Pike and Musky Flourocarbon Leaders; Tieing with no crimps!

- How to tie high pound test Flourocarbon Leaders for Pike and Musky without using crimps. This is the no-fail knot I use to tie 100# test Flourocarbon leaders. Tieing regular knots such as the improved cinch knot or the like with this diameter line does not work. Here’s how to tie the knot!

Nice demo! Clear and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing !
You showed me this knot up at Elbow lake. Good to see the refresher. Going to be up there in June.
Go catch ‘em all!
Thanks. Gonna get some heavy fluorocarbon leader material and make leaders with it instead of using steel leaders. I know pike aren’t particularly like shy, but I can’t imagine clear flouro doesn’t look more natural than steel wire coming off a lure to a pike.
I’ve seen this knot before but have screwed it up. Now I know why. Thank you
Perfect video thanks !
Awesome video man thanks for the help
It worked for my 60lb leader.
Thanks
Thanks from Idaho"
Clever!!
Looks pretty slick, thanks for the vid. Any suggestions on swivel and snap size?
I believe it's called a centauri knot.
Uni works amazing , san diego jam works great, Spangler knot awsome, all these knots are easier and out perform whatever that is.
👍🏼
What size barrel swivel and snaps do you general use to tie leader?
Hey bud quick? I like using Rapala X-raps 10 jerk baits a lot for Small mouth, but Northerns unfortunately like them too. Is that knot ok for tying directly on a hard bait or say even a topwater ?
Max imus it works for a lot of applications. Jerk baits you may be able to leave it loose to get that action. 50# flouro is pushing the lower end of pound test lines for toothies.
Can the tag end of the Centauri knot be used to add a drop shot?
I don’t see why you couldn’t!
Great knot there pal! Thanks from England mate. I'm going for braid to flourocarbon by way of FG knot(no metal link until lure) then snap swivel with your knot. All good in your opinion?
Sounds good. I’d consider tying a Bimini before doing a FG knot with that size Flouro.
@@liebeltguideservice thanks for getting back! I'll look the Bimini up, and give it a go.
Does the spool have 3,or 4 loops in it before you feed the tag end back through?
Yes. 3 or 4 wraps. Once you wrap the spool on your finger, take spool off finger and run tag end through all the loop in direction of main line. Check out video!
What about a single uni from the power pro books? I’ve been using it do you think that’s alright?
Tank Spank try it, my experience is that they slip with anything high pound test.
Liebelt Guide Service switched to this won’t go back thanks very much.
Thanks....I want to make my own leaders. I make two trips a year to northern Minnesota and wanted to stop losing fish because I hate using steel leaders. Is there a brand of Flourocarbon you like to use for leaders? Has using flouro vs steel made a big difference?
For me, yes. Especially later in the day when water temps rise and fish become more spooky due to the visibility. In clear water it makes a big difference. I usually get a roll of Seaguar Blue Label in 80#. I have used Berkeley Vanish, and that seems good also. It’s critical to use 80/100# line for the abrasion resistance.
@@liebeltguideservice Thank you, do you have a weight /size on the ball bearing swivel? or snap lock? I fish super clear water. I love Seaguar!
Just do uni to swivel with 1mm florocarbon and uni to baitlook from bft thats what we do in Sweden
I feel like a uni knot with three loops is quite effective for 80-100 lb mono or flouro.
If that works for you, then go for it.
Liebelt Guide Service thanks, wasn’t sure if you had tried a uni and found it less reliable since my experience is extremely limited.
Patrick Fahie Uni knot can slip, this will not slip.
Better explained when uncoiling would be nice tbh
What lb test swivel did u use?
80 or 130#
It's called the nail knot. Normally one would use a nail, but you're substituting the nail by using your pointer finger.
It’s actually called a Centauri knot.
Oli , I have been told by .knetter practical outdoors that 30 lb flouro will stop being pike Give it a try
Jerry Anderson I never trust anything below 80# when it comes to Pike or Muskies. I was also fishing areas where 20+ pound fish were regularly caught. With pike less than 10#, you can get away with quite a bit more.
Have you ever had this method fail?
Brendan Spencer never had this knot fail.
Brendan Spencer I use this knot in rigs to catch 100+ pound sharks on 80# test rigs
@@liebeltguideservice thanks for the quick response and the little bit of money saved for whenever i start tying leaders
@@liebeltguideservice by the way, what kind of leaders would be best for big x-raps, and husky jerk 14s?
"Centauri knot"
Also, nice job !
Canoe knot was way simpler
I thought pike and musky could bite through 50 pound flurocarbon leader
Oli Roberts I’m tieing 100# in the video
@@brianliebelt48 ok thanks I'll give that a go then 👍🎣
They could but very unlikely. I've watched countless videos of guys ripping pike and musky with 50lb flouro leaders.
Put the camera in front of you facing away- not pointing towards you because every step is totally backwards from your words. Centauri knots shouldn't be this tricky to learn
Thanks for the expert feedback on this 3 year old video. I was impressed by the two whole videos on your channel, and I was even more impressed by your most popular one. May I suggest changing the name of it to “I can’t launch a boat.”
@@liebeltguideservice AWWW That's just so adorable calling me an "expert". Your words are reverse to what the camera shows- & no deeper than that. Call me Capt. Obvious. Also, I could not possibly care less about my channel, hence there are only 2 videos (decent attempt at flinging insults though)
@@finmanpoozie4756 if you can’t figure out this knot like the other 325 people that have found this video helpful, I’m sorry bud, I can’t help you. You’re part of the small percentage of ignorant idiots out there who can’t take that extra mental step to figure it out and then blame the guy who’s trying to help.
It’s kind of like blaming a boat company for your inability to launch a boat. I’m still laughing about it. 😂😂😂
@@liebeltguideservice Like your video, you are equally as irrelevant to me. I found a plethora of useful videos & making Centauri knots are as simple as I already said. Insult as much as you want; you're an irrelevant little spec to me.
