amazing. Yes we learn from our mistakes the leveling stuff just wasn't the one now you know.🙂❤ licky is so cute what is the gender of the dogs I am sure you don't want to be surprised by puppies.
Yes yes watching my faforite UA-cam couple in my backyard on my phone for the first time i am drinking my rosé and watching Yaba get nicer and nicer❤❤😊
Someone stole last weekend from me as I missed this episode and Sailing Cadoha😢 Love this channel. 5:23 Great haircut Ben. If they make a new series of Viking...you are well in mate! Now, the question all your supporters are asking...how much has this cost and, even better, what is the budget breakdown. Please...break the YT habit of not adressing tough topics🙏🏽👍
MP & Ben you should be so proud of how Yaba is developing . I notice all the details as you move around the boat . She's ging to a wonderful sailing home for you and the pups . BTW : The wood trim around the countertops is called a Fiddle in english .
Ive been watching you guy work on this boat for awhile other then dragging your feet and having to redo the hull cotton ive been really proud of you two. Cant wait to see it on the water.
Achieving a bubble free finished epoxy surface on wood is possible but a little challenging. The curing process creates heat which raises the temp of the epoxy and surface of the wood. The air and water vapor trapped in the wood expands and miniature bubble rise into the epoxy. I experienced this in the 1980’s when refinishing a mahogany chart table. I called West Systems tech support (awesome!) and they explained the cause mentioned above. It was suggested to warm up the wood immediately prior to the epoxy application. (for about 1 hour, warm, but NOT hot) It reduced the working time, but resulted in zero bubbles and a perfect finish.
Great job. The galley looks great. I usually don’t see sinks mounted on top of the countertop. They usually are set down into the countertop but it looks good. Happy that you have another member in your family. That is a great thing you have done. Licky will be faithful for life and caillou now has someone to hang out with. The prop nut might need to be redone. It should be easy to take off in case you have to service the prop. I have changed many props and I have done many on the water. Shafts too. It would help if the nut can be taken off in the water. I have used big wrenches and stand on the hull “feet on hull. Head down” and broken the nuts free. Cheers to all from Colorado.
For the sink what would be a good idea is to have one with fresh water and one with seawater so like this you use less of your own stock of water and has to refill not as often you're a water tank. This is just an idea that I use on a boat and was very handy to save water. Have a good one and congratulations on all the good work.
Make sure you use plain epoxy on all the materials under/near/connected to the worktops, sinks, basins. The underside of all these countertops need to be protected from water.
Good morning favorite UA-cam folks! We completely understand the concept of dogs. You won’t regret adding Licky to your group. She seems like a nice pup. After losing The Duke, we couldn’t see ourselves without a second dog, so in walks Tyson. We like your countertop idea a lot. It adds character. Closer and closer!
Id like to apply for the 1st mate Position ! Have watched you through all the Ups and Downs !! Love the Boat and the Vids !! Congrats to a beautiful Job !!
It's great that you have collected another pup... I always think it's better for a dog to have another dog companion, so it's good that there are two now.
We are really happy! We never had two dogs at the same time, so we had many doubts about it, but they are both so happy and they play loads together, it's been great!
I have followed your progress from the beginning and it is gratifying seeing you in the position where you are planning for getting Yaba afloat. I rarely comment on your videos but feel duty bound as a retired Marine Engineer to flag up the work on the propellor. Specifically the propellor securing nut and associated thread on the propellor shaft - there is something seriously wrong with the thread of one or the other or both. You should not have to flog the nut to advance the nut along the thread along it’s full length. The purpose of the nut is to drive the propellor up the tapered portion of the shaft and provide loading (and you may have to flog the nut on the final bit - say, 90-180 degrees of one 360 rotation (that depends on the pitch of the thread). Before putting the boat in the water I would recommend you get this arrangement reworked to ensure the propellor nut runs freely along the full length of the thread (in these terms freely means either by hand or with the use of a normal spanner (not extended) operated by hand without a flogging hammer.
The boat is looking amazing. Your galley is going to be beautiful. You two are very hard working compassionate people with big hearts . You have worked so hard to be able to achieve what you have and i know you will reap all the good you have sown. Please stay the same honest genuine people youve always been and the world will embrace you with all its love. The only concern i have is if you ever have to remove the prop off the shaft while your boat is in the water. Im not sure it will be possible after watching the young man tightening the nuts on the shaft with a sledge hammer. I really dont think it will be possible to remove those nuts under water. Hopefully you wont ever need to remove the prop. God bless you both with all his grace and keep all four of you safe and happy.
Dang really coming along in leaps and bounds be all go for Summer 😊 Galley looks real nice and hey at end of day ya gotta try stuff no matter how frustrating it can be. Lucky will be a good first mate for Capt Caio. Keep at it now.😅
Magnificent Galley. All the hard work was worth it in the end. You always amaze me with how much work you get done. Congratulations on getting the Prop Shaft in. I love seeing the mechanical parts of Yaba. Two dogs now. This shows your kindness and love of animals. Keep well and safe. James.
They make a magnetic silicone covers for the induction stovetop you guys should get to keep the pots from slipping around and protects the top of the induction stove. They work great you won't regret it!!
The wooden raised edge around the counter top is called a fiddle. I have no idea how it got the term but it doesn't look anything like a violin. A violin does have a slight edge around the top, but I would only be guessing.
Nice. Have you thought of fitting rope cutting blades on the prop? They are not expensive, great to free all those pesky crab pot lines etc that snare, even weeds.
Picky people like yourselves are happy when they get through !!Love that !! love and respect animal lovers !! have built boats from laying the keel up to seventy five feet long! Very small crew to lay out and and build the parts ! The bulkheads ,stern ,stand and square them! Then the chines and the bottom plates !!Weld out elders following us as e progress
I have worked with stuffing box packing for big waterpumps. Please be aware that they always need to leak when the axel starts turning. Otherwise the packingmaterial , gasket if you will, can burn due to fricktionheat.
Be careful when working with gaskets in the engine room. For example the stuffing box packing rings. They used to contain asbestos and if found at some shelf sometimes still do. Asbestos is responsible for more deaths among workers than every other work accidents combined. You just don't die now, you die 30 or 40 years later. Your body can't get rid of the fibers so each single fiber increases the cancer risk. Also gaskets at old water pumps and the break pads at the anchor windlass should be checked. Always wear P3 filters when working with such stuff! Stay safe!
Im hoping that the wash water is treated as its close communion with the drinking water spout would give me concerns of cross contamination. Wash water can be so heavily borne with bacteria even if its rainwater. The cap full of clorox can be a great rule. Just simple meanderings guy. Love you guysanderings from an old w

Mix with a stick, do not use a automatic Winder. Because that produces the bubbles inside and can never get them out slowly with a stick.
Hola chicos la cocina quedó espectacular

The only concern i have is if you ever have to remove the prop off the shaft while your boat is in the water. Im not sure it will be possible after watching the young man tightening the nuts on the shaft with a sledge hammer.
I really dont think it will be possible to remove those nuts under water. Hopefully you wont ever need to remove the prop.
God bless you both with all his grace and keep all four of you safe and happy.
Another nice show thanks look forward to each one
Dang really coming along in leaps and bounds be all go for Summer 😊 Galley looks real nice and hey at end of day ya gotta try stuff no matter how frustrating it can be. Lucky will be a good first mate for Capt Caio. Keep at it now.😅
Well done , you guys have a wonderful program , thank you 😊 .
Thank you so much Robert!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and teaching others to pay it forward. Fully enjoyed the episodes and learned a lot. Fair winds.
The counter top came out amazing! Licky appreciates everything you have done for her!!!!
Great tip! We had no idea that existed. Thank you so much!

The wooden raised edge around the counter top is called a fiddle. I have no idea how it got the term but it doesn't look anything like a violin. A violin does have a slight edge around the top, but I would only be guessing.
Getting so close to being afloat , looking forward to the splash day..
Thanks
I would expect the benches would have a marble effect if you only swirl the second colour, not mix it so it is all
only one colour. :)
If you viberate it ( using an orbital sander ) , it will self level and get rid of the bubbles !
Stay safe!
Way to stick with it. Counter tops are amazing now. And finally a propeller 😊
Thank you Mike! We are so happy!
Great episode! More progress! Stay safe keep rolling! 👍👍welcome little newcomer to the Yaba crew!🐶🐶👍👍
Was the propellor properly balanced? Unless it is the bearing will wear and your seal will start to leak.
Damn my clumsy fingers
Moving forward 😂 You have done very well, all looking good 👍. Getting closer to splash.
