It was very important that the Steelers had at least one edge rusher who was built closer to a 4-3 defensive end rather than a 3-4 OLB. Markus Golden was that guy but unexpectedley retired. Leal was as well, but got hurt. I'm very happy they got this guy.
*Exactly. In the Nickel and Dime they needed another player to play DT or the 3-Tech with Cam Hayward, Ogunjobi, and Benton. They will slide #91 inside with Watt or Herbig on his outside shoulder and creat a mismatch with the ET Stunt. The Steelers use a 3 OLB package they call "Bronco" and it's essentially a Dime 1-4-6. I also think they will bust out the ole Dick Lebeau Nickel 1-5-5 or a NASCAR package with 4 pass rushers along the DLine. Watt, Herbig, Hughsmith, and Preston Smith all standing up in 2 point stance rushing QB*
I refuse to give up on a player of Broderick's caliber and on top of that if we are going to give dan Moore 5 years to grow why not give Broderick the same opportunity. keep churning 77 we got your back. just continue to work and keep God first.
Agreed...unfortunately, the NFL is not the most patient organization. They want results immediately when all Broderick needs is some time to make the adjustment from ncaa to NFL. I think coach T is under so.e pressure to win so he's making changes based in that. I could be wrong but I don't think coach is going to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
This is a great breakdown. His standing get-off is still really damn good, & Pittsburgh stands their edge guys up. Love the hand usage; I never realized this guy was such a tactician. TJ Watt is nearly a sack a game guy (highest sack total per games played since 1980) when he's healthy & playing about 70% of snaps. He's been at 91% the last few weeks, so this feels like a Watt boost as much as it is injury insurance. He'll fit in great with that edge room that has to be the best in football. (Watt, Highsmith, Herbig, Smith). Low-key great move.
Idk who to be more excited for mike Williams looks solid and im always excited to see new wide receivers come to the Steelers but man Preston smith makes this defense so dangerous and complete so excited to play the commanders hopefully we can beat the tougher teams as well go Steelers nation
Nick Herbig is out and has injury issues. Preston Smith is an excellent depth piece for The Steelers. Smith can be a Pass Rush End. His stats aren't "wow," but Smith will disrupt pass timing, maybe swat some passes, and create havoc. TJ Watt is an elite defender. Highsmith is good. Nick Herbig is a good pass rusher when healthy. Preston Smith is another tool in the tool box. Have plenty of players that get to The QB. Nice trade.
AWESOME PICKUP! Defense wins championships and this is a great addition that will bolster the defensive pass rush. Go Steelers! 🖤💛🖤💛
Great pick up by my fav team…always liked his game glad he’s with us now
Great addition to the Steelers and great video as always
Ooo, he has an array of pass rush moves and is strong big and sturdy in the run game

Nice pickup. I wanted the Steelers to draft him way back in 2015

Me waiting for the Jonathan Mingo breakdown I’m sure he’ll save our season 😂
