  • How to tie high pound test Flourocarbon Leaders for Pike and Musky without using crimps. This is the no-fail knot I use to tie 100# test Flourocarbon leaders. Tieing regular knots such as the improved cinch knot or the like with this diameter line does not work. Here’s how to tie the knot!

    Thanks. Gonna get some heavy fluorocarbon leader material and make leaders with it instead of using steel leaders. I know pike aren’t particularly like shy, but I can’t imagine clear flouro doesn’t look more natural than steel wire coming off a lure to a pike.

    Uni works amazing , san diego jam works great, Spangler knot awsome, all these knots are easier and out perform whatever that is.

    Hey bud quick? I like using Rapala X-raps 10 jerk baits a lot for Small mouth, but Northerns unfortunately like them too. Is that knot ok for tying directly on a hard bait or say even a topwater ?

    • @liebeltguideservice
      @liebeltguideservice  5 років тому

      Max imus it works for a lot of applications. Jerk baits you may be able to leave it loose to get that action. 50# flouro is pushing the lower end of pound test lines for toothies.

    Great knot there pal! Thanks from England mate. I'm going for braid to flourocarbon by way of FG knot(no metal link until lure) then snap swivel with your knot. All good in your opinion?

    • @liebeltguideservice

      Sounds good. I’d consider tying a Bimini before doing a FG knot with that size Flouro.

    Does the spool have 3,or 4 loops in it before you feed the tag end back through?

    • @smbassfisherman2625
      @smbassfisherman2625 3 роки тому

      Yes. 3 or 4 wraps. Once you wrap the spool on your finger, take spool off finger and run tag end through all the loop in direction of main line. Check out video!

    Thanks....I want to make my own leaders. I make two trips a year to northern Minnesota and wanted to stop losing fish because I hate using steel leaders. Is there a brand of Flourocarbon you like to use for leaders? Has using flouro vs steel made a big difference?

    • @liebeltguideservice
      @liebeltguideservice  3 роки тому +2

      For me, yes. Especially later in the day when water temps rise and fish become more spooky due to the visibility. In clear water it makes a big difference. I usually get a roll of Seaguar Blue Label in 80#. I have used Berkeley Vanish, and that seems good also. It’s critical to use 80/100# line for the abrasion resistance.

      Jerry Anderson I never trust anything below 80# when it comes to Pike or Muskies. I was also fishing areas where 20+ pound fish were regularly caught. With pike less than 10#, you can get away with quite a bit more.
