Sigma 18-50/2.8 is my current travel zoom. Very acceptable optical performance for travel. I wish it had more robust looking weather resistance for the times I mess up and the camera actually gets a bit damp. I hope to replace the 18-50/2.8 with the new EF 16-55/2.8 Mk II when my pre-order arrives. Another option could be my new 16-50/2.8-4.8; but, I do like f/2.8 constant when shooting in lower light --- don't have to worry about variable aperture when zooming.
Agreed! Ive looked at all the lens... and find myself coming back to this for video travel. At 18mm and 23mm its just about enough for landscape(clear background f8 to f11) videography and at 55mm for portraits... its not too bad (missing bokeh). OIS is also available and its size is just about right for its function. Totally works. For a one lens travel kit... its probably best.
I like keeping the 16-80mm on my camera, it is very versatile. I know it's not the smallest, but that's my goal to walk around lens if I don't bring my camera bag.
I have this lens mounted to my X-S20 in the studio. Very minimal focus breathing compared to all other Fuji lenses I have. Wonder how this compares to the newer 16-50?
I own the oldie 16-80f4. Always thinking about to change for something better but then I try define to myself what better is and I get a bit lost. In fact, I would like something sometimes with better low light performance at night and a bit of more 3d pop (maybe microcontrast) during the day. Some find this lens soft but I do not, I find that sometimes lacks a bit of “punch” or that “wow” effect SOOC when I compare the images to (i.e) the xf18f1.4wr wich is unfair, I know. But also makes me wonder if upgrading to the new xf16-55f2.8 II in the future would be a wise step or how would those images compare to my favorite lens IQ wise, the xf18f1.4wr. For now, is the best travel lens for me aside those 2 aspects. Sharp enough, weather sealed, light (considering its versatility), OIS, 24mm to 120mm coverage (ff equiv), decent aperture ring.
Thanks for the vid! My guts are telling me "prime lenses" but find myself taking the 18-55mm with me because of the versatility. Anyway, totally off topic; what's the fleece you're wearing!?
I wish they would have done a full update and not an incremental update for the xf16-55. It would have been the undisputed general zoom lens for fuji. No OIS. Not parafocal. No internal zoom.
Whats your go to lens for travel?
XF 16-50mm
XF 35mm 1.4

For me the new 16-55mm f2.8 mk2 would be excellent 👍
The Fujinon 35mm f2
For some reason I always end up with the X-S20 with the 15-45mm and a prime. It’s crazy that such a small gear delivers that quality.
16 -80 mm is also working smooth at my end!!
Yes! Thanks for showing love for the 18-55mm kitlens. I just got it like a month ago and I’m impressed with my shots so far!!

The 18-55 lens is amazing. It’s my favorite lens of all time.
Here, as well. 😊 Paired with an X-T1 it’s unbelievable on so many levels.
Just bought this lens the other week and I am also loving it! OIS is so useful!
Yes! Finally! 18-55 kit is best for both travel and street photography.
Sold my 18 55 because the 16 80 I have is way better. I have travelled all over the world with it and xh2, amazing combo.
What ND would you recommend with it, I looked up some locally, and HOYA brand pops out and as K&F

I also haven't found anything better if I only need to bring one lens with me.
The one with the best MANUAL focus ring 😂
But otherwise, I’d agree with you and the 18-55 is a good lens.

Does the pis allow you to shoot in low light- as if you were shooting at 2.8 instead of f4?
Only one XF 16-80/4 works best for me in Wandr 21L for all occasions. For travel it's
100%
And which one you choose for photography only? :)

They are trying to make it smaller not bigger!
Great content as always. ❤ This is the exact video i need as i’m traveling next week. 😂 PS. What presets do you use 3:16-3:42? The colors are amazing!
Thank you so much - That is my Italian Fujifilm Recipe which you can find here - www.jayducker.com/store/p/sal-zine
@@Jay_Ducker Wow! so this is unedited? It’s just film simulation right?
@@dodgeball28 yeah its a tweaked simulation (a recipe) with if i remember correctly some slight saturation added for warmth
18-55 since 2016, cuz im poor🤣
18+9=27 Just saying....
