Have you ever had, or do you currently have muscle or joint pain because you pushed your training just a little too much? Well then welcome to the club, the journey to movement mastery requires us to step outside comfort zones on a routine basis, minor injury is simply a part of this game. Yet suffer not, your about to embark on a recap of lessons learned from a senior member of the “pushed my training just a little too hard club”. So sit back o lover of movement, and learn of ancient secret teachings uncovered in dusty chalk filled gyms, and a thousand outdoor adventures. And be troubled by injury no more
This is part 1 of a two part illustrated video about healing and preventing muscle strains, injuries and tendinitis. Join me on my journey discovering different methods used in combat sports, martial arts, weightlifting, physical therapy, professional sports, and yoga.
Topics include foam rolling, trigger point therapy, self massage, stretching, muscle balance, nutrition, supplementation, natural instincts and more.
Healing techniques are essential for any athlete, gym goer, or movement lover. Having a tool belt full of options ensures your ability to continue the activities you love the most.
In this second video I talk a lot about natural healing instincts, yoga for healing, infrared light and supplements.

I am 51 years old. At 37 I injured my wrist and the tendon that goes from the pinky to the elbow. I was lifting heavy weight low reps in the gym. The pain was so bad that I could not put pressure on my wrist for exercises like down dog or push up. At the time, I was a yoga teacher and massage therapist so this injury put an end to both careers. Even after 8 years, it never healed right. If I did push ups on consecutive days the pain got worse. I also developed shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain and lower back pain (all on the right side). I felt like I was 85, when I was only 45. Then I discovered MSM and gelatin/collagen. Within 3 months my pain was gone and I could start training again. Since then, I have added magnesium citrate and ascorbic acid. With this regimen I have been able to exercise enough to gain 15 lbs of muscle, going from 120 -135 lbs. I am always skinny and can only gain weight when I exercise. When I don't exercise, I lose weight. For this reason, I am so grateful to have discovered these supplements. I am able to do ring work, calisthenics and train with a sandbag. My goal is to get back to muscle ups, and work towards handstand push ups, and V-sits. As long as I don't get injured, I should be able to get there. Oh, I and love your videos on bridge transitions and horse stance, both super useful exercises.

I'm very similar, can't gain weight unless I'm exercises so I always lose weight rapidly when injured. I've never tried gelatin but I've seen great success with msm, vitamin c and collagen, it really does make a difference. I've also recently had some noticeable success with maca root, though I'm still testing it out for awhile longer. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your calisthenics journey!

Hope it helps out. Thats mountain pose is great for awareness of the psoas and pelvic tilt. Plus it slows you down which is tough to do these days.

Check out the bamboo healer on UA-cam. Master Stephen Tiong is the Kung Fu healer in Australia. I am the one in the USA. It’s an old Shaolin healing practice.

The pineapple enzymes shouldn't work, because enzymes only get broken down in the gut, but since enzymes are proteins they get broken down because of the acid before they could work

I have this extreme problem with my muscles, it seems like they constantly won't relax and I keep feeling imbalanced or the muscles constantly feel like something is detaching or feels overstretched and not lined up in its original position. How do I correct this?

I enjoy your videos. Yet you being a martial artist you should know that the same flexibility and mobility practices of yoga are a strong part of classical Kung Fu training. Also, breathing is a highly important part of Kung Fu training as well. I am a Shaolin, Wah Lum, and JKD instructor and flexibility training is an inseparable part of the whole picture.
