Nice review but I stopped watching when I saw the $156,000 price tag. These cars are much cheaper to buy in Europe or the USA in Australia they are just too expensive . Personally I would buy something like a Lexus 300h F Sport and spend half the money. No need for a coupe SUV for me, but hey , to each their own....
For me, the loss of the M50d is a real shame. The choice between a between a frugal, but relatively bland 30d, or far less frugal petrol engines is too polarising for me. The M50d hit the best balance for power/torque and economy. Now I'm not so keen to trade my M50d for another BMW. Great review!
Echo your comments 100%. The M50d is a great powertrain, balancing big power with impressive economy, so it baffles me that BMW would take a step back in eliminating it from the range. You see plenty of them around, too!

But I think BMW still didn’t get right the looks when it comes to Coupes. It looks like they literally did SUV+Sedan on their drawing board. On the other hand Audi got it incredibly well with their Q3 sportback and Q8
Agreed that the Q8 is an excellent looking vehicle and does the slightly slinkier look compared to the Q7 well. My belief is that BMW and Mercedes both overexaggerate the sloping roofline element and call it job done. The Q8 is actually more upright at the rear but it is the overall athleticism of the vehicle compared to the more conservative Q7 that makes the difference. -Tom
Tend to think the same way about it. I think it's much less awkward than the X4, and I do think this Atlas Cedar paint helps it out, but the X5 is just a better looking car.

The cicadas were incredibly loud that day - it’s high summer. Had to quieten those frequencies down a bit. I think the end result is still OK, but that’s why.
Great video as always Tom. You should do a review on the M550i xDrive if you can. It’s an interesting proposition as a poor man’s M5. I’d love to see how it stacks up.
In the abscence of a M5 wagon love these with v8 power and good dynamics or an RS6 Avant - X6 strangely I like but X4 not so much but I think it’s just the BMW chutzpah at designing this for buyers who want a striking design and would love this as a good buy post depreciation albeit the M50d was slightly more sensible - great review Tom
Agreed, Malcolm ... though I’d prefer a hypothetical M550i Touring over this, naturally! Also think the styling works better on the big X6 than on the shrunken X4.

Not convinced about the X6 either looks or having a chopped off wagon style. To my eyes it looks awkward.

I’d still say they are regarded far more for their inline six cylinder engines than their V8s.
