You made many Canadians happy today!
Why? He didn't even punch snufalupagus!
You need to have LeeAnn Kreischer on!
@@AgendaInMind I gotta catch a glimpse of her warlocks
Thank you George, your Mothers poem is beautiful…..
I have to live with myself and so
I want to be fit for myself to know
I have to sit with the setting sun and not hate myself for things I’ve done. I want to watch as the day’s go by and be able to look the world straight in the eye. 🙏🏼
Im an absolute single mom of a 6 month old and I always worry that I'm going to mess him up. But I identified so much with his mom's take on parenting, I know I will raise a good man. This was my favorite episode.
You can only do the best you can. I feel like just hearing George's story is gonna help you bigtime.
Oh honey, the fact you care that you could mess him up, tell us you won't. Doing great mama, you're all he needs!
You'll be fine as long as your son knows that you love him. If possible find a male influence like a grandfather, uncle, youth sports coach, or some sort of mentor that may be helpful.
As the son of a single mom, you will and thats okay. Just do the best you can and thats all you can do.
You’re hardcore, you got this!!!
What a great podcast ♥️🇨🇦 love the Terry Fox shirt too. Love Strombo!
I knew that was a Terry shirt!!! What a mensch!!!
Strombo is a solid dude. Love that Ryan had him on.
Damn, George on the Dew?!? Bringing it as always Ryan!
Strombo rocking the terry fox shirt like a boss 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
YES!!! BLESS MY CANADIAN HEART! I LOVE GEORGE! Been watching him since 1999. ❤
Indeed ✌️🇨🇦
Friggin' right bud!
Wow. Was not expecting to see Strombo on here. This episode was great. It could have been 4 hours and I would have loved every second.
Easily 🇨🇦✌️
So much better than Bertcast. He has a commercial every 3 minutes.
Is that a Terry Fox shirt he's wearing? Shit I didn't think I could get any more respect for Strombo! Big love to all my fellow Canucks, and to our neighbours down South!!!
I always considered Strombo as a hipster media personality,… until today. I have a new respect for him now. And especially his mom. And he quoted Uncle Joey. 👍
Jesus Christ, Sickler; this podcast is SO. GOOD. keep it up.
As a single mom where the other left and is not a part of, I learned a few life lesson tips from George's mom. She sounds like an absolute legend.
I remember going to a free taping of his talk show in Toronto back in the day. Got to see George A. Romero which was amazing. Haven't heard of him in years!
One of the best episodes, what a wonderful mother he had, lucky man.
Half way through and im atill waiting for the pod to start.
BORING AF
@@82PeRK Seriously! This dude sucks, very pretentious and fake with nothing of substance to say other than his Mom was great
@@Ervinabrahamian okay so nothing changed in the pot I stopped watching after I made that statement 20 minutes-in glad I'm not the only one that thinks that
I love Geroge Stroumboloumpolopoumloluolousolus.
Never clicked on a video so fast 🇨🇦 ❤
Grew up watching Stombo on Much Music. Absolute Canadian LEGEND! His house parties on UA-cam with MASSIVE BANDS are absolutely crazy too!
I don't know how you two crossed paths but this was absolute magic. Strombo is a great fit for this show! I remember watching as a VJ on MuchMusic when I was a kid. Amazing dude!
That poem was exactly what I needed to hear right now. I'm going to do the same and read it every morning.
Time stamp?
@@maverik15j Somewhere around minute 14
Love me some Strombo. Terry Fox and Sneaky Dee's nachos for Life!! Weird Neegan outfit? Maybe not so much. :D
Sneaky Dee’s on Bloor tho ✌️🇨🇦
This excites me so much! I have loved George for over 20 years!
Get Rick the Temp on here. I wonder what happened to that guy. These guys were the last of MuchMusic
I thought I'd seen my favourite episode. Nope. This one is very touching. Us Canadians rock.
🇨🇦✌️
Canadians are soft
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Canadians are awesome
@@dustinclark8155 We might be at times but we make up for it by being cool. 😉
Never heard of this man before in my life but my god the wisdom he’s spewing out. A nugget in every minute of this pod!
Thanks as always Ryan for sharing another great episode.
53:25 when he talks about his family “All of my success is their success & all of their success is my success” That is the sweetest damn thing I’ve heard in a long while❤
That last name good lord
Just call him Stombo. That’s what they call him in Canada and the name of his show. He had a great show called Strombo’s House where bands came and played. John Prine, Steve Earle and lots of others. He’s also really knowledgeable about music, especially for someone at his level
Can you imagine meeting a woman and you have to tell her the last name 😂
I feel bad for the kid who has to learn to spell that
100% but, having heard it once. I am confident I got it.
14:25 for moms poem.. edit which appears to be "Myself" by Edgar Guest.
Mr. Strombolinoknockwakkaflakkapokulous has a new fan in this user.
I don't know George but he seems preachy and a little sanctimonious. I was raised by a single parent as well. My father. Alot of people were raised by their mothers but Dad's who do it deserve to be praised as well. Thankfully both my grandparents helped raise me but he did better than I could've asked for.
Omg I'm having flashbacks to his cartilage hoop earring while on much music in my childhood 😍 childhood crush for sure lolololllll
Lol good old George. We used to say his name over and over as kids watching much music.
Great stuff Mr. Sickler! Been following George since 102.1 the Edge 😎🇨🇦🤘
Same! Are you curious who the pedo radio guy was??
@@GingerLeigh737 I am. I took some radio courses in college in Toronto so I may have come in contact with the person. In a professional way. I don't think that I was in danger but this person may need to be called out at some point.
Yooooo I didn’t realize who this was at first. House of Strombo has put on some of the greatest shows!
Was really enjoying it until he started shilling wokeness then tried to make it seem obviously reasonable by using extremely cringe insults toward those who don’t mindlessly follow.
Can we all wrekonize that this is a safe place to look at our trauma and struggles and laugh uncontrollably?
Wrekonize 😂
That’s what this is for. To look back and say…..I have had and been through so much and I can let some of the hurt go. The best part is you get to laugh about your own trauma.
*recognize
let’s also wrekonize my past traumas have stunted my spelling
@@TekNoSolja no love loss fam.
Nice ! I never expected to see George on the dew. 👍
cbc legend, i grew up watching him on tv
Wow I haven't heard of George in years. Taking me way back to Much Music days. Always coming with great guests. Cheers
Unfortunate that he was on Hockey night in Canada. Was not the right fit for that
@@dookiehoser3051 he got paid at least
@@dookiehoser3051 I'm so out of the loop that I didn't even know that he was. I'm not interested in hockey so it's not surprising. Tsk tsk
@@danksidoodles just saying he is a far better fit interviewing musicians and pop culture. He's a very insightful
Loved this episode so much, growing up was a huge fan of George's. Also, anyone else really want Ryan to interview George's mom? 😆
I used to watch George on Much Music everyday when I was a kid. Surprised but glad to see him on here.
🇨🇦✌️
How awesome. So cool that you got to interview the man who interviewed all of my musical heroes.
Came here to see Strombo. Stayed for the open unfiltered raw talk...and your laugh :)
He had me tearing up reciting that poem. Legend Momma!
So many great parenting lessons throughout this episode!
Ryan ! Interview his mom! Call it whatver the opposite of Honeydew is cuz everyone wants a mom like hers. My fav podcast and one of my fav episodes now .
WHAT?!! No way!! George & Ryan together? My 2 favourite boyfriends 💜💜
GEORGE YESSSSS
George i grew up watching you on Much Music! Halfway through and enjoying the conversation with Ryan so far, your mom is awesome! And dope Terry Fox shirt!
lot of church goers very few christians.great show sick
Who else is here to see how TF he's gonna pronounce that name!!! 😂🤣😂👍
Man that line about the grace of others. It doesn't need to be family, it just needs to be somebody. So true... That made me think of the family that took in Chappelle Lacey, and his teacher chip in college.
Duuude, George had the best mom ever, holy shit
Is that Terry Fox on George's T-Shirt?
What a guy! Great outlook on life~ very cool episode! I definitely needed to hear this today.. thank you ALWAYS Ryan!!❤
George is the closes thing we have to a Canadian prince.
Dude!!! Ryan!!! I am a 47-year-old grandmother, and when you shouted George's name out, I couldn't contain myself. I started jumping up and down, squealing like a damn teenybopper, alone, just me and my chihuahua who was howling (he sings along when he hears your beautiful voice lol). I have loved George since he started on Much Music back in the day. He's a deep thinker with the intelligence to back it up. I'm so friggen stoked! I paused it at 2:07 so I could say THANK YOU RYAN, YOU ARE THE MAN! I love you and the show Ryan. Please don't ever stop doing what you do. You're a great listener and you don't judge and these days, people like you are an endangered species. 🥰 Love, peace, and chicken grease. Keep. 💖 Now I'm gonna watch it. lol
I've been miserable with flu all week and didn't realize what day it was.
Yayyy toooooesssdeee 🥰
Top stuff, great guest, as a kid growing up in Canada Strombo was a fixture
I loved this episode. It's so true that your kids are really soaking up everything in a subconscious way as well as conscious. My 9 year old daughter loves to write letters and cards to people just because. Hanging above my desk is a giant card she made me that says, among other things, "you make me feel love in my heart with your delicious food everyday." It could be that we just started working on emoting and being expressive in our writing (we homeschool), but I like to think she's just that sweet 😂❤️
Did anybody else stop and write down that awesome poem?? DAMN! I am passing that on to my son now.
Do you remember the time stamp for that?
He is such a great speaker
That poem hit me right between the eyes.
Holy balls what a fantastic episode!!!
Great great episode! I love how we didn't really get into but a couple topics. This means there is still plenty to tell for another episode or two. Can't wait!!
Hell Yeah A good Canadian Boy. Reppin us the right way George, thanks.
Guy looks like punk rock Elvis. What a G. Seems like a super nice guy too. Rough situation but humble and sweet. What a guy.
His work is awesome. He’s interviewed so many amazing artists over the years. 🇨🇦✌️
I cried too many times during this. This unlocked things about myself I have always known, but couldnt articulate. Thank you!
Favorite episode yet. Could have easily listened to 4 hours worth. Love George!
The Canadian riki rachtman 😂
This man is such a star here in Canada 🇨🇦
I definitely thought he was the drummer for Red Sparowes by the thumbnail. Definitely unlikely anyone would understand. But, definitely dying on this hill. That being said. I'm thinking of early mid 2000s. Dave Clifford. That being said. I doubt anyone else would know. Legends if you do.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode, thanks for sharing your story George !
holy shit, worlds collide... Strombo was always a great feature of Canadian TV, but he's on the HoneyDew? WTF ???
"If you just stick around for life, so much weird fun different shit comes back into play later, it's kinda fucking wild."
"You gotta be open, you gotta be friendly, you gotta be kind, and you gotta be ready. That's it."
You have to turn that clip into a short, or even some merch. That's some good advice that lots of young people could hear.
For a minute I thought you were having on George Stephanopoulos. I was like what? really he ain't a comedian I don't think but no its Stroumboulopoulos 🤣🤣🤣
Anyone get a time stamp of the poem? I heard him say it but I can seem to scroll to the right point again

Strombo, Terry Fox T-shirt and Toronto Neighbourhoods ….I’m crying maple syrup tears over here 🍁 🇨🇦
The story I didn't know I needed to hear.
Haven't thought about this guy since his short run at HNIC, interested in seeing what he's been up to.
Finding it harder and harder to just “stick around for life.” Hearing yall’s two cents makes it a little easier. Welcome back to the Dew.
such a great episode Ryan...such a cool dude..such an amazing mother he has...much love to all
I'm sorry I see the love that everyone has for this guy and the episode and I really thought there were good parts not towards the end, but every time he would tell a story it would be done in like 1 minute. Like what happened to the girl in Pakistan that you didn't know, but knew you. Did you guys talk, hang out, figure out how she knew you. It was every story like I did this and that, I did a stint, I could've easily went a wrong path, but never any insight of what all of that was. It all came back to the moon for the first 40 minutes and other people who were great influences in his life. Don't get me wrong he's mom is a real OG and wish we had more people like her, but this is the honeydew you let the shit out here my guy.
Love a good Tuesdee morning!!!
I clicked to see Sickler pronounce this name 😂❤ stayed for the beautiful story.
😂😂 me too, thought for sure we were gonna get Strombo. 🍻🇨🇦
It's my boyfriend! I've loved George since the Much Music days! Love him even more after this!
Can't put that last name on the back of a uniform... Sorry kid you can't play sports
It took me a few to get past him looking like uncle Jesse. Which is cool. No negative I love it, but man this dude is deep man, you should get his mom on here. I'm glad I can binge the honeydew working
Beautiful episode. Hope he’s back on the show soon!
It’s coool to see the Fonz is aging so well!
Shout out to his mother!
Whaaaaat!! Grew up watching Geoge on Much Music! He was the best! So good to see him, i know hes one the the ones that really made a career for himself
OMG, his mother sounds A M A Z I N G ! Her actions brought me to tears.
woah not expecting this one. George Stroumboulopoulos is a legend in Canada !!
Unexpected but awesome !!!

Man recently I had a dream that I rolled a truck on myself and I was drowning in a puddle. That's so weeeiirrdd
Awesome pod much love honeydews 🍈 ❤
Man, what a great episode.
I really hope is the first of many Strombo appearances on the podcast circuit.
Whoa, grew up watching George on MuchMusic, this is a crossover/worlds colliding I didn’t know I needed!
Yup and loud you remember that??? It’s was a metal show 🐐🐐🐐
