Trump's defense is"I am innocent because I did it."
This is terrifyingly close to the “unitary executive theory” defense - basically it says if the President does it, it can’t be illegal… Bill Barr is a huge proponent of this legal theory… but thankfully it doesn’t apply to former Presidents and will be of no use to Trump.
I hope he’s booking his next media appearance as we speak.

Well, seeing how the country was on the brink of a recession under Obama and his administration, housing market took a huge dive, the cost of living was high, gas was high and the wages were down, jobs were scarce we were still fighting overseas all this was because of Obama and his administration. Oh, and he was the one that had the "cages" at the US Mexico border built to detain immigrants (separating kids from their family). When Trump became president, jobs were plentiful, the cost of living was cheap, and the border was a secure period!
Now, with Biden as our president, the US economy is on the brink of a recession, where the closest we've ever been to ww3, our borders aren't secure by ANY means. Bidens send trillions of OUR US tax dollars to Ukraine when there are so many problems that need to be addressed here before helping Ukraine. Fyntaly is killing thousands of citizens. Democrats only care for themselves! Not the people there supposed to represent.

Bad lying seems to have infected politics, in the UK as well as the US, maybe other places too.
It may just be that I didn't notice it before, but it seems to me that when it comes to dishonesty in politics Trump is like a dividing line.
Politicians have always lied, but it seems to me that before Trump came along they actually worked at it to make lies that would at least stand up to some scrutiny. They twisted the truth, omitted key details, and so on.
But since Trump came along it seems a whole load of politicians have realized that you can say "The sky is green" and a whole lot of people whose world view is supported by the sky being green will agree, especially if you tell them the sky being green is the fault of some group they don't like.
